I am a resident of Fox Hill Village in Hampton, Va. I want to start by saying as a resident of over two years here, Stacci has always been great and helpful. She was the first person we talked to when we first moved in and has been amazing to work with. She listens to our concerns and responds promptly. The new maintenance team has also been great, for the most part. For that, I gave an extra star. Unfortunately, my family and I had an absolutely unacceptable experience due to intense paint fumes suddenly filling our home, without any warning or notice. The apartment above ours was being painted. The exposure was so extreme it felt like the spray gun was being used inside our own space. Both I and my cat have respiratory issues, and since June 19th, my cat has had multiple coughing fits. Now we're facing additional veterinary bills due to this completely avoidable situation. Our home became unlivable--90-degree heat, poor ventilation, and still no replacement of a missing window screen we've been requesting for over two years. Even after opening our door to try and ventilate (which let in bugs), the smell only got worse. The exposure to these toxic fumes lasted for 12+ hours. This happened on a holiday when management was unreachable, leaving us with nowhere to turn. When I finally spoke to Crystal about it, I was met with condescension and constant interruptions. She was rude, lacked empathy and basic manners. She even resorted to calling me names. She downplayed how dangerous it is to the human body to inhale paint fumes. She called me sensitive when telling her I experienced dizziness and nausea because of the toxins. This situation was not only disrespectful but dangerous. The lack of communication, care, and basic human consideration is beyond disappointing. Tenants deserve better than this. Another thing to note when considering moving here, the buildings do have roaches. Me and many other neighbors have had them inside of our homes. read more

