I had to visit Alien Zone right after visiting the UFO museum. Alien Zone was fun but not quite what I thought it would be. It was a little cluttered inside and also kind of old. There is a paid experience to see Area 51 in the back rooms but we didn't tour these because they had other free attractions that you can take photos with the aliens. They have a lot of fun alien's and props that's photo-op worthy and lots of alien novelties and souvenirs. Fun stop all in all. Keep Roswell Weird! read more

This was my favorite experience in Roswell, NM during my road trip. This is a $3 exhibit and you get exactly what you pay for. Do not expect a high class exhibit. Although, the sets are not high quality-the fun factor is a 5/5. You will take so many fun photos. This was the highlight of my visit and would recommend to anyone driving through. Alien Zone is a short walk from the International UFO Museum. I looked forward to photo opportunities here at Alien Zone the most. For $3, you have access to their Area 51. It's in the back and it was different little sets with alien dolls that you can take photos in/with. I had the best time. read more

We came into Roswell expecting more alieness and most of the gift shops was just meh, however this gift shop is special! It might not have cool items like the museum down the street for sale BUT it makes up with decorations! So past with the few shelves of alien merchandise, has displays of aliens to the left. To the right is a play place for young kids and they mean YOUNG kids.No kids over 12 people. Then you go the back of the room that looks like a space cafeteria with a couple aliens hanging out on the booths. These are all good places for a photo shoot. Now for the real reason this places stands out in front of everyone else on the street. They have this cool area called Area 51. It's $3 per person but so worth the price! In the middle of the playground and the cafeteria , there is a door to the right. Now in here they have about 10-15 different areas where you can take pictures at and with aliens! There is an upside down room, a space ship, science lab, Backyard BBQ, an outhouse, inside the space ship, pay phone in the alley, motorcycle, area 51 wall, alien space bar, experimental testing, alien city in black light and more! We spent about 3 hours here and could have done more taking pictures. But this really made the visit to Roswell worth it as everything else was just a big meh. The lady who was running the store was rude. I was standing there waiting to purchase a ticket for 10 minutes before she even acknowledged me. I was extremely disappointed as was another guest that was in there. I would have been extremely upset if I had paid anymore than 3 dollars. The store was depressing, the displays were filthy, dusty, broken down and outdated. The only reason I gave it two stars is because I do believe you can make your own fun which is what I did. I would definitely go in with low expectations. I do think my experience would have been a lot better if the staff would have been more welcoming and not so rude. This shop or front and the area where pics can be taken is just so neglected, I wonder if the staff even go back there, given a little injection of elbow grease and care this place would be great, but when we went, there looked to be signs of rodent activity in the displays and everything was so neglected. For kids? Pah! We're in our late 20s and we had a ball in here! Never mind the gift shop - go to the back and pay a measly few dollars to enter Area 51. If you've come to Roswell for aliens, this is where you want to be for your ultimate cheesy photo opportunities. They have various 'scenes' set up for you to pose in including an alien spaceship, an alien bartender, two aliens having breakfast on the ceiling (turn your camera upside down to take the photo as you sit/lie on the floor and there you have it - you're on the ceiling above them)...don't be embarrassed - GET INVOLVED! Take loads of photos to giggle at after you've left. I don't think a trip to Roswell would be complete without it! read more

