Unfortunately I wanted to love this camp but things took a turn for the worst on the last day of my daughter attending this camp. Before I get in to that - the general improvement would be to : Send out an email introducing you to all staff and counselors, as well as a daily or even every other day general idea of what activities took place that day. You will not meet anyone. On the first day of camp a counselor comes to your car and gets your child, that is as much interaction as you get with staff. Their parking instruction email is more in depth than any other piece of information you will receive regarding your child. Which brings me to the parking situation. On the last day, my daughter excitingly (attempting to) get out of our vehicle with a smile on her face and a few bestie gift bags in hand was met by a smiling Counsler ready to help assist. My child lock was stuck and so I had to manually lift the lock and help, but while doing this, Deborah Turobiner came up anxiously and loudly saying "WE HAVE TO KEEP THIS LINE MOVING" very condescendingly and aggressively whisking my child away (along with a few other snooty remarks). I contemplated turning around and getting my child but knew how excited she was for the last day. I decided I would write an email to the director acknowledging my appreciation for Deborahs dedication to ensuring everyone get to camp safely.. but that she could go about it with a better attitude .. A few hours later, I received a phone call from a counselor that "my daughter was in the art class decorating glasses and her own glasses have gone missing". I then got a call from the director "your daughter was changing for a fashion show and put her glasses in her pocket" (nice - putting it all back on the 7 year old" Days and days go by (I said I would give it a week for them to find them until I would seek compensation" these are medically necessary glasses.. my daughter has very weak eyes that cross without them) They claimed they found them! Woohoo! I head over pick them up only to pull off, have my daughter put them on to say "these aren't mine mom" I pull over. Same color glasses.. different brand and smaller. I sent a receipt showing how much I had paid for the glasses a WEEK prior but the director had the audacity to say it wasn't an itemized copy. As if I would LIE about the cost of the frames. It wasn't until I posted on social media that I got a response saying this situation would be handled. Parents ask yourself this: If a business who is responsible for children could lack accountability for weeks over.. glasses.. would you trust them with more serious situations. Any rebuttal to this review would just go to show they have a very difficult time taking swift action and accountability. read more

Not only does he do art, but there are so many amazing daily activities that he loves including cooking, theatre, magic, singing and dancing...the list goes on and on. Our family has been involved with Summer Art Academy for probably close to 10 years. First with my 16 year old, and now with my 8 year old. They both LOVE it there. The staff, the programming, everything is fabulous. I love that they also have camps during school breaks (Thanksgiving, Winter, etc.), because as a full time working parent, it makes my life so much easier. My kids attended the Agoura Art Camp for the first time this year (ages 5 and 9)and absolutely loved it. On the 2nd day they were talking about going back next summer, and asking to attend additional weeks. They were both so happy to be there, and loved the counselors/aids they enteracted with. This was my 5 year Olds 1st real camp, she's extremely shy, reserved and takes time to warm up, so I was nervous sending her, but I'm just so glad I did. All three of my kids (5, 7, 9) attend Summer Art Academy. I have never met an Educator or Director like Ashley Falsnes. She cares deeply about her campers, the parents and the staff. My children come home with the most creative projects that I hang up and want to keep forever. It is NOT only art projects. They cook, do relay races and talent shows, meet live animals, dress up for theme days and most importantly, come home with everlasting memories every single day! Parents beware, art camp 101 hires camp counselors that are not fit to watch our kids. My daughter had a horrific experience here and is still traumatized. The camp director did nothing and of course sided with the kids l/ bully who works here. Please stay away. read more

