    Faulkner Animal Hospital - Reception

The staff is wonderful, vets and techs top notch and prices reasonable. They provide great care and accept walk-ins. They provide pure necessary care. Highly recommend!

My dog (and my wallet) endured unnecessary tests…read more I was previously told that Cushing's was essentially a "process of elimination" type of disease - it looks very similar to diabetes so if our dog responded to insulin, it would be determined he did not have Cuching's. However, while my dog was at Faulkner for medical boarding, the test was administered, without my consent, and I was then charged roughly $170 Duplicative tests were done and charged for, and the cost for the duplicative test was significantly higher than a different clinic Our dog lost his vision. We took him to Animal Eye Clinic where they performed various tests, including an IOP (eye pressure) check. When relaying this to Faulkner during a follow up, the vet recommended we "double check" his IOP. I naively thought this would be free because my dog just had gotten the test a couple days prior and this was not something I asked for, rather something the doc volunteered. Well, no surprise here, my dog's pressures were fine (consistent with what was determined at the Animal Eye Clinic), but not only were we charged, the price for the same exact test was significantly MORE at Faulkner Inaccurate assessment and diagnosis Faulkner repeatedly told me my dog's cataracts were not significant and couldn't be the reason for the blindness we were reporting. We were told not to worry about his vision as that is secondary to the bigger issue, his diabetes (despite my telling them he is bumping into walls and falling down stairs). However, when we went to Animal Eye Clinic, they reported that my dog's cataracts are so advanced, that while most folks with cataracts can see some (although it appears very cloudy like a foggy or dirty lens), my dogs can see absolutely nothing (as we had expected and tried to explain to Faulkner). I understand Faulkner isn't an eye specialist, however, cataracts are extremely common and any competent vet should be able to appropriately diagnose. Not proactively transparent about costs I've already spoken to this a bit, BUT I will add that when we finally started proactively asking how much things would cost, we were under quoted for the testing they wanted to do to gauge how much insulin my dog would need. So, on the day of service, I was quite surprised by the bill. Still, I was demanded to pay the price at checkout, not the price quoted prior. Long waiting times I thought this was typical of vet clinics UNTIL we went to Animal Eye Clinic, where our appointment time was stuck to. We have busy jobs and lives and cannot waste time waiting 30 minutes to an hour past our appointment time. Lack of detailed summary of visit Again, I thought this was normal, until I went to Animal Eye Clinic where they not only talked through all issues in a clear and detailed way, but also printed AND emailed a detailed summary of the visit I HIGHLY recommend you spend an extra 30 minutes going to Indian Land, Rockhill, Waxhaw, anywhere else to get BETTER treatment at a CHEAPER price.

If I can prevent anybody from witnessing what eyewitnessed December 8th 2025 I'm hoping this review…read morecan do that... The morning of December 8th I brought Felix a cat that I been nurturing since October a little cat that I found outside that I bought a little house for at PetSmart put it in my breezeway where he lived for 2 months .. With Halloween around the corner I was concerned because I was taking care of little Felix and a friend of his which I fed everyday and still do but doesn't hang around like Felix did so I brought Felix in and put him in the side bathroom... When my other cat Sammy who is 15 would be sleeping in another room I would bring Felix in the den and play what a good cat ...I've decided to then call top gun my veterinarian to have him neutered and vaccinated this is a little cat that I brushed cleaned his eyes and nurtured from a little kitten that was outside He wasn't considered feral!!! That evening before I brought him to be neutered I said Daddy's going to take you tomorrow morning and we're going to get you fixed and you'll be meeting your older sister this little guy was so thankful to be in and warm and saved The morning of the 8th got up cleaned his little box that was in the tub in the bathroom he was using Fed him He scratched his little scratching pole climbed it looked up at me like I was the biggest savior! I brought Little Felix into top gun veterinarian the girls at the office couldn't believe how chill he was That's an exact quote as I took him out of his carrier show him off, They assured me things would be fine they would call me around 11:30 12:00 remember I know they take lunch from 12:00 to 1:00... I get a call a little after 1:00 to pick up your little Felix everything went well and he's great takes me 25 minutes to get there I paid the girl at the desk Andy came out with Felix I unzipped the carrier look down Felix was on his back eyes were bulging as far as they could go wide open glazed over eyelids will blue and white paws stretched out extracted and he was choking Little foam in the mouth it was obvious he was no longer mentally there and he was choking for a long time They said oh my god he's having a allergic reaction? I said oh my God and they rushed him in the back me not knowing at the time That being on his back was a death sentence!!! He wasn't monitored They couldn't have even looked at him when they called me He was choking for a while a long while... They worked on him in the back and told me that they felt he was brain damaged Of course he hadn't received oxygen for a while quite a while He was on his back choking on vomit and phlegm while he was under anesthesia probably never came out of it properly it's devastating it's horrific!! I had the owner call me because the vet didn't know what to say when she called cuz she could not disagree with me that he choked and then it was not a allergic reaction to the anesthesia He was on his back!! The owner said to me these things happen with a feral cats were afraid to put our hands In carriers they might bite us ?I said this was a cat I nurtured from a kitten He wasn't feral he was brushed hugged and loved!! She's side and said what would you like me to do?? All I know is that this little guy trusted me and I am devastated I feel like I've done something terribly wrong by even bringing him to be neutered it's an awful feeling awful feeling .. mind you this carry was a very nice carrier with a top that zipped all the way around inside I put a small blanket that Felix would sleep on inside his little house to make him comfortable.. if you remember December 8th was a very cold rainy day, if they felt that The blanket would jeopardize him coming out of anesthesia properly they should have removed it ,They didn't say that I'm thinking if he was on his back how did he turn over how could he turn over that poor guy suffered and it breaks my heart

It is an excellent veterinary practice for outpatient (is that right for pets?) as well as a full scale animal hospital with surgeries and overnight recovery facilities. Being active supporters in getting the Lancaster Animal Shelter ship-shape, we met Dr. Hill and her staff. Dr. Hill has volunteered to tend to the shelter once a week, maintains medications, vaccinations and treatments for us as well as administered them to sick animals. The do spay and neuter surgeries in the early mornings each Tuesday and Thursday. Her staff is wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable and talented. And do they love animals! Don't be surprised when a blue scrub attired woman comes around to pet and maybe hug and carry around your pet while you are waiting to see the vet. Very genuine and caring. Dr. Hill is one of four or so vets in the Lancaster - York county area and is a net-worker among those professionals. They share in work and in problem solving and if some facility is too busy they arrange to lighten the load to accommodate customers. Great people doing great work to care for our collective animals, strays or those in your homes. Very please with Southern Paws that is in the process of building a new, larger facility with more space in Lancaster County, so stay tuned.
