I went here for a holiday and the service was AMAZING! Even though it gets a little on the pricey side, the food makes up for that cost. The ambiance was great too. This was 7 months before this review, so I don't know if anything changed. Will be going on my 14th birthday though! read more

I'm pretty much a regular here and for good reason. The Argyle Street Grill is consistent with the quality of their food. The restaurant has been featured on The Food Network's "You Gotta Eat Here." I love everything on their menu but I especially love the fact that they try to use as much local food as possible. My favourite things to get are definitely the fish and chips, house salad with chicken, and the prime rib when it's on special. Another cool thing is that you will often see the owner in the dining room, walking around greeting customers and even waiting tables when it's busy. He's so nice and friendly and gives the place that personal touch that's truly charming. The only suggestion I would make would be that the waitresses could do a better job on refills for drinks. read more

Worst place to eat. Vaccine was checked and hostess could not see birth date. She had the audacity to physically reach and take my phone from me and proceeded to zoom in. I was shocked someone would touch personal property like that without even asking. Every plate that was used for the food was badly chipped. Ordered Caesar salad instead of fries. Lettuce was brown and wilted. I send it back. They did not comp it. Stay away! Very bad experience and service. Blah! Blah! read more

Wouldn't ever visit this restaurant again! First impression was that this place is very pretentious, you're in a strip mall in Caledonia not Wolfgang Pucks, get over yourself! With the amount of work on the decor (except for the ceiling, might want to work on those water stains and missing ceiling tiles) I would imagine your food would be something to brag about and not on the level of McDonalds, I am talking early 90's McDonalds where the food sat under the heat lamps for 4 hours. We had the Reuben Sandwich and the Boneless Chicken Wings. Not sure why you guys felt the need to burn the shit out of one side of the Reuben while not toasting the other side but I would imaging the same guy who was in charge of that was the same guy who hired the wait staff that all but ignores you. (FYI, no need to toast the Rye bread in a Reuben, they have been making it without toasting them for years and they weren't shit..yet yours was..go figure!) The "Boneless Chicken Wings"..yes I put quotes around that..I would prefer you not chew my food before I get it, thank you. It looks like you ripped the shit out of some wings, over cooked/burned the fuck out of half of it, threw some sauce on it and put it on a plate. If you are going to treat food like that you might as well get into the dog food business because that's what it felt like I was eating. Finally I decided to give you guys one last chance and ordered dessert, I am a big dessert fan and generally feel like any good restaurant can't screw that up if they stick to the basics. From the looks of your menu you totally tried to stick the basics so I ordered your Chocolate Lava Cake. Presentation was great, you guys know your way around a chocolate fudge squirt bottle!...but that was about it. Have you ever had one of those shitty Swanson Hungry Man dinners?...ever get excited about that shit brownie they put in them?..yes?...well this is the cake for you then! Absolute shit, thank god your careless wait staff forgot to put it on my bill because I wouldn't have paid .50 for that. Needless to say, these 4 and 5 star reviews are crazy! This place is shit and I will never return. I am sure you're asking yourself why didn't you bring any of this to our attention?? I make the drive from cambridge to caledonia as often as I can for dinner.. Love, love, love this place.. I have been for regular dinners and I also did the lobster dinner that they have twice a year I believe.. Food is fantastic, great service and really nice atmosphere... Date of visit: Dec 28 2013 - 1pm. Soup of the Day: Clam Chowder - 3 / 5 - too watery, not a real chowder, sparse seafood but tasty. Chicken Wings - 4 / 5 good size wings, good medium sauce Bacon Wrapped Scallops - 5 / 5 perfectly cooked. Best scallops I have ever had. Pulled Chicken Flatbread - 3 / 5 not enough flavour. Lots of stuff on it but missing something which would pull it all together. Added parmesan cheese helped. Maybe roasted garlic would help. read more

Really pleased to this place bounce back after covid. The staff before it seemed focused on themselves and not on the customers making the whole environment seem very unwelcoming as though they'd rather not be serving us. We decided to try it again despite the rude treatment we'd had over and over again. There's a new group in there with a positive attitude and it was like when they first opened as the grill. Excellent diner for four adults. Lobster and crab dip appetizer was thick, creamy, hot and substantial. Maple BBQ Ribs and a loaded baked potato, Scallop and Shrimp Diablo (spicy, spicy), Ten Veggie Stir fry with Rice noodles and Bacon Wrapped Bison Meatloaf were all thoroughly enjoyed with no survivors. Came into the restaurant with a big group about 12 instead trying to accommodate they basically said sorry we can't help you I guess if you are from out of town you are not high priority. THE CALLABRIA CAFE is just down the street and much better don't waste your time. read more

Food was very good! I had the Salmon quinoa salad and it was excellent, and plated very nicely too. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. The prices were a bit higher than I was expecting and service was a little slow but it was Saturday night and the restaurant was quite full. Overall, I would definitely come back! read more

