Last night our organization held its annual formal. The venue made it easy for them to get an all in one. They had open space to receive folks coming in. That included a nook that had a photo booth (included). The event allowed for live and DJ proctored music, but for whatever reason the sound for the live portions of the event were not as loud as the DJ that may have been connected to the sound system. It seemed like the sound over the dance floor was plenty loud enough. I like that they have a dedicated parking lot. Our event organizers arranged for security and it felt safe The light effects were pretty good. The mood from the ambient light was sufficient to make it seem intimate, but not so dark that you couldn't find your table or trip over the tables. The caterers, who I'm not sure were part of the venue were lacking. Their team on the ground were nice, but the food was meh. I will leave it at that. There were three different bar areas, the main bar was towards the back and had the longest lines, but if you're a beer guy, they had a separate trough/bar that had shorter lines. I felt Tuscany Hills provided our event organizers their moneys worth. We had a great time.

The table scapes were similar to some high priced weddings I have attended. So now for the food. Well- the snacks on the table were not fresh- they must have been sitting out awhile because the pretzels had gotten soggy sitting in the snack cup with the grapes and cheese. We had to flag someone down to get our water glasses filled. They brought out the salad and it was a typical salad for these types of events, but the wait for the main entree took forever- I mean people went to raid the dessert bar because they were waiting so long. The food was cold by the time we got it and then we had to wait because they neglected to bring enough servings for the table so we politely waited for our comrade to get his food. And then there was no water again. Getting back to the dessert bar- there were no plates or napkins up there- you could only take what you could hold in the palm of your hand- I get it that they wanted to have some control over the amount each person took so there would be enough for everyone, but please- you have women in ball gowns holding Madelines or a cookie in their hands- this was not good. If you want your party to be flawless I highly highly recommend you hire a planner. Someone that will be on top of everything so nothing gets overlooked. During my ceremony the microphone did not work. Maribel informed me she had asked the groom and officiant to check that the mic was working. I don't believe these duties should be assigned to them specially the groom as he is busy with so many other things the day of the wedding. During the reception we ran out of food. We are still trying to figure out how this happened as additional plates were ordered. I did tell Maribel I would've appreciated if someone notified me so I could've apologized to the guests that didn't receive plates. During the dance I had brought in special lights to be passed out. I did tell a couple of workers at least twice that those lights needed to be passed out during the dance. And they were not. Other nuances happened that I tried to communicate and Maribel's response was that as a bride I should've known and that it was poor planning from my behave. Which maybe it was but also this was my first time getting married so there is no way I could've know and I trusted them since they claim to have events every weekend. And also as a client that is not what I expect to hear. Overall, I think the team tries their best but i do feel communication could've been better. Also, please save yourself the trouble and hire a planner to overlook everything because things will be missed. I forgot to mention I came in Thursday to set up the venue, I offered to put the place cards in their place for dinner and I was told by the young girl with the glasses that the table clothes were not ready and that she could do that. We came back the next day (Friday) and half of our place cards were missing. I am not saying they lost them but I did offer to put them up myself when none of them were missing. I trusted them since they said they handle 30-40 booking at a time. Maribel said a couple of things were missing and but never reached out to me to clarify.