For $3 a person, you can take the most ridiculously campy photos ever. That's why you're in Roswell, right? Did you really expect any of this to be serious? If you want serious, go to the UFO museum. If you want campy fun, go to the Alien Zone. There is a gift shop up front - I preferred the souvenirs at the museum, but some of the shirts here are funny. The lady that was working was a sweetheart and I'm sorry to have not gotten her name. Right behind the merchandise is an indoor playground set and then you can walk back into a café area. The café does not seem to be working, but there are some silly aliens back there and it's worth at least a look. The section where you can take pictures with aliens is really the reason to visit, though. There are several different scenes, so get creative! You can take a picture in a UFO or perhaps you'd like to join the BBQ party. I chose to get intoxicated at the alien bar. (Note to future patrons: you can not actually drink here, but you can pretend like I did.) There's also an alien with fully formed genitalia, which makes me wonder - who took the time to craft and mold genitalia on an alien dummy? Someone either likes for things to be very anatomically correct (according to human biology, anyway) or they had way too much time on their hands at work that day. Some of the sections were not well lit due to broken lights, but the lady working did give us a heads up. If you use the flash on your camera, the pictures will still turn out fine. I imagine they will fix the lights in the future, so you might not have this issue on future visits. If you're not the uptight type and you don't mind having a little silly fun and using your imagination, you'll enjoy this place for what it is. The Alien Zone is not holding itself up to some high standard and it doesn't pretend to be anything other than silliness for all ages to enjoy, so don't be a stick in the mud when you come here. Lower your expectations and you'll be pleasantly surprised with how much you can enjoy yourself. read more

The trick to liking this place is keeping your expectations low. Very, very low. In fact, that pretty much applies to Roswell in general. This place was probably the most entertaining of all the alien related shops/exhibits. The gift shop itself isn't that great. There is a better one across the street but the back room with the alien photo ops was kind of cool. You pay three dollars and you get to enter the "alien zone". It's basically a very low budget attraction made up of a few different alien scenes. You can take pictures with an alien in an outhouse, an alien bartender, etc. It is humorous and memorable purely for the fact it is so incredibly cheesy. My buddy and I had a good laugh and snapped a few Facebook worthy pics but we didnt spend longer than ten minutes there. Ten minutes is more than enough to see and appreciate all that Alien Zone has to offer. I don't want to dog on this place too much because someone spent a considerable amount of time setting this up but it is obvious that initial time investment was made a long long time ago. I'm not sure they have done anything to this place since. Nothing in Roswell will justify traveling there but if you are just passing through, take an hour and roam around downtown Roswell. Great areas to take pics and fun stuff! The 1 star is for the twit behind the desk as we came in. I had to greet her first. After she answered my "good morning" she could've then Told us to enjoy our visit, but we needed a pass for the museum if we were interested. THAT would've been GOOD customer service! Instead, we walked into the museum part not realizing we needed a pass. My husband realized it and we were just walking back through the entrance when she came and hurried us out, I apologized as I didn't realize we needed a pass. I actually would've been willing to purchase one. But, instead she said "just trying to keep you honest!" I didn't deserve that insult unknowingly entering the museum. So if you are an Instagram freak or just a photo snapping crazy person, which I am, then this place is the best thing to ever happen to you on a road trip that involved a somewhat disappointing detour to Roswell. While there are no spaceship hotels to sleep in, and no bars serving mars juice, you can take all kinds of crazy photos with aliens here and make people back home super jealous of your crazy adventures in Roswell. The set ups are super old and sad, but serve their purpose. I wish that Roswell citizens would take more pride in their kooky crazy alien fame, and put some love into the themes and take all of our tourist dollars, but maybe they wish that we would all just forget about Roswell and it's likely fake UFO past, and drive on by. In my opinion, it's THE place to visit when you're in Roswell. A whole lot better place than the UFO Museum down the street because you can seriously have a lot of fun and laughs taking pictures with their alien exhibits/displays. There's a free section and there's a paid section that costs $3/person to get in. Having already spend $5 to get into the UFO Museum, we wished we would have visited this place earlier to spend the money here instead. So, we just stuck with the free section to take some pictures and brought some items from here. Another great photo spot in Roswell. Just a quick walk from most of the museums downtown, Alien Zone is a great stop on your alien journey. They had a variety of funny shirts and other souvenirs. We got a couple shirts, a pin and went into the photo area. This area was only a couple dollars to get into and it is a closed off spot where they have some funny set ups to pose and take pictures in. The set up does look like it has been around for a bit, but that does not change how cool and fun it is! Very creative and well done. read more
