Passionfruit green tea with modification: rainbow jelly instead of pineapple jelly. Except that's not rainbow jelly.
    Julie D.

I was craving bubble tea at work today and decided to make the drive out, only to be disappointed. I usually get decent service at this location, but upon my visit today, the only person running the shop had 0 customer service. My friend and I approached with a hi, but nothing in return. We placed our orders, except I made a modification to my passionfruit green tea to have rainbow jelly instead of pineapple jelly. No response from the person taking my order. When I got my drink, I had some different looking jelly. I couldn't figure out if it was honey jelly, or whatever else because the person working there said not even a word to us!!! While I couldve asked for my drink to be re-made, I thought...what's the point?

    Snow velvet peach hojicha

The Alley is, in my opinion, one of the best bubble tea (bbtea) chains in Toronto. If you've never tried, highly suggest you do as it should be the benchmark for really good bbtea. On this order we got the alley trio milk tea. The black tea is flavorful and the toppings are perfect. The pineapple jelly adds sweetness and fruit ness with some firm texture. Rainbow jelly gives the drink some nice colour and topping. Tapioca had a good chew and decent flavor without overpowering the tea. Really well balanced and delicious. Snow velvet peach hojicha - this one was also really good though I felt it was a bit too sweet so I may need to drop the sugar even lower from less sugar. Never the less, has a nice peach sweetness against the hojicha flavor. Wasn't bitter at all which was awesome. Price: The price point at the Alley is easily 50 cents to 1$ more than most other chains but in exchange, you're getting really great bbtea that I think is higher quality. I should mention, I've been to several Alleys and have found them all to be pretty consistent in quality and flavor.

Environment: if they have one in my hometown, it really has the vibe to it. Anyways, very fancy and lots of Insta-worthy places for photos. Staff: they weren't busy but they were okay. I mean, in a nice way of saying it, they looked tired. Drink: last time I went, which was a year ago, I ordered 50% sweet but it was super sweet. This time, I ordered their Alley Trio Milk Tea with 30% sweet. 1st: I thought it was 3 kinds of tea leaves together but realized it was 3 kinds of toppings. 2nd: I don't like toppings but the flavorless jelly and tapioca were good...the fruity one, got all the attention and was out of place. 3rd: the milk tea was perfect. The sweetness was perfect. It was very smooth. I personally thought $6 something for the drink was expensive (I mean...I usually see them in the $4-5 range. But I realized the regular size is a lot. I wish they had small because I shared it and my dad and I poured it into 2 cups and each had a perfect amount of milk tea. So, regular = 2 people I would come back and get milk tea with 30% sweet and no toppings next time. I didn't know it came with toppings...either I missed that on the menu or it wasn't mentioned underneath the name of each drink.

    Kiwi Slush

I'm a huge fan of bubble tea, especially the mango ones, so was a little disappointed that they had no mango drinks at all. Instead I opted for the kiwi slush. It tasted pretty good and came with tapioca, but the main thing that threw me off was that the kiwi seeds were in the drink..... Kind of a game changer.. It was weird to take a sip of the kiwi slush and tapioca and have random seeds that you had to chew through. Side note though, staff are amazing!! My wallet fell out of my pocket and I realized an hour later. Called them to see if I left it there and they had it waiting for me behind the counter! Saved me from a whole lot of calls to cancel all my cards so thanks for that!!! You guys are amazing!!

Location/Service Along Warden Ave, a little north of the T&T plaza. Plenty of parking available and there's underground as well. Interior is consistent across their other locations, love their choice of lightning and the use of fake trees. Really nice vibe and romantic. There's also more seats compared to other locations, perfect for chatting and catchups. Staff were nice, but orders sometime takes a while Drinks Went here recently for their summer series. Had the chance to try both the grapefruit and pineapple series. Both fruit had actual fruits pieces which were slightly caramelized. It's infused with I believe oolong tea, with an actual tea bag provided as well. Adding a little bit of slush and ice made the drink extra refreshing, perfect for the summer season Overall I am quite impressed with The Alley, their drinks are consistent across differ locations and it has a very nice presentation. Play around with the sweetness level and you are hooked!

