My check up call with her (I'm across the country) was awful, she couldn't sleep all night because of a loud alarm sound (I did hear this over the phone as well, I loud screeching alarm). I couldn't believe they would have that noise all throughout the night =(. She also told me that they were very inattentive, when my mom asked for her meds it took 2.5 hours. The blanket she got was also apparently wet and when she asked for it to be changed the staff said that it was fine and didn't change it. The garbage wasn't thrown out for 3 days.... I see that this place is actually a nursing home... please don't send them here. I care enough to add this business onto Yelp so others hopefully will see it. If your doctor recommends this place to you or your loved one please ask them to change it. In a time of recovery after a major surgery I wanted my mom to have the best of care, this place couldn't even provide the environment for a decent night's sleep.

They kept up charging the residents for anything they could think of-- which I saw was coming my way soon, raised the rent on the other residents while he was there, and were constantly calling me to take care of issues even in the middle of the night (um, isn't that why I'm paying you an obscene amount of money?) My father hated it. I hated him being there. I pulled him out after seven days. It costs me less to pay for home care to come in and take care of him. For me and my father, home care works out great, the people are very caring and personable. My recommendation: keep your loved one at home where the people care more about the person than their wallet.

Their nurses, social worker and chaplain visited regularly, keeping close communication with her memory care facility staff, home care agency and especially with my family, patiently answering our many questions. Our input on Mom's care was respected, and when the time came for a move to the Ruth McClain Hospice House, we knew we were in good hands. The people who work there are highly trained and very personable. They love their work, and supported my mother with astute attention to her needs, as well as helping my siblings and I through a difficult time. We were so impressed with the superior quality of Mom's end-of-life care.

But at the end my husband wanted to die at home and Old Colony Hospice made that possible. For over 2 weeks the nurses and aides would come on a daily basis. And all looked after my husband with such care and understanding. They were sensitive to our wishes even if they seemed counter intuitive and they were at the end of a phone at 3:0am or in person at midnight if we needed them. And in the final hours, which even if they had experienced many times, they treated us like family and had words of comfort that made a huge difference. I couldn't recommend them more.

I'm sure if that person's parent was living here they would not appreciate strangers being let into the building at 1 am. The bad review(s) about this facility should not be considered if you are looking for a place for a loved one. Visit them - you will see how amazing they are.