Absolutely astounded in the business practices of this company. They screen applications in a multi-part process and don't tell the applicants that their administrative fee is non-refundable once they have only income approved you - mind you they haven't even completed a criminal background check - which could still cause a denial. They con elderly people into this by telling them the administrative fee is refundable prior to move in however that is not the case. The corporate office is absolutely no help. After calling multiple times over several weeks and leaving voicemails - I finally got a hold of someone today that clearly could care less because hey - they got their money right? You all should be ashamed of yourselves. My 83 year old grandmother may be out a $150 administrative fee but thank GOD she didn't sign into a relationship with you inhumane thieves. Any renter should think twice prior to entering any kind of business relationship with Cushman-Wakefield Thalhimer. I have lived at the 1805 Monument (Richmond) property for 14 months. In roughly half of that time, some alarm from somewhere else in the building has been audible inside of my apartment. Seems to be coming from the unit above me but not sure exactly where it's coming from. It seems to be tied to a building alarm which also sounds off at the same time. I have submitted 5 maintenance requests and spoken directly to 3 different members of Thalhimer management. They have repeatedly closed my maintenance requests without fixing the issue, and any fixes they have implemented have been temporary. No one has offered me an explanation as to why it's happening, where it's coming from, or what a permanent solution might be. So every couple of months this alarm goes off for days or weeks on end and, according to management, I'm just supposed to deal with it. There is much more to tell, including residents getting locked in or locked out of main entrances (in one case for almost 48 hours), elevators being down for days on end, messes and trash left by residents (and their animals) allowed to remain in public places for days, maintenance or management trying to hide the fact my dishwasher was broken when I moved in (then taking 3 months to try and fix/ultimately replace it), general lack of attention or caring when it comes to management staff, etc. - but too much to list here. For now I'll focus on the fact that I've had to endure a mysterious alarm for roughly half of the almost 400 days I've lived here, and thus far there has been zero care or attention given to the problem by management or maintenance. I'm a resident at the residences of Sonoma Woods!!!!!! Where do I start?!? First I'll say that the property is relaxed, thus far the people living on the property are nice and its very quiet. The amenities are all great except for the gym you might as well get a membership. They don't have sanitizer or paper towel so you can wipe down after each use but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt as always cause covid happened so it may change ‍ But, myself and my housemate moved to this property in October 2019( prior to covid-19). When my housemate and their mother walked the property they were told how everything that was out of place or damaged will be replaced and we're just now getting our balcony fixed which was loose and definitely a hazard to myself, housemate and guests( that took 6 months to execute and only cause I called and emailed corporate). When we moved into our place it wasn't move in ready but per the consultants they did a "white glove test" not sure if stevie wonder cleared it to be moved into though. I'm not sure what crackerjack box they got the maintenance staff from but I've had to use my maintenance connect from a whole other property and company to help with the tedious things that needed fixing( shower heads, doors and etc.) It's now June 2020 and the sad part about this whole scenario is the property has been taken over by thalhiimer and I can't even tell we have new management . Its a hot mess to be honest and the leasing consultant whew child...... not the brightest crayons in the box. As I'm typing this I'm trying to figure out how long its gonna take for them to follow up with me in regards to my AC not cooling down a room in my place during these hot times we've been having. My neighbors in my building alone had much to say too which I'm surprised they haven't looked into a lawyer based off what was said. Update 6/9/20 @511PM: I haven't heard from anyone still( not to surprised) about to complete my 6 out of 14 hour shift. Hopefully emergency maintenance will get back to me. I've already called them twice yesterday and once today. Also sent my mother to the leasing office and she said that it was closed and that was at 4:50PM(they close at 5P) Wish me luck Update 6/24/20 @1130AM: Maintenace visited our home last week to fix dishwasher and when they stopped by yesterday my housemate asked what they did with our dishwasher and he told her he doesn't know, he will get his log book, but he never returned. Like how last week they left our home without letting us know anything. 8/17/20: So, this weekend we had a leak in our home causing a terrible pest problem and water has leaked into our electric appliances which we had to unplug since obviously its a hazard. I spoke with emergency maintenance the first time ever since living here (moved in October 2019) and this wouldn't ve our first emergency maintenance situation . See how long it would take this time to resolve these old and new issues. MAYBE when we get electrocuted or the apartment catches on fire ‍ 11/26/20: been complaining about peeled, chipped paint because of some paperwork attached to my lease. I still haven't signed my lease because I feel its only fair to fix everything before I sacrifice my sanity again with these people. So, they attempted to fix my issue...... LOL and it looks far more worse then it did when I called about it. The gag is the spot is on the ceiling where by bed is so I'm just trying to figure out how they attempted to fix it without moving my bed ? Hmmmm 12/09/2020: they fixed the bottom of the stairs which was a safety hazard. I'm only glad it took me busting my ass and telling them legally they have no choice to fix it now its resolved without even letting the tenants know they would be blocking our stairway for idk how long. But them letters get pushed out when they want to take your money every month. 12/11/20: so we been trying to get our neighbors to email us if they have the same issues and concerns and we're discovering that they do . **Update** After a month of requesting Thalhimer to remediate the mold in the AC unit (I.e., during hottest month of the year), Thalhimer replaced the AC unit and the issue has finally been resolved. The unfortunate reality of the situation is that I would still be dealing with the mold issue if I did not start posting complaints on any/all review services I could find (if you have a serious issue that isn't being appropriately addressed, I highly recommend using the Better Business Bureau to get things moving). Here's my updated rating: Thalhimer Corporate in Glen Allen gets 5 Stars - they provided an excellent customer service experience - it was one you hope for and expect from a company you send hundreds of dollars a month. They acknowledged the issue, kept me in the loop and lived up to their word with genuine action. They did what needed to be done and I really appreciate their efforts to correct the issue. Unfortunately, Thalhimer at 900 West Marshall St (i.e., the place/people you'll actually be dealing with) still gets -5 stars, so it's a wash at the original rating. Just to reiterate what I said in my initial review, this side of Thalhimer makes Comcast look like All-Stars. If there was ever reason to add a zero star rating to Yelp, Thalhimer at 900 West Marshall would be it. My original review: By far the worst customer experience I have ever had - they make Comcast look like a bunch of All-Stars. I've been dealing with a black mold issue in the AC unit for a month and they have yet to resolve it. Trying to get a hold of them or have them respond to a direct email is next to impossible. I've been dealing with Kariss Rogers and Paula Namola and I might as well send emails to myself. Just recently, Thalhimer entered the apartment without ANY notification while the apartment was unattended. By far, the most unprofessional and incompetent people I've ever dealt with - but hey, sure they saved a dollar somewhere. Moved out of River's Edge apartments in Richmond at the end of October and Thalhimer has not returned my deposit. Even worse, they have never sent me a letter, never responded to my emails or phone calls and when I go by the leasing office there has never been an employee there to help. I moved out because of the lack of staff and management and the problem lives on after moving out. Avoid Thalhimer properties, they are in terrible financial troubles. My family of 4 has lived in the Kent Road Village community for the past 5 years & we've just renewed our 6th lease. Starting in 2011, we've lived 2 years spent in an upstairs 2 bedroom unit in the Kent Road Village garden style apartments, 2 additional years living in the downstairs unit of the same building (easier w/ 2 kids at that point & 2 dogs), & the last year in one of the newly built townhouses, which are 2 stories. Kristi & Leslie in the office have been nothing short of amazing in facilitating our moves between units as our family has grown to include 2 children & pets. The amenities, especially within the kitchens & bathrooms of all of our units have been incredible. When we eventually move on to home ownership, I will consider myself spoiled for wood cabinetry, granite countertops & hardwood floors throughout. Kent Road Village in right within the borders of the Mary Munford Elementary School zone, which is one of the top rated grade schools in the city & was a top deciding factor in our apartment searching. It has a 9/10 GreatSchools Rating (compared with the neighboring elementary schools Fox & Cary, having a 7/10 & 6/10 rating, respectively). It's convenient to shopping & dining in Carytown, Willow Lawn, Libbie Place & Scott's Addition, as well as close to several major freeways. At the cross of the Museum District & The Fan, our community is within close distance to many museums (Children's Museum, Science Museum of VA, VHS, VMFA) & award winning restaurants. Kent Road Village is a pet friendly community with many dog owners. We've made several neighborhood friends just from walking our dogs in the evenings. The office staff makes it a priority to arrange community events like block parties, with various sponsors a few times a year which allows for more socialization with other neighbors in an otherwise very quiet community. The grounds here are immaculately kept by a landscaping service each week & there are constant beautification efforts underway. In the 5 years we've lived here, we've seen a central gazebo as well as picnic tables & grills erected. Lastly, the maintenance crew here is incredibly accessible and quick to respond to even the smallest of maintenance requests within 24 to 48 hrs. I've never felt like a need of ours hasn't been met in a timely fashion. Consider Kent Road Village as your next home, whether you are a single professional, group of roommates, retiree looking to downsize, or a small family like ours looking for safe, affordable & attractive rental housing in an excellent school district. read more

