The only reason I'm giving this a 3-star rating is because of my stylist; she was amazing! I got my hair done a few weeks ago, and as I said, the stylist was great, but I was under the impression that salons are a relaxing place, which is the reason why I booked in the first place. I am so disappointed because it was far from relaxing. One stylist had their kids in the salon, and I get that child care is hard to find, but the kids were being loud, running around, and distracting. I'm all for having kids in the salon, but they need to be respectful of clients and other stylists. This was my first time getting my hair done and treating myself, and I just wish I could've actually relaxed without having to worry about someone else's kids. read more

There is a ton of talent here! I usually always leave with my hair looking amazing. Unfortunately, I did not leave happy with my results last time. I usually ignore the fact that a lot of the stylists are young and loud and spend a lot of time yelling across the salon at each other and playing around. I'm all about someone enjoying their workplace! Unfortunately, I genuinely feel like this same unprofessional behavior is what damaged my hair last time. My stylist clearly didn't pay attention and forgot about me after running off to speak to a colleague. My stylist admitted to leaving bleach on my hair too long, overprocessing it, and using a shade of toner that wasn't what I normally get. I didn't get the blowout that I paid for and left with straw-like hair that I've been trying to nourish and fix ever since. I hope that the professional nature and attention to detail is dialed in more, because I do look forward to continuing to come to this salon. read more

If you're like me and thought you could just bypass years of school and experience and just *bleach and tone at home*, you know how scary it can be when you end up looking like a legitimate crazy person. We love a fall girly, but pumpkin spice latte hair is only cute when it's on purpose. Trying to find the right stylist to do a color correction is equally as scary. Not only is it an incredibly expensive mistake, but you have to feel comfortable and confident that your stylist has the skills and expertise to reverse the unfortunate consequences of your poor decision making. Let me save you the distress and effort in searching, because Courtney at The Abbey Salon is your girl. She completely exceeded my expectations at my appointment. Courtney is incredibly talented, but she's also just a very down to earth and relatable person. She listens to her clients, but she also has the expertise to guide you in the direction to have the best results possible. I mean, the proof is in the photos-- which I will leave in this review. From the moment I called The Abbey Salon to make an appointment, I had very good vibes! (Ms. Denise, the receptionist, is an angel!) Everyone there was super positive and professional- you know I'm how awkward it can be in a salon with weird, mean girl energy. I never once heard them say anything negative about other clients or be nasty to each other. It was a very light space, and I was comfortable 100% of the time. If I could leave 10 stars, I would! I am updating my previous one star review. My first experience I had at this salon was horrific. I left hating my hair and with two burns on my ear. After many months I decided to try the salon again because they are one of the only nice salons in Hattiesburg that accept walk ins for hair cuts. I liked the experience, my hair looks nice, and it only took ~40 minutes to cut, wash and dry my hair. read more

Horrific results. DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING HERE. I showed the stylist, K'Lee, a picture of highlights that I wanted as she had never done my hair before and I wanted to make sure she understood what I wanted. She assured me she understood the request. She said she could do the pale highlights but she wanted to give it a rich brown base dye before the highlights for contrast. She dyes my hair with and it doesn't turn it brown. It comes out strawberry blonde and says she doesn't think it needs highlights. I am not confrontational and am not in the best light to see the results and I tell her that. I come home and look at it under my natural lights and call the salon and ask them to schedule me in for K'Lee to do the the highlight, a service I paid $210 plus tip to do ($250 total), they tell me it will be an additional $88 and that's a bargain because she usually charges more than that. We discuss it the next morning via text and she says that she doesn't think she can do anything for me. They also rescheduled my appointment 3 times in 24 hours. The last reschedule was while I was in route to my appointment. I live 1.5 hrs from the salon and was 45 mins into my drive. I told them I was already half way there as they were pushing my appointment back 1.5 hours for a walk in client. The receptionist said she was sorry. I was left to find something to do while she worked on the walk in. She also did a cut while she was dying my hair. read more

This morning I called to confirm my Ouidad appointment with Lauren before driving 1.5 hours from Louisiana to the salon. I was told my appointment was at 11:15 today before getting on the highway. I drove and made it to the salon 20 minuets before my appointment and was greeted by 3 ladies at the front desk. They told me my appointment was next Tuesday. I showed them my phone and the call log of my phone call this am confirming today's appointment because I had not received a text. I was leery so I called before making the drive. All 3 ladies went to talk try to see who I talked to this am. I waited 15 minuets before anyone acknowledge me again. They said no one had taken my call. I again showed my call log. Lauren passed the message along that she was booked for the day and that she looked at my hair and thought someone else could potentially fit me in, but she could not. I drove 1.5 hours for a special cut because I prefer the Ouidad cut. Lauren never spoke to me, she had her co workers tell me I could not have my hair done with her today. The messenger said I could keep my appointment next week at a discount. Why would I come back to an appointment with someone who did not take a moment to speak with me and try to get me to have a cut that I did not book. I could get a professional cut in my town, not the Ouidad, which is why I drove. I can not speak for the cut itself, but I can say the way this was handled was extremely unprofessional. read more

I've been pretty disappointed just about every time I've gone to the Abbey. Most of the girls act like they don't care at all about you or what you're getting done unless you know them personally. Mia was the best stylist there. She was so personable and made you feel confident about what was being done and talked through the process and why she was doing something and what would be best for you. The last appointment I had at the Abbey I was assigned someone because the last girl to do my hair was on leave. From the moment I got called back I wanted to leave! And I definitely should have! The woman who was assigned to me was so rude and didn't even introduced herself. When I told her what I wanted to fix because of what a previous stylist told me, she basically scoffed and told me I was wrong (sorry lady I'm not a stylist! Just telling you what the last girl told me!), but she didn't think to tell me what actually needed to be done to fix my hair. She then proceeded to talk about me to another employee and I could still see them. Very rude! At this point I was over it and wanted to get up and leave, but when she came back she didn't say anything and just started putting product on my hair. Then she proceeded to cut my hair after my treatment and was rude to the point where I couldn't even tell her what I wanted done. She proceeded to charge me a ridiculous amount of money for a treatment that apparently didn't need to be done and a shampoo/cut/style even though I only wanted a cut. For reference the amount I paid for this treatment and cut (that lasted under an hour) was the same price as when I would get my hair colored for three hours! But anytime someone confronts them about pricing they just say "oh it's up to the stylist". It was overall a very upsetting experience and the staff has progressively gotten more and more rude. We used this place because my daughter's friends suggested and said the have used them. We were blown away by the looks and what appeared as services inside. After being there for 5 minutes I was already disappointed. You come to a place like this to feel relaxed and become your best. We had 10 girls in the facility with their moms getting ready for prom and nowhere to seat. My daughter has long easy to curl hair but she was not there 20 minutes. I feel if I'm paying 65.00 I should at least have the hair do make it to our home 20 minutes from the salon. My daughters wasn't the only one. Very few of the girls hairstyle lasted. These are girls that have done show choir with my daughter and their styles have lasted all day literally. I know first she didn't spend enough time on my daughter's hair, secondly obviously the products she used were not good enough and lastly when she saw it wasn't curling she said for my daughter to go home and touch it up. Note to The Abbey Staff-I'm paying you to fix it not my daughter. We will not waste our money at this facility again. read more
