We had a fun class with Ms. Jenna; she's very kind and conscientious. Most of my arts center experience is with Wallingford Arts Center (now Community Arts Center) having grown up close to it. I remember wearing smocks and play clothes to those classes as a kid because we got dirty and did cool artistic stuff! Wayne Art Center told us to send kids in clothes that can get dirty so I did, but none of the other kids were dressed in anything but their Target and Boden "finest," which was just so lame. I know it's Wayne and not the arts center staff. I don't blame them or Jenna; they're reading the room. Wayne = the movie Greener Grass. My bad. Aside from some tempera, he didn't do much with paints, used pastels once, and no charcoal or other mediums that could soil clothes. I guess here, it's a b!tchfest liability thing, but it's a missed opportunity to me because kids are capable of much more. I appreciate the staff for doing all they can. Like all things Wayne, it was professional, but like all things Wayne, it lacked the inspiration that my kind of art requires.

However, the teacher was completely unable to manage the diverse needs of the group. My daughter told me that one child was drinking the clay water, another child had her phone in her mouth the whole time and she child was left ignored and disengaged. Sadly, both her and a friend (who felt the same way) only attended two classes making it a complete waste of money. I spoke with someone who said they would speak with the teacher and call me back but I never received a call. The lack of communication was also terrible. I was so surprised by this after reading such positive reviews.

Someone was always doing groundbreaking and fascinating research, but there was always enough time to explain it in a relaxed way over chocolate chip pancakes. And if that weren't enough, the traditions really did bring the entire campus together, in ways a Yelp review can't do justice to. All the upperclasswomen were astoundingly knowledgeable and supportive, and the friends I made at Bryn Mawr are friends for life. Without question, going to Bryn Mawr was the best possible decision I could have made for myself as a young woman.