We recently moved into Willow Ridge, and we are very happy here. The rent is reasonable, the apartments are spacious and clean, and we particularly like the flexible pet policy. It is very quiet and peaceful here, and we love living tucked away on the side of a mountain, but less than ten minutes to pretty much everything. Michelle Cave and Sara Bustami in the office are wonderfully efficient, professional and pleasant. They have both responded instantly to any questions or maintenance issues. read more

I would not recommend the Richmond office of this leasing agency to anyone, and particularly stress that you shy away from it if you are a minority. They are attempting to charge us $300 for a window that had been an issue since the day we moved in, and that broke due to no fault of our own. They took a month to fix the window and could not be bothered to reach a contractor until multiple follow up calls were made. We have already ate charges in electric due to having a window open in winter. Trying to get them on the phone is a nightmare. I attempted to call them for two days, and kept getting directed to leave voicemails. After no response to my voicemails, I was laughed at when I showed up (even though the front desk woman recognized me) because I "must have called the wrong number" and "there were no record of my calls." Later on - THEY "FOUND" A VOICEMAIL. While I was listing my complaints, I was nothing but polite to the woman I was speaking to and was simply expressing my frustration with the circumstances. Chas Warren, a white man, rudely interjected our conversation and SCREAMED at me for mentioning that having unopenable windows is a housing code violation. Fact checked later - it is, and he was screaming that it was not and he was not going to "let me" say that. When my black roommate asked him to lower his voice, he escalated the situation as if he was going to fight her and began to speak to her in a caricature-like black accent. When sharing this story with our friends, many black women shared with us that they have been disrespected immensely by the staff here. I have strong belief that they are discriminatory and need to be retrained on how to speak to their residents. read more