The food was delicious and the server was one of the most attentive, professional and kind server I've had! I wish I asked her name. She is very pregnant, slim with long dark hair. She knew the menu inside out, was consistently warm and gracious and took our feedback seriously. Of course the feedback about food was was mostly positive with one small critique (the veggies were a bit under done) We sat on the patio and enjoyed the live music. We love that some of the food is locally sourced. I had the Portobello chicken and it was perfectly cooked, plated well and was a generous portion. We are from Toronto and came to the area for a getaway and would return again to your restaurant. Randomly in Caledonia for a wedding and noticed the check in special for 10% off... waitstaff is super friendly. I had the bison burger and my baby mama had chicken asiago linguini... pitchers were reasonably priced and my bison burger was very meaty.... baby mama's chicken asiago had a tasty and creamy consistency. The only down side was the word Search on the children's menu... two drunk guys were able to complete it in under 5 minutes while looking at it upside down... far too juvenile. read more

After a good lunch experience here (service and food) with a business associate I decided to return for dinner with my husband and another couple at a later date. None of us were dressed up-we had all just finished work in an auto shop, but my theory is-my money spends the same! We were seated, ignored for a while, then got our menus and ordered drinks. No one returned to take our order and we had waited so long our drinks were finished. My husband flagged down a male server (our original one was female) and he told us we were cut off by our server. Really. One drink. No one at our table was obnoxious or loud, we had not gotten in any sort of altercation nor had we been abusive to our server. No one had spilled a drink or fallen off their chair, and to boot we had a DD. I bartended for years so I do know how to spot people who are drunk or a potential problem. Ridiculous. I would have just left but everyone else was hungry so we ordered. To be honest the treatment left such a bad taste in my mouth I didn't really care how the food was. Blue collar people like a nice meal out too. Oh and we tip well, when treated well... It was a huge contrast to my original lunch there-I was more worried about appearances then as my business associate was covered in tats, had chrome beads in his moustache and generally draws looks wherever he goes. We looked like a pair of scruffy bikers, but we were treated warmly and well. On the basis of my dinner experience will not return. read more

After my experience I felt the need to write my first ever review. We ate supper at your restaurant on Friday evening. I ordered the calamari as an appetizer and was disappointed to receive a processed version, the price did not correlate with the quality. I also ordered the Spicy Chili Garlic Halibut. The fish was overcooked. Our waitress was not to be found. Which left us with no refills of water or purchasing a second drink. I enjoyed the relaxed yet formal atmosphere. Visually the restaurant was appealing. Definitely not worth the 40 minute drive. read more

Would highly recommend....been there TWICE in the past 10 days. First time just popped in .. curious. Had the Prime Rib Special....excellent. One of the best prime ribs dinners I have had, and I HAVE had a lot of them!!! The crusty outside was to die for!! Hubby had Bison Meatloaf and he raved about it. My salad was excellent. Fresh greens..lovely coated pecans. Second visit: took my daughter from Toronto. We tried salads and vegetarian pizza. Just excellent. She can hardly wait to return!! Don't understand why anyone would give this place a bad review...even the wait staff was attentive, returning 2 or 3 times to refill our water and to ask if we were satisfied with our meal. read more

Dill Pickles & Wings as appetizers - excellent! Perch dinner - excellent! (as always). We live in town and have eaten here many times and I have only had one meal I did not like. It was a vegetable stir-fry. But have had the perch many times and it has always been good. The wings here are my absolute favorite over any other restaurant. read more

Decided to go there Saturday night for dinner, made reservations at 4:45 and had no problem getting a 5:45 res. Our local eatery (The Binbrook Grill) was closed for a wedding so we thoght we'd try the Argyle Grill. We went with friends as The Argyle had mussels on as a feature. They must be on a ration as we had to ask if there where more as we had to wait for more to be done. It was not that busy and only a few people went for the mussels. What we had where good, but our main meal seemed to take forever to come to our table. Food was slow but good when it came out. We have been there before when the mussels where plentiful and you did not wait. As for the kitchen it was slow then as it is now. Wait staff can only do their best as they are not cooking your meal. We live in Hamilton less then twenty minutes away. read more

We and our guests have always been pleased with the selection of interesting dishes. Food is well prepared, staff has always been accommodating and friendly. We are lucky to have such an establishment in this town! We don't take it for granted! We got there at a time (2pm on a. Rainy Saturday) where there were literally 3-4 tables being served. Not busy. Only one visible waitress, looked at us, proceeded to keep talking to her table. NO ONE seated us, we waited 10 minutes before we decided to seat ourselves in the bar area. Waited another 10 mins for someone to ask if we wanted a drink. (reminder, it was NOT busy) we could clearly see 3 waitresses around just chatting. Finally we got a drink. Someone else came in and sat beside us, they got service right away and the waitress even took their food order before ours, while we had our menus closed waiting for someone to take our order. They got their food first. I ordered a chicken blt. It came with zero bacon. Had to ask for it. When we asked for our bill, it took her LITERALLY 15 mins to get it. And their were 3 waitresses just hanging out chatting away at the end of the bar. No tip. Probably THE worst service I've ever had. Food was good tho. Not going back. read more
