Hired for inheritance theft case as executer, told them all the assets were stolen before we signed anything and told them i would need to make a payment plan, only had $3500 for retainer to start, After papers signed and funds deposited i sent pics of theft, copy of inventory and pictures of the items police reports and picture of people stealing the property this was almost a year since i hired them Within 1 month they blew thru retainer They hired intern to work on case that didnt get any of the info i gave right and rewrote draft three time, charge me $2700 for their screwup nickle and dimed me even when they called me , Now got last invoice and on intern #3 Havent seen court yet and it looks like they are trying to file a dismissal of my case without even serving anyone or me even seeing a court date yet. read more

Horrible place, strung us along for three years to get the most money they could out of us, forcing mediation trials at 500 a pop, no return phone calls or emails, inconsistent communication, charged me for switching of their attorneys and had full on attorneys on important court dates that charged double what the original attorney cost to never see them or hear from them again. I was introduced to Thomas Langan on September 17th, 2020. While hired to protect my interests, my experience has been one of negligence and gaslighting. He became the trustee of my mother's special needs trust, of which I am the sole beneficiary, in November of 2020. Mr. Langan recently claimed a wire transfer failed due to a 'bank error.' When I raised concerns, he was patronizing and condescending but assured me he had checked the documentation 'thrice.' I eventually discovered the truth through documentation. He had personally signed a bank document where he mixed up a 2 and a 5 in my account number. Due to this error, which contained Mr. Langan's electronic signature, the transfer failed. He then authorized a second transfer without informing me, which also failed. When I asked for the bank records, he refused to provide them. Instead, he feigns ignorance or confusion regarding my very clear lines of questioning, despite stating he has "received", "understood", or that I was "clear". I have not received the information I have requested numerous times. Worst of all, the firm recently attempted to strip me of the title to my own home. I asked for help paying my mortgage after recent abuse following 4 and a half years of homelessness and domestic violence of which the firm was aware. I purchased a home with my ex last year after the trust failed to find me adequate housing. I requested assistance in assuming my mortgage to separate from my abusive ex-partner and qualify for mortgage payment assistance. Instead of removing my ex and drafting the deed in my name, the Trustee and firm drafted a deed that removed my name entirely and transferred my house into the Trust controlled by Mr. Langan. Had I signed this document, I would have been disqualified from state mortgage assistance programs and blocked from assuming the loan myself. This would have left me trapped on a mortgage with my abuser, with no ownership rights. They attempted to coerce me into total dependency rather than helping me achieve the independence I deserve. I receive RSDI (like retirement, not needs-based), not SSI (needs-based), so my house isn't even an asset that counts against me. The firm insists I'm still receiving SSI, but I haven't since shortly after my mother's passing, and they refuse to keep themselves informed. This trust isn't protecting my benefits, their lack of knowledge has actually caused me to lose coverage at least twice. Now they've put me in a situation that could cost me my home and trigger critical health crises. Instead of owning these mistakes, the firm blames communication issues on my disability. They refuse reasonable accommodations and will not address my medical team's concerns that taking my autonomy will lead to serious crises. They charge roughly $50 per email, penalizing me for asking questions to clarify administrative errors. Additionally, they require over 16 people to administer what they consider to be a trust with "very minimal assets" and aren't administering it correctly, incurring hefty and unnecessary fees they often try to hide or justify. To justify their behavior, they attempt to paint me as incompetent. The reality is that I am an honors psychology student in a national honors society. While the firm charged the trust over $80,000 in fees over 5 years, they failed to protect me from homelessness or secure housing. In contrast, I was able to secure my own home using a MSHDA first-time homebuyer loan with down payment assistance in less than a month, relying solely on my disability income. If I could achieve this with limited resources, there is no excuse for a professional firm with vast resources to fail while draining my inheritance. They present a kind face to the public, but behind closed doors, they isolate vulnerable clients and label valid concerns as 'instability.' If you are working with special needs individuals, this firm is not safe. read more