I am in disbelief that no one has reviewed this awesome summer camp here on Yelp yet. But yay for me so I can be the first to toot my horn about it. In the past three years of sending our kids to summer camp, two of their summers have been spent here. As a matter of fact, they are currently enrolled right now as I type this little review. First of all, the camp is located at the Ilan Ramon school off Lost Hills Road off the 101 freeway. Very easy peasy to get to. The grass and concrete grounds are a good size, with a lot of fun activities for the kids to do. I highly suggest you sign your kids up as soon as enrollment opens which is usually around February/March because the classes fill up quick and every parent wants to make sure their little ones get their first choice activities. Parents are pretty cut throat out here and I think they are dying to get their kids summer planned out as soon as possible. What I love about this camp is that a lot of the classes take place inside, away from the 100+ degree, Valley summer heat. Don't get me wrong. They do have lunch and participate in fun activities outside during the day but you can be relieved that your kid won't exerting themselves in the heat for 6 hours straight. This was a problem for me when I sent my kids to a traditional type camp last year. I worried every day that I'd get a call from office telling me that my kids were being transported to the emergency room for sunstroke. They also offer healthy, yummy hot lunches made by a Chef Shantai if you're too lazy (like me) to pack a boring sandwich in the morning. The variety of classes offered here are awesome. Cooking, Jedi Fighting, Wacky Science, Clay, Photography, Robot Building, Sculpture, Knitting/Crochet, Performance Art, Dance, Cheerleading, Video Animation, Woodworking, Miniatures, Architecture, and of course ART!!! But the list goes on and on and they change with each summer. The place is run by some fantastic directors named Ashley and Morgan as well as their Big Cheese, David. They are very approachable, helpful and simply good people. My kids love the camp counselors and there are a lot of them around and always with a big smile on their face for drop offs and pick ups. I can't say enough good things about this camp. My kids are already planning to come here next summer which is fine by me because compared to most of the camps around here which charge $100+ per day, Summer Art Academy is actually more affordable and well worth it. read more

This camp is amazing! I currently have three daughters at this camp and they LOVE it. This camp offers so much more than Art. You will see on their website, they offer drama, cooking, animal experiences, just to name a few. One of the best things this camp has to offer is their staff. You can tell they really care. LOVE Art Camp! LOVE Ashley! This is the second year my kids have been at Art Camp and I 1000% recommend this camp! My daughter didn't love one of her classes and Ashley went above and beyond to make her happy and move her to a different class. Ashley is so caring and goes out of her way to accommodate all the kids and parents. I have a friend whose daughter is gluten free and is taking a cooking class with my daughter. They emailed her all the ingredients they use for each recipe and make sure she can participate every time! The teenager CITs are wonderful and make the camp really fun for the kids! I wish I could give 57 stars! This camp is incredible. When I was a camper, i had the absolute best time! So many great friends were made. All the activities were fun, entertaining, and run by the best staff! The staff does everything to make sure all campers are safe and having a good time. The directors are some of the most hard working people. Ashley does such an amazing job running the camp. She puts everything into Art Camp and does such a phenomenal job. i have been to this camp for a few years. please dont send your child here. it gets very hot, and the people dont know what to do with you. they just crowd you all into one room (MPR), and recite a play that is HORRIBLE!!!!! These kids dont even know how to act ugh. its very uncomfortable. Also, the counselors dont really seem to give a sh*t, so yeah, not that great. again, not fun at all, and the entertainment is AWFUL. no one likes it!!!!! it is really weird and annoying. thanks for reading this, dont sign your kids up for art camp. (its auful) my kids also came home crying everyday because they were not getting the care and attention. read more

This is by far my kids' favorite summer camp! They really have their act together in all aspects -- fun, friendly, safe, organized. It is pricey, but not really compared to other camps of its caliber and worth every penny. I love that in the upper camp siblings between the ages of 7 and 11 can sign up for the same workshops if desired (most camps split up campers by age). They don't allow nuts (no PB&Js) so that can be tough if you have a picky eater, but I completely understand and agree with the rationale behind a nut-free campus to provide a safe environment for kids with allergies. The only downside I can think of is that due to its location it can get very hot (outside...the classrooms are well air-conditioned), but they do a great job providing shady activities, misters and water around campus. I plan to send my kids there for many summers to come! read more