Overall I have had a very good experience with Thalimer. I am moving to Richmond from Chicago and I was having difficulty getting other property companies to give me information on their rentals. Thalimer was the only one who would help me with my out of state search. Beth, and Jen answered all of my questions quickly, and helped me with the leasing process so I could secure the apartment I wanted. Quinton has been wonderful helping me coordinate my move into my new place. I have found the team at Thalimer Property Management to be flexible, understanding, helpful and professional. The only reason this is not a five star review is because there have been a few times I have emailed the property company as a whole (not just an individual email address) and it has taken days for them to respond. My needs are eventually met, but the timeliness could be improved. read more

Highly recommended if you like staggeringly incompetent management. In the past 4 months, they've managed not to lose checks twice. As other people here have mentioned, they will never answer your calls. I have had to go to their offices in person 3 times now because no one would answer despite calling them multiple times every hour, for several hours. They wrongfully claimed that we had had a check bounce years ago and are now penalizing us. I never thought I would avoid apartments just because of a management company, but I certainly do now. I am not sure about the number of properties Thalhimer has in Richmond, VA but please beware of Perry Place Apartments in the Manchester/Southside area. Everything started out just fine when I moved into the basement level. Justin, the heartless prick of a leasing agent, neglected to inform us of the leaking window and mold issue that our apartment had previously. I'll just say when it rained IT POURED! And the floor board in our living room showed it. This issue was not only annoying but embarrassing because my roommate and I never wanted company over. The wooden floor in the living room developed a dark permanent wet spot about 3feet wide and we had to continuously move our TV back and forth to mop up excess water whenever it rained. Maintenance was never reliable. They have a sorry excuse for emergency maintenance that never answers the phone. The BLACK MOLD on the living room walls and ceiling came back every single time maintenance would "clean it up and put a sealed paint over it". They gave us a small humidifier to help with the moisture control, but my roommate and I had two jobs so we were barely home to empty the bucket that would fill up with water after two hours! So the humidifier would auto shut down if no one dumped the bucket which would just bring the moisture and mold right back!!! I had the worst allergic reaction to the mold and my roommate and I BEGGED for months to be moved to a new apartment but they either ignored our emails/calls or would make excuses about why we couldn't move. The rental office is not on site and you can only talk to management in person if you set up an appointment WHICH IS RIDICULOUS! After being so fed up, I threatened to send the same pictures that I showed management of my inflamed skin with rashes to the news! Well clearly they didn't want that bad publicity because as soon as I sent that email, I was told with in minutes that we could break our lease with no charge. That was the BEST news I heard that whole year. Even though I was happy to be moving out, I was still unsatisfied because our lease was ending in the next two months anyway. So they milked us for our rent money for almost a year until I threatened to expose the mold issue to the news. If I would've known how scared they were of bad publicity, I would've taken my photos to the news months before that! But I digress.....please stay away from PERRY PLACE and if you do chose to move in then DO NOT live in that basement. And one more thing, I ran into an old friend whose boyfriend actually lived in my exact apartment a couple years before me and she described the EXACT SAME issues word for word before I could even finish telling her my horror story. This means that Justin and the rest of management had prior knowledge of the leaking, flooding, and mold issue! Yet they neglected to inform me when they showed the apartment and also never did anything to repair the hell hole! Such a sorry excuse for a management team. Worst decision of my life! I'm still paying dermatologist bills to date and I've moved out over 3 months ago! read more

