Plate number 2 or 3!? Tuna and salmon. Not too shabby!
    Laura S.

I was a little confused at first... when we walked in it looked just like a hotel complimentary breakfast. Our server was sweet ... a little slow but sweet and we weren't in a rush. There is a menu to order off but we decided to try the buffet and whew, it was delicious!! The lady and gentleman manning the buffet were super nice and patient with my kids picking what they want as they prepared the plate and omelette! Would def. come back! Everything tasted amazing and the kids loved watching the golfers in between trips to the buffet. You will want to call to make reservations since this is in a gated community and you will give your name upon entry. Photos don't even cover half of what they offer on the buffet! Kids had bacon, eggs, doughnuts and baked French toast. I had a freshly made omelette in addition to what you see here. There is something for EVERYONE.

Not allowed to go the tavern unless you live in bent tree. Food is over priced for what you get

The bathroom is clean and has a changing table. When we walked in, we were greeted by a really nice young woman who made great recommendations for food and drinks. She was so incredibly cordial! I ordered a no foam chai latte and maple coffee cake. My husband got a hot Americano and maple bacon oatmeal. My chai tasted wonderful and the temp was good. However the cup was light. It was 1/3 full with foam. I brought it back to the barista and asked her if she could remove the foam. She joyfully scraped it off but then I had a cup that was 2/3 full. I expected her to top it off with hot milk but she didn't offer and pushed the cup toward me. I'll say that Starbucks started charging for no foam and I don't mind. I'd rather pay a $0.25 to have a cup full than not. The food was luke warm. The maple coffee cake was delicious. We ended up splitting it because the oatmeal was overtaken by bacon that he couldn't really taste the maple. It was a great idea in theory, Will we be back? Yes, because it's locally owned and a small business. It's conveniently located next to our dog groomer. Jax is not my first go to though. There are two other small business coffee shops in Jasper that are just as good if not better when it comes to quality.

Then comes the friendly, engaging, knowledgeable and enthusiastic barista. What a delightful experience with her. She recommended her favorite. An iced Matcha Latte with milk and honey. That and a (brand new to the menu) home made pumpkin coffee cake with a maple glaze really hit the spot and made for an enjoyable and tasty experience. How do I know it's brand new you ask? Because the owner came out and actually asked for feed back on it. A nice selection of tasty bakery products, coffees, teas, hot or cold and some very cool store merchandise puts JAX Coffee Company at the top of my list for an awesome Java house.

Our server, Dixie, was so kind and couldn't have made me feel more special. They treat you like family here in this lovely little cafe. I had my usual 3 egg omelette, with ham, spinach, onions, and jalapeños. It is always Amazing, but be forewarned that when you request jalapeños, you get a ton of them! So good and spicy, it's really well-prepared and delicious! My husband had the chicken salad on a toasted croissant and he loved it as well. He's very picky about chicken and he loves the salad here at Carriage House. This is a really special spot in Jasper. They serve breakfast as well as lunch so be sure to give them a try. Finding the small door into the place can be tricky, so be sure to have the address and be patient looking for it. It's well worth your trouble!

The restaurant is cozy with multiple tables and a couple of bar stools (although I've never seen anyone sit at them). The servers are pleasant and refill coffee regularly. The French toast comes with a side. One that's not listed in the "sides" is 2 eggs cooked to order. I ordered them overmedium and they were PERFECTLY cooked. That's an art, my friends! $12 for 3 pancakes and potatoes is ridiculous though- especially with fake maple syrup. The muffins are huge for $4 and they are freshly baked. You can't go wrong with those! We'll definitely be back.