I had a big issue with one of the attorneys at that firm. I got to the very end, and they shifted me over to a different attorney and told me that the attorney taking all my information had retired. I put my trust into that firm, and it seemed it was a roundabout through the whole eall es trying to keep it hush-hush, like we don't understand what you're saying. When I was revealing the incidents that my siblings had put me through. He was reassuring and helping me. He would tell me about other cases, put my feet up while he jacks up all the hours on me, and reassure me that we got this. The lawyer that was given to me by the main lawyer couldn't follow through with what I was asking him to do. The law firm was aware of my issues with me having a problem with my siblings shifting it into a form of sabotage, as they knew I hired them because they removed my personal and business items before I could get to them, and police reports, and everything. I wish I could explain the result, but it was coming down to the greed of how much the lawyer wasn't going to get paid, and he wasn't happy about that, so he tried to get as much as he could right off the cuff. I never met any of them. I was too ill after my mother's passing. My father passed four months before that with my sister, causing issues when my dad died, so I was depressed, and I am a creative person, and I am challenged with English. I said over and over to the lawyer I showed him a list, multiple pictures, and I had receipts, I had enough for him, but he said I still didn't have the itemized list and he was worried about if I had to testify but then my sister didn't even do any form of a list and my lawyer still let it go didn't represent me zealously. Here comes the devastating part. My mother explained to me, be careful with my siblings upon my death. Specifically, my sister had issues with me treating me like a black sheep. I had no idea the amount of envy my sister was hiding from me. I am a starving artist, and I have been struggling in my life, trying to get the dream that was brought to me off the ground. They set me back with that law firm and my siblings, so I'm in the process of getting everything together. One more thing, the main lawyer and the lawyers: I contacted the main lawyer, and I said, "Hey man, this amount is out of hand." Then I had the check in my hand, so by now I'm super depressed. I waited like four months to see a check. But then, within that time, they sent me another bill. Because I was talking with the new lawyer that they gave to me after the one I had previously had, I talked to the main lawyer for a little bit. A whole lot of the receptionists learned my voice. Then I talked to the billing department. WoW So what happened? Then I realized that was a strategic move when billing came and sent me that new statement, it's going to be an issue trying to fight. I had had enough. I had to get my mind, my soul, my spirit away from this lawyer garbage!! They even DID NOT CARE about helping my client have the due process to do the American dream. I can't even think what they were thinking. He put his feet up on me and didn't do what I found out what lawyers are supposed to do: zealously represent me They triple-charged me in the end, so it's not. I left a bad goggle review then I got a returned call asking me to please take the review down. Then I get a email stating that the attorney called me back. So far, my experience with Attorney Thav has been pretty awful. My uncle passed away in October and the police in Waterford Township designated me to handle his burial. I reached out to attorney Thav quickly as I was looking to get compensated for the burial since my uncle working for Oakland County prison system for many many years. I paid the $3500 retainer fee...and waited...and waited... for 1 month and decided to call... of course this call was charged against my retainer fee. The firm bounced me around to 3 different lawyers and a paralegal each reminding me id have to share the estate with my uncle's other nieces and nephews. i said "This is fine." They then proceeded to give me documents to sign with the other heirs improperly identified; wrong names, wrong addresses, etc. etc. Now here i am with no Letter of Authority to at least see if my uncle had turned on his heat in the house for the winter to make sure the pipes dont burst. They have assured me there will be a date in court within "the next few weeks" but have heard nothing back from them since. They seem too busy to be bothered. I'd definitely seek an attorney elsewhere as the "Yelp!" reviews seem to be more acurate than most other sites for this firm. read more

brother gf stole my inheritance , sent them photos as proof, letters of authority, police reports, the c&d, gave them 3500 retainer which lasted a week , they kept hiring legal aids which screwed up spelling of names filed to court, pointed out mistakes they made on draft 4 times and charged me . they lied about serving her and her family, showed no proof of what was going on with case so i stopped paying them no more then $200 a month on invoices which seemed only work they could do . talked to Mr. ryke he said he would call me back never did , found out case was being dismissed because of their screw ups without any communication from them, then after they were mailed termination letter that said contact by email only, they broke that proving they were illiterate and tried calling me. any work you need done by them, just read up and take your time , file it pro-se because you cant do any worse then these ambulance chasers did. read more

I was given a quote for a probate case of between 6 to 8k for the case and it was supposed to be done in 6 to 8 months! the case cost me 22k and it took over a year to complete! my lawyer was incompetent and useless! They assigned me a lawyer in Grand Rapids that I never met, the case was a Macomb county case. The attorney Dan didn't pull title work before starting probate and he missed the fact that title had already passed to 3 heirs via the Lady Bird deed. His failure to pull title put an unauthorized representitive in charge of selling the property owned by other family members. I listed and sold it in 2 days and when my title company ran title 3 days later they found title passed via a Lady Bird deed to 3 other people one that died a few years ago! This negates the sale and all the prep and cleaning that went into it. We have to start all over hopefully I don't lose the buyer. read more

My matter was approved by the court to close over a month and a half ago and they still have not done it. Called every day for the last 8 business days, multiples times a day and have received 0 returned calls or emails. My first attorney on this matter quit abruptly about 6 months in. The guy that took over my case did nothing unless prodded multiple times. From misfiling petitions to the court and not realizing it until I asked, to not sending out documents to be signed for weeks at a time. Then he had a heart attack and retired. On to attorney number 3. Now no one will call me back despite having paid over 13k in legal fees to this firm to date. You have to wonder what is going on with them and how they treat their people to have so much turnover. Maybe this review will get me a response but I'm not holding my breath. I was "represented" by Jason Dandy of ThavRyke also known as Michprobate. I paid a $7,500 retainer. The crooked lawyer didn't inform me he would charge me $5,700 travel time to drive instead of flying. When I received the bill I was shocked and initially he asked what I thought was reasonable and then he told me to take the matter up with another attorney. He ignored my phone calls and then sent me a bill for $10,000 and asking if I no longer wanted him to "represent" me. This is what passes for ethical behavior for lawyers today. As Mr. Thav said, "something happens in families when the parents die." Boy was he right about that. Wish he'd expound on it! It's often the youngest child who stays home, when the others move here and there and everywhere, and the youngest child benefits from that, which they don't like to remember, but what they want to remember is how they helped their old parents when they got really old. They become the "Personal Representative," too, when the parents finally do die, and then the "something happens." If the parents were quite old, the family has been spread out for a long time, the child that stayed home feels entitled. It's human nature, even the Bible says it, "you will cleave to your spouse," the new family takes precedence, the old family is not that important any more, except to the parents; but they've died. And suddenly your sibling is all about their new family, and not you; and you're shocked and upset and finally EXTREMELY angry, when valuable things you remember seem to have just disappeared, and your "Personal Representative" doesn't communicate, and they have an attorney and you don't! So if it's worth it to you, you too have to find someone who knows estate law. That's what happened to me, and that's what I did, and it WAS worth it to me. It was expensive, but sometimes you just have to defend your interests, and your emotions too; and in this world, you need a capable attorney to do it.