A few days ago both me and my roommate were told via email that we didn't turn our rent in and therefore charge a $60 late fee along with this months rent, which i DID turn in. I have called and emailed multiple times in order to figure this issue out, yet still no replies even though I only have seven days to pay the fee/"late rent" before i get kicked out. (I will post pictures of the emails/phones calls not answered asap) I'm still wishing i could give them zero stars (especially since i didn't even post about the time they power washed the building and blasted water into my room and did not reimburse anything that got wet and muddy including electronics :) ) DO NOT RENT WITH THEM! In dealing with the staff and maintenance they were always friendly and anything that needed to be fixed was done promptly. Affordability was also a big issue for me but this apartment most certainly fit the bill. There was not an absorbent amount to pay for rent and utilities to where I could not manage as a single parent. I would highly recommend these apartments for your future home. read more

The price of rent is obscene considering: Properties and landscaping/grounds are neglected and left to overgrow and collect garbage. They provided only two garbage cans to hold the contents of over 20 apartment units. All windows are PAINTED shut so there is no fresh air EVER - not that it would matter as if you opened a window - the only air you would get is rotting with dog-crap and flies. If you want to experience living in Dickensian England, where garbage, excrement, and derelict people are your landscape, then "live" in a Thalhimer property. read more

Worst company I have ever had to deal with. I lived over at Perry Place while I was attending VCU. When I moved in it was a brand new apt building that was still under renovation. When my roommates and I first moved in we thought it was a beautiful, affordable place. After the first month problems ensued. The AC never worked so we were dripping sweat until the fall months. Whenever it rained the main window in the living room gushed out water and mold began growing on the walls. I am extremely allergic to mold and actually ended up in the hospital because of how bad the mold in our apartment was. Week after week I was in and out of the drs office getting meds and what were apartment people doing about it? Absolutely NOTHING. I had to hire an attorney to break my lease and leave bc they refused to let me out of it. This to them wasn't considered an unsafe living environment. Right so me going to the hospital bc of the mold outbreak wasn't considered unsafe...oh and what about the fact that there were regular break ins with former tenant turned alcoholic/drug addict. These leasing people are a joke and so is the apartment complex. Don't be fooled by the appliances, look elsewhere. There are so many other leading offices and properties that are much better than them. read more

The very fair low down on Perry Place Apts: Location: A couple of years ago, this was a great location with lots of vegetation and little plots of land on each block. Now high rise apartments have taken over and there isn't a piece of grass to p!$$ on. Croakers Spot and Legends Brewery are within 2 blocks. Fire and smoke hazard: There are NO WINDOWS to open in the units. Make sure you get a top floor with a balcony or a 2nd (ground) floor with a patio. You cannot access your patio from the street- only maintenance can. Last year, residents on the 1st floor were removed since MOLD was a huge problem. The patios LEAK water during rainstorms (even with the new doors) and mold is evident as well. Entry: There is a call box hooked to your cell/home number, pressing #6 on your phone will buzz them in. There are cameras around the entire complex parking area. The spaces are pretty tight to park in and some people just do not know how to park. Space: TINY one bedrooms. Only 1 clothes closet. No other closets in the unit for storage or coats. The size of the bathroom is pretty OK, not much storage area, shower only, large vanity mirror. Excellent cabinet space in the kitchen, wonderful new appliances. Cherry wood and marble countertop. It is a 'loft' from the kitchen to the bedroom. Utilities: Besides the fact that the thermostat has issues knowing when to turn on the AC when set, the cooling and heating system works well. Low cost. Pretty good water temperatures. Bathroom sink gets clogged and maintenance must be called. Verizon Fios and WiFi are included in rent, which is excellent! All you pay for are the movies you rent. Horrible unit lighting outside of natural light. The washer/dryer combo is the WORST INVENTION EVER. Not energy efficient and several issues concerning drying clothes and filtering lint. Noise level: Old paper factory so it has nice thick walls between neighbors. The problem is the hallway. A light conversation out there can be heard if you are in your apartment. So when loud students come in at 3 am yelling or small annoying dogs (which there are a lot of here), it is disturbing. The Bose speaker system in the unit is pretty nice. Fitness center and pool: Small. The pool is in the middle of the parking lot and is part of the sidewalk to the main street. Accessible by tunnel. The fitness center has what you need for the most part. Not high traffic area. There is a bathroom and a 'business center' with sofas and pool table down here. No TV. Only 2 TVs in fitness center work and are difficult. Management: You usually have no contact with them. They are pretty good about returning your emails. Problem I have with them is that they are able to enter your apartment at will, whether they are showing your unit or fixing it. Pest control comes maybe every 3-4 months. You can opt out of this service based on time frames and pets. Also, it is pretty INCONVENIENT that you must travel down to their main office on Marshall St to drop off rent. I have heard some people have had a problem with one of the managers Justin, but I have yet to come by any issues. Maintenance: Mr. Ron is excellent. The owner of the building is always around and always helpful. Lease: If you want to have a sublease, YOU have to pay the $200 transfer fee and YOU are responsible for finding a new tenant and showing the apt and the sublease MUST pay their own application fee and go through the whole process. Ridiculous. You have to give 60 day notice of termination or it auto renews... The WORST PART is, it has to be on the first of the month. So if your lease began May 30, your notice has to be in by March 1!!! Overall: I had no major issues staying in this complex. I was very disappointed with the change of scenery and the noise level when students started moving in this area, but for the most part, it's a quiet and safe area with mainly graduate students and no children families (as of 2014). Everyone pretty much keeps to themselves. It is a very convenient location to everything. The 9th St bridge is right out the door and it's 0.9 miles long and you are in the heart of downtown. A few blocks down and you have access to Brown Island. Forest Hill Park is nearby. No groceries stores around here though. I would recommend this complex to those that are new to the area and want to be able to get around the city, but are content without vegetation or large apartment units. read more