I love this little nook! It's definitely a cute place for small groups but also def a cute date place :) I love the interior design because it's spacious and just cute. I love the tree in the middle! I sat there today with someone and it was a nice atmosphere. Thanks for the WiFi password on the board too! But yea this tree in the middle was adorable and romantic without being cheesy. The couch area looks comfy too but wow is that ever a popular place! I had the brown sugar ginger roasted milk tea and it was beautiful. Spicy but just a little kick. I'd have preferred half sweet but I think I need that sugar to mask the ginger spice. Overall, I'd love to come back again. I love the mood here. I'd like there to be a tree coat hook so we can hang our stuff there! It'd be cute to put it by the bar area where the trash can is. :)

Good place to grab a drink with seating area to catch up with friends. I find their drinks to be pricier than your staples (chatime and coco). Overall, I like their bbt and I would come back (and I do go back often).

I was in the Markham area looking for bubble tea fix with my friend. We were debating whether to go to Chatime or the Alley, but since I had Chatime near me, we decided to go to the Alley. I'm an Amex cardholder and there's currently a Shop Small promotion running from late June until September where a cardholder gets $5 back in statement credit when they spend a minimum of $10 at participating businesses. The Alley on Warden and Gibson is one of the businesses as per the Amex website. However when I wanted to make a payment with Amex, I was declined and told they do not accept Amex with a sticker on their POS terminal saying "No Amex". That was disappointing, but we went ahead with our orders anyways. I usually go for the Royal No.9 milk tea. Those who know me knows it's my go to drink and I highly recommended that. However, we saw a new drink on the menu, the Snow Velvet Watermelon Lulu, it's a seasonal watermelon cheese foam drink that comes in a cute reusable cup so we decided to try something new. It was a nice and refreshing drink that surprisingly went really well together with the cheese foam. Aside from the Amex situation, this experience and drinks at this location is great. It's tucked away in the corner and the traffic in the evening was definitely much lower. They have their seats and tables tucked away so we felt safe staying inside waiting for our drinks where other people come in to make their orders.

I've never been to the other locations so this location is my first The Alley experience. We ordered Deerioca and royal no9 (no sugar). To be honest when they told us we can't choose the sugar level for the Deerioca I got really worried (I dislike super sweet drinks), but turns out it wasn't overly sweet at all!! I was pleasantly surprised and felt slightly less guilty drinking it. I also was given a sample of the earl grey milk tea when I was there, definitely something I will get on my next trip. I love the decor here, it's very different than other bubble tea shops. The staff was also very nice and patient with me when I wasn't sure what to order the first time. The only thing I didn't love was how difficult it was to find parking in that tiny parking lot.

    Margaret S.

Honestly, this is the best place for bubble tea in my opinion! They followed through with what I wanted and I can't complain! Also can I just say that their decor is so asthmatic like and rustic, they have different deer everywhere it's so cute!! If anyone likes bubble tea, go to The Alley Warden!

Iron Goddess milk tea $5.5, passion fruit green tea $6, garden milk tea $5.5, morning dawn $8.
    Jacqueline L.

I was looking forward to try their garden milk tea. But I didn't get my "plant" in mine. I was so disappointed I only got the "dirt". :( I asked the girl where is my "plant" and she said she didn't know, it never come with one. (Seriously? Please don't lie to me, your display said so. I rather you told me you run out of the leaves) Morning dawn consisted of mango and dawn blue flower (a kind of rose) with ice in a 500ml cap bottle. Passion fruit green tea came with tapioca and pineapple jelly. Would be better if the passion fruit seeds were strained. The girl who took my order was very helpful. Patiently explained and gave us suggestions. Would give 4 stars if I got my "plant" in my milk tea.

I want to give an awesome review for The Alley since the other location (on Midland and Finch) I went to was just AMAZING; however, I was somewhat disappointed with my visit in this location. So overall, 2.5 stars but I'm rounding up because I'm hoping my experience was just a one time thing. I came here for a weekday afternoon meeting with a friend. At first, I thought having a meeting at a bubble tea shop may be difficult as it is usually crowded and super busy. But on a mid-day, this place is pretty chills with plenty of seating options. I was the only customer in the shop as I got here before my friend did so I ordered a brown sugar ginger milk black tea with tapioca. I was a bit bummed that you couldn't adjust the sugar level for this drink but I'm not going to complain and just ordered it as is. Even though I was the only customer, it took me about 5 minutes to get my drink. The worker making it seemed confused as to how to make the drink. Maybe she needed more training?! Anyways, I was handed my drink and I had to ask for a sleeve, you know, the super cute deer antler sleeve. It took two workers to figure out how to assemble the sleeve. Overall, I was somewhat disappointed by the service I received, the length it took for me to get my drink, and just when you think things couldn't get any worse, it did... My friend finally made it and he ordered a hot drink as well. We waited about 15 minutes for his drink but when we heard the worker calling others who ordered drinks after him, we became confused with their system. My friend went up to ask the worker about his drink and as it turns out, they completely forgot about it. We waited another 4 minutes for them to hand my friend a hot drink WITHOUT a sleeve. So service-wise it was meeeeh... On the bright side, I did enjoy my drink. I loved the tapioca texture, it was just a perfect balance of chewy and soft. I also loved that the tapioca was properly flavoured and not tasteless. The sweetness of my drink was a tad on being too sweet but since my drink had ginger in it, the overall sweetness sort of balanced out. I kind of wished my hot drink was a bit more hot but I guess since I'm poking a plastic straw in it, if it were too hot, the straw may melt?! Also, I love the décor in this location, super quaint and hipster-like. Since I came on a mid-day and there weren't many people around, I would say this place would be a nice spot if you wanted to spend a couple hours studying--it does offer free WiFi! All in all, would I return to The Alley? Most definitely! But not likely to this location if this is the kind of service that I will be getting from here.

