The reviews for them looked good so after a brief phone conversation with Steve, I decided to go forward with them to appraise the property. Steve showed up exactly on time and explained exactly what he would be doing in detail. Now, I don't have any experience getting an appraisal done, so this was all new to me but Steve went over everything in detail, taking pictures of all the rooms, measuring exact dimentions of the house, etc. Steve was very professional & courteous. He explained everything to me in a way I could understand easily which was really appreciated. The good: I was able to make an appointment with Paul within two weeks of calling. He showed up…read moreearly and got started right away. Unfortunately, he did not get my proposal to me on time. I had to request it a couple of times and finally received it over 3-weeks later. The bad: His appraisal came in really low. The house is in great shape, remodeled and received two comps from two separate Realtors that were shocked by his proposal. He was way off and I'd be a fool if I used his numbers. The house could have been cleaner at the time; but we were in the middle of packing. Still a trained eye should be able to overlook it; especially when he is supposed to look at sq footage, upgrades, the area and comparable sales. It felt like a stab in the dark with his number. I made the request that he re-evaluate and consider raising his appraisal to at least the mid-upper range from the eight market comparisons provided within the 3/4-mile radius. On two separate occasions he said he just got back in and would get back to me. He never did and I finally gave up on this guy. This appraisal was a waste of time and money and would go elsewhere for your appraisal needs.