Worst company I have EVER had to deal with. Not only is the owner of the property Ben a complete and total asshole but it seems like everyone working there doesn't give a damn about there tenants. I had numerous requests to fix things and they would half ass fix them. The secure gates almost NEVER worked. The apartment was brand new when I moved in but slowly but surely things started to need work and you would have couldn't just tell one of the workers at thalhimers what was going on no you had to email them the request and it could take 48 hours for it to get fixed. They are literally the worst company I have ever rented from and I would not suggest ANYONE living in their apartments as nice as they seem, they are extremely over priced, maintenance takes forever to get anything done, and they truly don't care about you as a person as long as they are getting there money. I have waited over 49 days to receive a notice in the mail about what fixes were done at the property I rented and still have not heard anything from them. They are scam artists and just plain horrible people to work with. Do your research and stay as far away from them as possible. read more

Do not rent anything managed by Thalhimer. Our daughter moved out in April and we have been calling and emailing for weeks trying to get the security deposit back, along with a refund of overpaid rent. If they owe you money, they apparently ignore you. They are very quick, however, to slap a "Failure to Pay Rent" notice on you -- despite the fact that the rent HAD been paid on time and was proven to have been paid on time. That happened twice since Thalhimer took over management from Clachan Properties. Never had a single issue when Clachan was managing the building. read more

Why can't I give 0 stars? Ms. Keller, Ms. Beck-Parmele, and Mr. McDougald at Thalhimer property management (900 West Marshall) are the absolute WORST, immoral people I have ever dealt with. We lived in the same apartment for 3 years and loved it! Until Thalhimer took over management the last half of our last year. In 8 months we dealt with lost checks, extremely delayed responses, complete lack of professionalism, and inability to repair any maintenance request. Being a military family, we have since moved on to our next duty station and have still been fighting tooth-and-nail to remove an unjustified charge to our account and refund our measly deposit. Since then, they had the audacity to demand us remove our poor online reviews! Personally, I don't think they deserve a pat on the back for finally following up with us and resolving this issue after over a month of rude back and forth discussions. I can't believe my husband is fighting for this country and there are people like this who abuse our freedoms. It upsets me that so many other people have likely been swindled by this management team and may not be in the position my husband and I are to pursue it to justice. I have lived at Stonewood Apartments for twenty plus years. It is a peaceful family oriented community that watches out for each other. It is surrounded by neighborhood schools, restaurants, and a variety of stores to shop. There is an onsite courtsey officer which is great. Maintenance is always friendly and on top of things. The Property Manager is awesome!! she always greets you with a smile, she is attentive to the needs of the residents, and she plans great functions for residents to attend. The Community Yard sale is always a big hit. I love living at Stonewood, and would highly recommend it to others. read more