We had regular check-ins with him to ensure everything was progressing as planned. He also offered several helpful suggestions for local retailers that were knowledgable and reliable. Once it go to the week of our wedding, Alvaro was also a great deal of help with finalizing some of those last-minute details. The serving staff were also fantastic. Throughout the evening, they made sure all guests had full glasses and were quick to clear tables when necessary. This was something we were not expecting, resulting in it being a very pleasant surprise. Again, my fiancé (now wife) and I could not have been happier with the beautiful setting that the Los Portales venue provided for our special day. There was also a leak right in the middle of the dance floor and it wasn't even raining!! The DJ asked me for all the info which was written on the itinerary to the T days before the event! He even asked for music genre we preferred and what music we didn't want. Well needless to say, it was a waste of time! Music was mediocre! At the time of presentation of court , it was a disgrace! We paid for the margarita/ piña colada machine service, as well as bottle service. I received feedback from our guests that the bartenders were charging for already paid services. The margarita/ piña colada machine broke down with in a few hours our event began. The servers during reception lack costumer service as they were rude to our guests! As if they were serving free food! I truly believed this venue would deliver great service and amazing memories for us but it was disappointing. We were advised upon signing the contract that if not all food was consumed during the hours, they would announce there was food left and we could get seconds. We were not allowed to take the leftover food home. They never announced seconds were available like we were advised. We later learned during the dance that not only did we have to ask for seconds ourselves but it could only have been thru a certain time frame. The cake experience was a disaster. They use fantasy cakes which means that it is a fake cake you pose to take pictures with. The entire cake is not real. They only have a few to choose from. I wanted plain ivory round tiers with real roses. I was to supply the roses. I was fine with that. I had to keep reaching out to follow up to see if this could be done. I was told that it had to be a real cake that the "baker" would do. I was fine with it. I chose cream cheese icing. I have pictures of the before and after. The cake was a mess. The one thing my husband was willing to pay over $10,000 for a hall because of the special meaning and they didn't bother to make it look descent. Thank the lord that my friend and mother-in-law were uphauled and fixed it themselves. I have pictures. My mom paid $500.00 for the candy bar as a gift. She was advised that it was for 2 hours and this is noted in the pamphlet. What is not in the contract or pamphlet is that the entire candy is removed and not given to you at the end of the night. The servers took it all away. If it is paid for then, it should have been given back. There was not $500.00 worth of candy on that table. They never announced guests could start to eat candy or needed to stop eating candy. I was in management for one of the major chocolate manufactures that they had on the candy table for years. I not only know the amount of product in each bag whether it's fun size, full size or bite size but also know the prices. I received complaints from multiple guests regarding how the servers did not let my special needs cousin or my elderly uncle and aunt take a candy because they were going to start putting it away. They had not even started to put it away at that time. It felt like they were there to count the candy going out even though it was my candy that was purchased for $500.00. We feel that if the candy is out on display then the guests should be able to help themselves. To think this is supposed to be a special night and they are supposed to be there to help it go flawlessly. I would not recommend this to anyone.

Had I known, I would have booked somewhere else. She excuses this by saying "I told the DJ, he had too much equipment and he was going to trip the breaker" When I booked she never told me there were any equipment restrictions. This particular DJ has been doing this for 15 years and has never had any problems at other venues. The hall is not set up to have DJ's. If you don't want a DJ you might be okay except that was not the only problem. So as we were getting sporadic music, the lights begin to flicker. Unfortunately that night there was a rain storm. As a consequence my guests begin to feel a mist of water falling from the ceiling. Then water came pouring down from every airconditioning vent. Many of my guests were getting wet and had to find other places to sit. Water begin to come in from all the doorway exits and wetting the floor. some of my guests begin moping up the floor as it was dangerous and slippery. The jumping balloon where the kids were playing was also getting wet from a vent right above it If you walked around behind the jumping balloon you could see the electrical connections to the jumping balloon were also getting saturated with water. Of course, it was turned off eliminating the fun for the kids. I had bought a pastry cart and had been promised coffee availability but both coffee makers were not working because the breaker had been tripped because there was too much electrical currency that could not be accommodated by the circuit breaker. I was embarrassed at having booked such a low class faulty hall. Had I known of course would not have booked this place. When Miriam left she neglected to tell me that Paz Quintana was supposed to stay there. It didn't matter cause he was not there anyway and when he did show up, he couldn't do anything. He was no help. Its too late for me but I am concerned about future DJ and jumping balloon parties there because it cannot handle the electrical needs for that and Miriam did not indicate she was going to cease them until this was fixed. The way it is right now it is a dangerous hazard. I am afraid for the public and embarrassed for myself.