    Deerioca with fresh milk
    Chusa N.

Prices are a bit on the higher side for their deerioca series considering the size, but I'd say it's worth it. The deerioca fever is pretty simple - cold milk over warm, syrupy tapioca. The tapioca itself has a very soft chew, and a strong brown sugar taste which goes well with the fresh milk. The deerioca puff is essentially the same thing, but with an added layer of custard which takes the drink from lighter and refreshing to rich and creamy. Honestly, the combination was a bit too sweet for my liking. I also tried the classic milk tea with tapioca. After trying the deerioca first though, the classic was a let down. The milk tea wasn't memorable, and even though the texture of the tapioca pearls was similar, I missed the brown sugar flavour.

Tip: The sparkling fruit drinks are amazing…read more Last month, after work, I drove directly from my workplace to CF Markville for dinner. I was craving my usual from Bourbon St. Grill and hit the food court. While heading downstairs after walking through mall entrance 3, I saw this Chicha San Chen store. I flagged it for a visit. After having a satisfying, casual meal at the food court, I returned to the second floor and walked over here to check out the drinks. It was almost as if this store knew that I like fruit and sparkling drinks. I saw a sign that said I could get two sparkling fruit drinks for $10. Three words: Sign me up! I got Kinson at the ordering area. He was great stepping me through everything. I let him know that this promotion interested me. He asked if I wanted one of each fruit flavour. Yes! My order consisted of the following: - Sparkling orange - Sparkling peach Each drink contains fruit, sparkling water, and konjac. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and I was done. He let me know that it wouldn't take long for my drinks to be made. The wait time wasn't much. The seating area had just cleared, so I could take photos of the branded throw pillows, various decorated bear figures holding tea cups in slings, and a wall celebrating a hundred years of tea love. It's my kind of tea joint. I stood next to looseleaf teas in mini containers. I smelled a number of them as I waited. They were so fragrant that I didn't want to leave! I love smelling these teas: - Cassia black - Dong ding oolong - Green - Black - Osmanthus oolong - High mountain pouchong My drinks came in one size. It seemed to be the case for all drinks on the menu. I like that you can customize your drink. There's a menu that steps you through it, from the type of tea that you want brewed, to the flavours and toppings that you want in it. If you find this method to be too complicated, it does have popular teas that are already configured, so you don't have to. I liked that I didn't have to fuss with my order. It was exactly what I wanted. My receipt had a number on it. Their system has an automated voice that calls out your order number. it was a nice change of pace. I could clearly hear my order number called out. I'm sure staff were happy to save their vocal cords, too. My drinks were on the counter. You can help yourself to a tray, which I did. My drinks looked good. What I should have done was sipped both before walking to my car. This place was so generous with the pour that my drinks were topped to the brim. One of my drinks did spill out a bit as I was about to go through the doors. Oops. I stopped to sip both of them. I was good! I got to my car and safely put my drinks down in my caddy. Just from sipping them, I loved the flavours so much. The orange one had slices of orange and chewy konjac. It was slightly sweet and fizzy. It was cheerful to drink. I had the orange slices, minus the peel, of course. Yum! The peach drink was equally as awesome. It was bubbly, with generous chunks of peach and konjac. It was fruity and chewy. So good! Both were so refreshing on a hot July evening. I'm glad that I got two drinks. I enjoyed my first two drinks from this tea place. I'll be back for more! (301)

