Nice, historical, spacious venue and being there made it all the better since it was my and my wife's first time in Harlem.

Very unprofessional....would not recommend to anyone having a large party at all.....security was very lax, and youthful. The party next to my room came in with impunity and ate up all my food&drinks. I sent several messages to the host that I was dealing with at the time...Bianca...to no avail, so i had to resort to expressing myself this route. This room cost me $10,000, so for it to be so awfully managed hurts. I asked for some sort of compensation but no one replied back...guess because they already got paid. So if you want a messed up evening, that happens to be very expensive and have any and everyone eat up your food&drinks, then i recommend here, but if not stay the heck away. read more

Im disgusted with the mandatory coat check. Ive been there twice in two months with the long line to give them my coat. They wont let you get into party room unless you check your coat. I wasted about an hour between giving and getting my coat back last night. Im not going back unless i'm coatless. read more

My husband and I had our wedding reception at the Alhambra Ballroom. We used the grand ballroom. James was wonderful in helping to get the room ready for setup as well as helping to decorate. My MC Diane was great of course. She helped keep everything in order and worked well with the DJ. Tracey and Jennifer were great from the 1st time I met them, right up to our wedding day. The waiters, bartendar and rest room attendant were on point. Sam, the cook made some delicious food. Everyone was amazed at how wonderful the inside looked. They were wary at first because of the construction outside. But once inside, they say the ambiance was amazing. Our guests had a great time. And so did we. Forever grateful to you all. We had my son's Bar Mitzvah there yesterday and were just talking this morning about how good the food was - so I figured I would give the venue the props it deserves! The service there was great from planning to finishing up, cleaning. It is family run, and you can feel that closeness/energy. The set up was perfect, the attention to detail amazing, and all the people from the servers, to the clean up crew were kind and helpful. I attended a friend's event in the 5th floor Crystal Room, which was a nice space. Unfortunately, the food was absolutely terrible - 1/2 the green salad was black and rotten, the "lasagna" was disgusting, the green beans were overcooked and mushy, and even the fried chicken was bad. The kids said it all tasted like nasty cafeteria food. The only edible items were the crab cake appetizers, the rolls, and the rice. Some of the staff seemed nice, but most of the servers clearly didn't want to be there and didn't seem to care less when I out pointed out the rotten salad (I guess rotten food is their normal standard?). One of the women serving the food had a bad cough (and attitude) and had to excuse herself at one point due to her coughing fit. As a manager why would you assign a sick person with a cough to handle serving food to people?? read more

My sister Michelle decided she was going to give herself a 50th birthday party and she hit the jackpot of venues with Alhambra. This establishment was a perfect fit. The coordination by the family owned business was exceptional from beginning to end. They are the most inviting,professional and endearing people you will ever want to meet and work with. My parents were celebrating their 50th anniversary celebration in April 2020. This is obviously a monumental celebratory time for my parents but was impacted by COVID. My parents are senior citizens and have been taken advantage of by the CEO, Tracey DeChabert. My mother has made various attempts requesting a refund, as our governor does not know when these venues can function at regular capacity. She would like to utilize the venue and was excited to support a Black operated venue, but as a result of financial hardship and over $2,000 given to the Alhambra Theatre with no date in the future to guarantee its use, my parents' request for a refund have been ignored. Phone calls and text messages have been ignored. This is a horrible way for a local business to treat not only elderly people but community members of any age or gender. How can you steal from people as many of us are negatively impacted by COVID-19? I am disgusted at this person and as a business owner myself, I just cannot see how one can operate in this manner. It is disappointing to say the least. It should not have come to me writing a negative review and taking things to the next level. This still can be avoided if Tracey and/ staff are willing to contact my parents to refund the money and no harm no foul. read more

