I love the new location at 260 McCutchen Street which is on the Ellijay River across from Harrison Park. I had my first Organic Acai Bowl and it will not be my last! Organic Acai Sorbet topped with chia seeds, toasted coconut, strawberries, blueberries, and nut granola. I was given some additional toppings to try in sample cups. Indulgent and Delicious!! The "Cafe" is now a "Shop" which has evolved to a self serve station with grab & go snacks, beverages, frozen smoothies and meal kits. I'm looking forward to trying the savory pies: Steak & Gravy; Veggie Curry; Steak & Mushroom; & Lamb Curry to name a few. Now that The Appalachia Cafe is open on weekends, it will be my lunch stop when I am in East Ellijay. My choice from the many items on the menu yesterday as the Grilled Chicken and Brie Panini made on ciabatta bread with sliced tomato and lettuce. Wow! Finally, a real first class restaurant here in Ellijay. Sure, it's just paninis, salads, and power bowls, but it's done to perfection. The prices are fair as well. Tip: As an app, try the tandoori chicken (the owners are from India) side, as it's really good and it's served with a cilantro chutney that's better than I've ever had anywhere. There are also some really interesting snacks (mushroom jerky, popped lotus seeds) and other goodies for sale in the cafe's boutique. My wife and I were invited to go with our friends John and Pam. They kept talking about the cauliflower crust on the pizza which I thought sounded disgusting.... So I ordered a chicken bacon wrap and it was excellent. My wife got a steak bowl that she liked very much. John and Pam ordered the Margherita pizza with cauliflower crust and I was amazed how good it was..... Does not taste like cauliflower at all !!!! The service was slow but then again if we wanted fast food we would have went to McDonald's or Chick-fil-A. So, this place is fantastic! The menu is full of great options regardless of dietary restrictions, and the food is quite good. There is some smooth jazz playing, but it's not loud. That other person must have just had their hearing aids turned up too high, or just realllllllllly not liked smooth jazz (which wasn't much more than ambient wallpaper music/sound). This place is nice and the food was really good. I had 3 problems that hopefully will be fixed soon. First, I had the power bowl. It was really tasty but it didn't come in a bowl, just a plate. Second, my wife ordered a flatbread pizza which didn't come out until I was done with my "bowl". Third, getting a drink refill and my check took forever. This meant the smoothies we were going to order to go didn't happen. I hope the issues get fixed or they won't be in business long. Long wait times were seen by others, too. We were there 2 days ago, waitress was solo, and had a family in front of us, waitress handled the stress well, the potatoes were NOT raw, they were made fresh, the meal was delicious and we understand the wait because waitress explained to us someone called in which happens, she was very nice and handled everything well, the adults next to us we felt were disrespectful to others around them, we enjoyed the waitress and this location nonetheless, and food was organic and fresh! read more

If you are looking for a greasy-thrown together meal then turn around. This isn't the place for you. This is real food. I've seen reviews on here from individuals stating the service speed was "slow". So let me explain this scenario. In order for food to be prepared with passion and taste, it requires time and patience and the food here surely idolizes that. The food price is appropriate for the quality and the presentation. You can pay for health now or pay for health bills later. The music volume was appropriate and did not hinder the experience. I received my food in the appropriate bowls and plates, respectively. DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOURE IN A RUSH. My family and I came here while we were on vacation. When we walked in there were only two other tables taken and we were seated quickly but it took exactly an hour before our food came out. I understand that a group of 5 is fairly big but 4 of us ordered identical dishes (the Super Grain Power Bowl). I never make any serious complaints when I go out and eat but this was abysmal. My parents my wife and I showed up and there were only two tables that had customer's at the time. We were seated quickly but it took the owner/cook/waitress almost 30 minutes to get us some water. She apologized that one cook left early because they were sick. I don't think there was another cook in the back because the service was slower than a snail's pace. My BBQ chicken salad came out 15 minutes before the other three dishes staggered out one after the next. Not all at the same time like they should have. And I thought I was getting a nice "healthy" salad from what I read on the menu. No it was a cheap Sysco looking salad that came out of a can. My wife's Philly cheese steak sandwich was extremely salty, my mom's avocado panini was missing it's cheese, and my dad's chicken brie panini was missing half it's chicken. Oh and the "waitress" dropped one plate so it took even longer for everything to be served. It took 70 minutes before we got all our food from when it was ordered.