This company is the worst!! I don't even know where to start with all the negative things I have experienced with this company. First of all, I viewed and apartment and was told I would be moving into an identical apartment. That was the biggest lie ever. As well as it not being identical to what I originally viewed, It was FILTY when I moved in. There was still things in the fridge, dirt everywhere. Everything was broken. Cabinets nailed shut. The bathroom door didn't have a door handle. Holes in wall. Cheap paint job done that painted over outlets. I could go on forever. They are horrible with responding to your needs. Horrible with responding to anything. I will definitely not be renting from this company again and recommend that at all cost for everyone to avoid renting from this company. I cant even begin to describe what a horrible company this is. I have put in maintenance request and they have stated they need to contact the owner of the building to get those request taken care of and then of course they NEVER get done. The apartment building was nice and brand new i will give them that. But the neighbors were horrible. Every complaint I had was just looked the other way. They have NO concept of customer service. I have been trying to get out of my lease since JANUARY and they stated they didn't have a "buy out policy" which is beyond annoying because no part of me wanted to stay there and throw my money out of the window. They ignore your request. They have the worst customer service. One of the most annoying things is that they don't have a website where I can pay rent I literally have to drive to the leasing office which mind you is off Marshall and I live off Porter so it's completely out of my way. I have no idea how this company can still be in business. They have done nothing to make me renter happy. Also, I was supposed to live in a "secure" facility which is the biggest fucking joke because half the time the gates were open so ANYONE could you walk into the apartment complex. I thought renting with Monroe properties was bad but they are nothing compared to renting with this company. The management is unbeliebly horribe, every single person lacks customer service skills. I honestly dont even know if half the time they know what they are doing. Working with Joey has been the biggest joke. He is extremely rude and incompetent. DO NOT RENT WITH THALHIMER! My husband and I moved in to our unit less than a month ago, we were taking over a sublease but within the first week we noticed a termite drop tube growing in our bedroom, the stove clock had been punched in, the ice machine was ripped out of the freezer and our only lighting in the kitchen/living constantly shorted out and stopped working randomly. Keep in mind that this was our FIRST WEEK living in the building. We had gone up to the leasing office and told them that we weren't going to sign the lease until all of these problems were fixed, especially the termites. It took them two weeks to get exterminators out to our unit and they did not spray in our unit, all they did was remove the drop tube and spray outside. At first we were told that the termites would die out within a few days but the problem began to get worse, the drop tube grew back overnight, and now we were beginning to see termites with wings (if you are familiar with termites this means that they are swarming and that the colony has gotten very large) and they were all over our stuff. The drop tube grows directly over my dresser so every morning I wake up to my furniture covered in their dropping. I have found swarmer termites on my bed, counters, floor, and my cat's water dish. We went back to the leasing office and we were then told that it could take up to 90 days for the Terminex to kill off the termites. Since we are leasing for a year, that means that 1/4 of our time spent here will be spent with a termite infestation. We had tried to ask for a discount on rent but they refused. We then asked to switch units but they are now trying to say that we have to find someone else to sublease our place before we can go. So we are being forced to make someone else live in a unit that has a very noticeable termite problem, and not to mention is possibly structurally unsafe since the termites are in our ceiling... AND WE HAVEN'T EVEN SIGNED A LEASE! We are in contact with a lawyer but I urge anyone who is considering living here to not do it. This is not an isolated incident either, our neighbor had his ceiling collapse due to mold and it took them over a month to respond to him.
