When a kid "tripped over my son"

PICTURES DON'T LIE. WHAT IS DESCRIBED HERE IS EXACTLY HOW THINGS HAPPENED AND I WAS NOT MADE CONTACT WITH OR GIVEN ANY INCIDENT REPORT!!! STILL HAVENT BEEN GIVEN AN INCIDENT REPORT OR NOTES OR OFFERED A CLEAR EXPLANATION. THIS RESPONSE FROM THE BUSINESS ADMIN IS THE FIRST TIME ANYONE RESONDED TO ME IN ANY REGARD EXCEPT TO SAY "SOMEONE TRIPPED OVER YOUR KID" AND "WE WELCOME THE POLICE INVESTIGATION" PARENTS WHO WANT TO KNOW THE TRUTH: I am not a fan of ANYTHING to do with this school and since day one this place has given me the worst creepy vibes. My son has come home injured SO SO SO MANY TIMES. JUST FYI you can't enroll your child UNLESS you sign a form that states that they can pretty much do whatever they "need to do" to manage a child's behavior. I was so uncomfortable with signing this "waiver" I hired a lawyer who had to remind the school their little paper doesn't negate them from neglect and abuse. TO DATE (as of Dec 12 2023) My son has come home with VERY SUSPICIOUS scrapes, bruises, bloodied nose, busted lip, HUGE SCRATCHES, drag mark like scrapping, busted eye lid, finger nail torn off etc. Maybe one out of five communications you get will have some semblance of an explanation that might make sense. Currently the Peoria Police Department is investigating them for assault. BECAUSE I WAS TOLD ONE THING AND THE STAFF HAVE AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT STORY!! LOOK AT MY SONS FACE after "A student tripped over him" and we were given no report or anything but then they said no, he was at a desk and a kid fell into him and he did this to himself, to the police. His eye is swollen nearly shut and the bridge of his nose is PURPLE and bruised- as a Mama who used to do MMA I've seen these Injuries before ONLY AFTER A FIGHT. These are not small, unlocalized bruises- they are PERFECTLY ROUND FIST SHAPED and They are all on his FACE. A STUDENT TRIPPED OVER MY SONS FACE WAS THEIR FIRST CHOICE EXPLANATION!! This is not the first last or only institution that has feigned the illusion of "good" and got caught doing dirty deeds. I do not trust this staff and If you have any other choice GO WITH THOSE. Aces... I will get to the bottom of what you all have done to my son.

The office people are not helping when you ask for help to get your kid registered or ask questions the Peoria location was no help at all.

Website: http://coppercreek.dvusd.org I have two children with special needs issues. I came into the school with documentation for both from developmental preschools nearby that had either worked with them and had them tested by state representation or they had previously qualified for the Deer Valley School District's developmental delay preschool. This had no effect on them entering Kindergarden. And what I mean by this is that the school didn't do anything with the documentation, they certainly didn't implement any protocols or testing from the get go. I wish they had. They had to do their own assessment that took at times FOREVER to do. But policy is policy. I'd rather a more proactive approach. (Per AZ state law you can expedite this process, I did not, I wish I had for both children.) That being said, although the few frustrations I had with that, which were purely procedural, my time at the school was outstanding. The staff and teachers are amazing! (Mary, the front office secretary is on the ball! I hope she is still there with them!) Especially for the special needs department. I heard good things going in and I was not disappointed. I was with the school for 7 years. Some teachers are fantastic, (many of them have been at the school for years!) others were so so, but I'm generalizing over 7 years. The school switched Principals the end of 2013. I was not fond of the replacement Principal, however she was only there for the last end of the school year. Replacement was remedied with Mrs. McNeill in 2014-15 school year. She's fantastic. I have only good things to say about her leadership. In all, every public school is going to be reactionary instead of proactive. If you have a child with some behavior issues, I highly recommend this school because the staff here are in my opinion, fantastic. I felt respected as a member of the IEP team, they listened to my concerns and we all worked to help my children be the most successful. And THEY did go far, and I'm absolutely certain it was because of everyone's hard work. This location is land locked. So the school boundaries make the attendance in the class rooms reasonably sized. I lived out of the school zone and attended under a variance the full 7 years my children attended there. Never had a problem with getting the variance. I can't see that anyone else would if they applied for one. (It's pretty easy, the spring before the school year you are having your child attend, contact the office and they will help get you the paperwork.) The down side of this is that your child will not ride the bus. We left the school this school year 2016-17 because we moved to another location still in the same district but closer to Las Brisas, which from what I've been told is very much like Copper Creek. I'm sure at some point I'll be reviewing that one too. Some teachers from Copper Creek moved to Las Brisas, but that's not why we moved. After 7 years picking kids up, we decided to have them go to the new school they were zoned for and have them ride the bus. So far they are doing well at the new school. But I miss the relationships I had at Copper Creek. Around the corner from Copper Creek Elementary, is Hillcrest Middle School. Students who attend the Elementary school K-6 then attend Hillcrest. And then attend Mountain Ridge High School after that. All the schools are within the same block of each other. But they have the release times staggered so there usually isn't too much overlap. Its a pretty sweet setup if you ask me. Middle school aged kids, can literally walk down the street and pick up their Elementary aged siblings. Wish I lived closer, would have loved to have taken advantage of that. In all, my experience there was a VERY positive one. Will miss Copper Creek dearly!

Last year I had to take my son to the doctor so many times unnecessarily because of the same thing which every time his doctor said he was not sick and was fine to be in school . I these people seem to think parents have nothing better to do then go to the doctor everyday to satisfy them . I will be telling all of the parents I know and leaving post on every available platform .

I have learned more in the last 4 months of tutoring than I have in the last 20 years! I continue to be surprised and excited from all of the progress in each of our sessions. I used to feel extremely hopeless and depressed, which stemmed from my struggles with dyslexia, but now I'm looking forward to all that I can accomplish using the skills I'm learning with this program. I've failed in the past so many times, but now I really feel like I've found the solution I've always needed to be successful! I really felt like she came from a place of compassion and understanding and never a place of judgement. Beyond helping with the school situation, she spent time with our family to offer ideas and methods to help us with the behavior issues we were seeing at home. I really appreciated the graceful manner in which she integrated into our family dynamic - so that she could really see what was happening and offer realistic and helpful advice. From the very beginning, the teachers and staff have gone above and beyond--not just to "watch" the kids, but to truly teach, nurture, and connect with them. The growth I've seen in my children has been incredible. My oldest has graduated out but my youngest comes home excited, confident, and full of new things he's learned. What stands out most to me is how intentional the focus is on true development and connection. They don't teach just about letters, numbers, or milestones--they help each child grow into themselves with kindness, curiosity, and confidence. As a parent, specifically a single parent, I'm especially grateful for how seamlessly their approach aligns with the way I raise my children at home. The parallels between their teaching style and my parenting make it easy for my kids to absorb and retain what they're learning, which has made a huge difference in their growth. It's rare to find a place where you feel your children are not only safe, but also understood, supported, and genuinely loved. That's exactly what this center has given us. I can't recommend them highly enough!
