When I was unemployed for over a year after losing my well paying corporate job due to COVID, I was depressed. I applied for 20-50 jobs every week. Made it to 4th and 5th round interviews, and applied to things I was under, exactly and over qualified for. Depression turned to despair and other staffing agencies I had reached out to from the start couldn't find anything or things never worked out. When I contacted A-List, they were so friendly, professional and optimistic. They took time to listen and carefully considered the job descriptions that I was looking for. I got matched pretty quickly with a temporary position that I really enjoyed. Then again in January of 2022, they matched me to the place I am still working at. I love this job and will be hired on full time very soon. They couldn't have matched me with a more perfect job! I've been in contact with several advisers since last year. They aren't helpful at all. They will not call you or email you with job opportunities. You have to keep calling them and get told the same lie"we don't have anything at the moment." I don't believe they submit you for any job that they say they will submit you to. They were great! The person who I primarily worked with, Lisa Marie, was amazing. She had a great attitude, and was able to find me an assignment the day that I interviewed with A-List. I had my interview with her on Wednesday, my interview with my assignment on Thursday and started my first day that next Monday. Steffanie was more than happy to take over the interview process. Moving from Louisiana to Austin without a job is a bit nerve racking, to say the least, but the A List has helped me through this process, especially Trisha and Megan. When I went in to meet with Megan, we went over my skills, experience, and my work place preferences. After talking with her, she ended up giving me a lot more confidence in my experience than I had when I walked in the office. Out of all the temp agencies I've worked for (and I've been through a few here in Austin), Ashby Staffing is by far the BEST service in town. First of all, they are actually LOCAL, so many local businesses prefer them over any of the others. They are also a little pricier than the other services in Austin, indicating their standards for placing quality employees with their clients. From an employee's perspective, their staffing managers really listen when you tell them what you are looking for in a position, and are totally understanding when you feel you weren't placed in the right position, or matched with the right type of company. They are quick to find work as long as you are putting forth the effort of calling for assignments, and they were always available when I had questions or concerns. Although it took a couple of tries, I'm happy to be where I am because of them, and will always seek their services when I need to. read more

This temp agency is a goldmine that specializes in admin/clerical work. When I needed to be employed the very next day, they managed to find me a job. Not to mention, they are extremely cooperative and helpful and will try their best to find you any position that fits your criteria, and if you need something in a hurry they will keep you in mind should anything last-minute come up. They are efficient, organized, and you will get paid promptly every week. If you need help finding the location of the job site, they are patient over the phone as you wander aimlessly in your car. I would never use words like "amazing" or "extremely cooperative" in regard to this group. Not sure what has happened to the staff currently in that office, but there is a lack of the following specific qualities: *follow-through *honesty *professional communication *timely request fulfillment *appropriate talent -to -career placement *correct and timely payroll I have worked with two other local agencies and I will continue to work with them rather than Ashby/A-List. I had a great experience with A List! I had just quit my job where I felt overworked and extremely underpaid. I didn't want to commit to anything full time because I was so traumatized from my last work experience so I came to A List. They listened to my request to not apply to anything full time but to just dabble in different things until I was ready. After my first call with them I came in for an interview, explained my situation and they asked typical interview questions. After that I did some online tests, which did not really affect anything they said. Then within the week they called me for 1-3 day assignments. My assignments ranged from Jewelry assembly to receptionist positions. Pay was generally $12-$14 /hr which is pretty typical for temp positions. My last temp position was for a two week admin position that lasted four months and has now turned full time. It was nice because I was able to almost test run the job before committing. Also since they were paying the temp agency a large fee for me they were able to give me a huge raise and I became salary. A List was there every step of the way, constantly checking in and always prompt with their responses. You feel as if they really care- because they do! read more

At first starting out with this staffing agency seemed good. They got me signed on right away and found an ok job. Off the bat, I noticed they weren't really listening to what I was wanting to peruse in a future job and insisted on taking a position I was already experienced in. Wasn't completely opposed to it at first because I needed to find some work quickly. I received a summary sheet of my new role with an hourly temp rate and a salary rate when I would be hired ok permanently. I should have foreseen this trait would turn into a problem because they aren't focused on helping you...only collecting money from the client. I put in my 760 hours required to go from temp position to a permanent position. Once it was time to sign on to my new company, the company refused to pay me anymore than what the temp company was paying me. This also says a lot about the company who wanted to hire me. But my main concern with Erin at A-list was as I am telling her my concerns and wanting her to fight for me to get a livable salary as promised from this company..she doesn't..she left it in my hands to try to negotiate with this company. I expressed my concerns and how upset I was and it went in one ear and out he other. As I'm telling her I can't afford to stay on a temp pay for a heavy of a work load I'm getting, her solution was just to quit and that she couldn't find me anything else and that I had no other option. Then when finally deciding to stay (because the bills have to be paid regardless) she assumed I was getting the salary amount..I told her I wasn't and had to reiterate a summary of a 30 minute conversation to her that she just must have tuned out. Months go by without anyone from A-list reaching out to me or my current boss. I've emailed about other job postings they occasional send me by some email bot and I never get a response. My overall opinion is that they aren't very personable and won't fight for you to get an pay that was sold to you in the first place. You won't hear from them to check on you, even though they are your employer. read more

Our business used A List staffing to locate candidates for a small focus group assignment in the Lockhart area, using people in that area to replicate a potential jury pool. A List gave us specific feedback in the selection process that they had found about 160 candidates in the Lockhart/Niederwald/Caldwell County area. However, when we held the focus group, it turned out that none of A List's candidates were actually from Lockhart/Niederwald, and they were all from Austin. It was relayed very clearly that we were looking for a narrow demographic of Lockhart-based individuals, and that Austin/Travis County-based individuals should be excluded. A List completely failed to do this. A List argued back to us that we had the chance to review the candidates' addresses when A List forwarded us their resumes. However, this was untruthful because none of the resumes included the candidate's address. They also argued back that they had "put a lot of work into our case." Sorry, but just because you put a lot of work into something doesn't mean you actually did a good job. If someone pays me to paint a picture of a giraffe, I don't get any brownie points if I spend 20 hours painting a picture of a dog. read more