My school had an event here and considering the area, I really wasn't expecting much. Its on the 6th floor and shares the same building as Harlem Lanes bowling alley. The ballroom itself is a decent size and can probably accommodate 200 people on the lower level. There was a balcony which had more seating but I didn't make my way up there. This place has lovely chandeliers which adds a touch of elegance. I can't say for sure whether the food was supplied by Alhambra or whether it was off-site catering so I did not factor that into my rating. I did take off a few stars because while the place looked fairly decent and the event took place without any issues, it did look a little dated. The paint could have used a fresh coat and there were balloons from previous gatherings stuck at the top of the ceiling. I personally thought that was tacky and that they should be removed. All in all, everyone had a nice time. I would suggest it for simple gatherings like a birthday or bridal shower even, but probably not a wedding. read more

Being a native Harlemite and throughout the years, I've attended quite a few events here. I'm always taken back at the beauty and magnificence of this ballroom. I was there last Friday for a salsa event and everyone spoke of the absolutely gorgeous space and professional staff that tended to our mostly senior salsa community. This is a marriage made in Heaven and the food was really good. Look forward to going again and hoping this becomes our salsa home. Thank you Alhambra for a this beautiful space! read more

The historic Harlem impressed me quite a bit. The bonus were the incredible staff that went above and beyond! I held a day long symposium plus evening reception and it went perfectly. The staff was attentive, the venue is elegant and the food was delicious! My next event must be here!! read more

Mixed about this place. I rented the space out once for a repass and it was great. Good pricing, staff gave us our space. Now i got to get the space again for a baby shower and its triple the amount of what i paid. How is that? They say because they have to cater the event. When asked why i can't cater it myself it's we do not allow that. Confusing if we just had a service and catered it ourselves. read more

I went to a retirement party last week and I was very disappointed. The event was held in the grand ballroom and the AC was broken! It happened during the heat wave on Friday. The service was poor and they weren't even handing out ice water to the thirsty and hot guests. However their fifth floor office felt like a fridge! I have never seen anything like it. If you go there for a summer event I would suggest that you call ahead and ask if the AC is working. It is a shame to pay thousands of dollars and get Central Booking treatment. The Alhambra Ballroom should have given back half of the fee that they charged for the inconvenience and embarrassment! read more

The place is ok n just ok was invited to an event. The workers are not friendly at all. The bartender was phoney. The lady with the jerri curl was beyond nasty for no reason at all. All attitude. No utensils upstairs and when the bartender told the guy in the kitchen he said let them come down n get it themselves. Unbelievable!!! The lady with the jerri curl was the worst like she just hated everybody. Everyone was talking about her. Told the lady at the next table she had to share water n Soda with us because she was too lazy to go downstairs and bring her some. The lady ended up going to the kitchen and telling on her. If only "no" star ratings were possible! The worse customer service ever! NaTesha does not know to talk to customers. She's extremely rude. I had to constantly call after being told I would get a return phone call regarding my questions/inquires. I was told several different prices. My stomach aches thinking about the customer service, NaTesha in particular, provides to potential customers. I remember being on the phone and her being very short. Another customer came into her office and she told me she had to go because she had a customer waiting for her as though I am not customer. Another horrible phone experience was her hanging up the phone on me after phoning her to make sure my request were understood. I would never recommend this place. If you decide to give it a shot - BEWARE and do not work with NaTesha and do NOT be fooled by the pictures of Jay-z & Beyonce on their site. read more

This place is horrible!!! I went there for a awards dinner on 10/25/13 and the service was a mess, the wait staff was very rude, and they did not serve half the food they were suppose to serve for $50. And the so called 3 hour open bar lasted for 1 hour and the drinks tasted like robitussin. So much for the "TOP SHELF LIQUOR". I am not sure if the problem was with the organizers of 504 NorthStar lying about what they were going to serve just so the could sell tickets or if the catering hall was just trying to get over on people with disabilities but this was the worst event I have ever been to and both the organization and the catering hall never have to worry about me or the other people that came with me patronizing them ever again!!!!! read more