You must use the kiosk. - This place is on Fantuan, but doesn't offer the full drink menu that you see in the store. - Most drinks are regular in size. Only a handful are large. Last Monday, after work, I was in downtown Markham. I was driving up Birchmount Avenue, just before Highway 7. I pulled into a parking spot on the street. It was my first time parking here. I thought that I'd check out the businesses and remembered Machi Machi. You can also park in the plaza. Machi Machi is across from Panera Bread. There's lot of parking. It was the last bubble tea store in downtown Markham that I had yet to visit. It was time. The store has a couple of steps to get to the door that faces Birchmount Avenue. It also has a ramp. I took the steps going in. There is no hand rail. I left using the ramp, which seemed spacious enough for a wheelchair. I entered the store. There were two folks ahead of me at the kiosk to place orders. No one was behind the counter taking orders, so your kiosk is your best bet. There was a group of four folks waiting for their orders next to us. I also saw seating off to the right and left. They are limited. You get three seats on either side of the order area. I was order number 29 with these items: - Fizzy plum green tea (fixed sugar and ice) - Coconut lime strawberry smoothie (light sugar and fixed ice) Both were regular in size. There are few drinks that are large. Customizations aren't as flexible as other bubble tea places. They are my reasons why this place doesn't get a five-star review. It was such a nice day outside that due to demand for cold drinks here, it took long to get my drinks. The woman in front of me decided to go outside. It was weird to me. If I had a drink waiting for me and I'm a party of one, I'd be inside the store, waiting for my number to be called. Sure enough, order number 28 was called. I said that I was number 29 when the woman looked at me. I was standing by the glass window. It's all glass, which was nice seeing the sunshine come in, but it also heated up the place. I lightly tapped on the glass. Number 28 heard me. I pointed to her to come inside. She did. This woman was extremely introverted. She got to the counter and didn't say a thing. I went around and got the attention of a nice female staffer. I said that 28 was here. She nodded and got 28's drink. 28 was happy. Both thanked me. It was my good deed of the day. My order was ready. My good deed helped. The female staffer asked if I wanted a bag. I said yes. I got it for free. I thanked her and left with my bag of drinks and straws. I immediately had the fizzy plum green tea. I love fizzy drinks. This one was awesome. The plum flavour was excellent with the green tea. It was refreshing, fizzy, and perfect. I drank it as I drove to fetch some takeout before heading home. I had the coconut lime strawberry smoothie after dinner. It tasted tropical and delicious. The flavours were so good. Excellent! I'd get both drinks again. I'd also love to try more items on the menu. I had a wonderful first experience here. (166)

We went around 10, so they weren't closing anytime soon either. She was nice though. Depends on the nights at the plaza, weekdays is okay but weekends are always chaotic. I like getting their signature milk tea as well.

Last Tuesday, after a lovely lunch at Sushi Gin, I felt like bubble tea. Commerce Gate has a lot of…read morebubble tea joints to try. I have never been to any of them. I typically hit Kinton Ramen in this plaza, fetch food, and leave. It was nice to have already parked for two hours. I got here at noon. There were plenty of spots available. After doing a quick look at the bubble tea places to choose from, I chose TP Tea. There's one closer to my home, across the border (it sounds fancy) in Scarborough. I needed to check out a different location. TP stands for Taiwan Professional. I still think of my former intern who disliked a software tester at our workplace who creeped her out. She nicknamed him TP, which stood for Toilet Paper.... haha! Anyway, I digress. I walked in and there were two staff members. A young man came over to help me with my order. The Thai milk tea looked so good in the poster on the door that I went with it. I couldn't get it without any sugar, so my order became less sugar and ice. I also got tea jelly. I had never heard of tea jelly before. Tea jelly in tea? Hey, why not? I paid with a credit card. I tipped and tapped. I also signed up for TP Tea's points program. You simply enter your phone number and sign in through the touchpad each visit. You can get free toppings, free drinks, and more. It didn't take long for my order to be ready. This store is deep and narrow. You can't sit down and enjoy your drink. You also can't use the washrooms. The woman behind the counter asked if I needed a bag. I politely declined and said that I was going to drink it now, which made her laugh and nod. I wished both folks a great day and headed to my car. The Thai milk tea ws excellent. If you like strong tea, you want to come here. The milk was perfect to balance out the tea. I loved the tea jelly, which added a cool flavour dimension to my tastebuds that I have never experienced. It was awesome and I got a decent amount of it! Less sugar worked out nicely. My drink was a touch sweet. Perfect! I had a great experience. I hope to return to this plaza and get more drinks off the menu. (463)
