My daughter has been taking classes at The Arterie since the beginning of the school year. I can't tell you how much she loves it! She loves going in, getting her things together and starting to make something. She loves that she has freedom to express and create... with some guidance and feedback but also enough room for her work to be HER work vs a cookie cutter composition that looks exactly like some other artist. She gets to see and play with art the way she wants to, AND I love bringing pieces home and hanging them on the wall. (Talk about a self-esteem booster for her!) I love that Cara and her team bring real art concepts to the kids in a way that they understand and relate to. I highly recommend The Arterie to anyone who is looking to support their child's artistic expression. It's sooooo important... We love the mixed media class! Having art time is such a special thing for my girls. They can let their imaginations run wild and explore all kinds of artistic techniques. Fantastic art school for kids! I firmly believe in exposing kids to art and different artistic methods. My daughter loves every minute in class... I particularly like the one in one attention with the teacher which is really helpful in getting my daughter interested in art (which she loves)!! My Daughter who is 6 did Art camp and we have gone there for art days for kids , always amazing ! Cara is so patient and so kind ! This art studio is a gem! My shy daughter started coming here at 4, and was instantly comfortable with Cara and her staff. My daughter did a winter camp and came home with some amazing projects that she was so excited about and proud of. She's now in weekly class and loves it. (And tells me she wishes she could go every day). They use an amazing array of materials and she's been exposed to so many cool things - print making, using clay, self portrait - all at such a young age. My daughter is a naturally introverted person, and it was really difficult to get her to want to do anything, or talk to anyone, so I thought getting involved in some after-school classes would help her socialization skills. Since she loves to draw I decided that an art class would be a great class for her, and we are so thrilled that we found The Arterie, Cara is AMAZING!!!! My daughter is learning so much about art, and her skills are really growing, she is always so excited to go to The Arterie. Also, since my daughter has been taking class at The Arterie she has really come out of her shell and is so open to new experiences, I can't thank Cara enough for everything she's done for my daughter! What a great experience my daughter had while attending summer camp. Each day she was exposed to various mediums and never was ready to come home. Cara is the best!! My 16 y.o. loves the Teen Class and my 7 y.o. enjoys going to the drop-in class which is really convenient for us!

My children have been attending The Arterie since they were toddlers. They even tried out another local toddler art spot and asked to go back to The Arterie because they learn more and make beautiful things they are proud of. I love everything that the owner Cara does to teach my children art. My pediatrician also recommended art classes for my son to strengthen his fingers for handwriting. Her projects offer college age curriculum that is age appropriate and engaging. Her projects are fun and use a mix of materials from pastels to clay. What a great week! My 6 and 9 year olds attended a summer camp at the Arterie and had a really terrific experience. They created a wide variety of projects and were so proud of what they made. They made an op art painting, an animal shaped clay pot, earth art and a papier mache sculpture. The studio is a comfortable space with lots of natural light and the kids all seemed very interested and happy to be there. I was impressed with how Cara had several different projects going so that no student was left waiting for something new when they were finished. I will definitely send them again. This summer they have had lots of "go" time with lots of active adventures. The days at the Arterie let them explore their creativity and experiment with lots of materials. I was so impressed with the different forms of art my daughter was bringing home after an art camp she attended. I decided to do a wall hanging class for adults and fell in love with this studio. My experience at The Arterie was superb! I wanted to find a space for my kids to create a little Jackson Pollock-esque piece for our home, without making all the splatter mess in our own space. I called Cara to discuss my vision. She was expedient in her response, she asked great questions and made all the arrangements for me. All we had to do was show up! When we arrived, she was prepared with a variety of supplies. She took the time to explain them all to my kids and then let them create! The entire time, Cara was kind and patient. She led my project with useful pauses and suggestions. This was an over the top wonderful experience. I would give The Arterie more stars of I could. read more

Great little place, quiet and clean and so conveniently located. My two sons did a week of summer camp here. They loved it and are usually super critical, very picky. Drop off and pick up was so easy, parking right in front. Their clothes were protected, thank you Cara, so thoughtful of you. Basically I highly recommend this place. My daughter has gone to camp here for two summers, and we have taken a parent & child class together. Cara, the owner, is incredibly creative and the projects she choses are always unique and allow for people of all levels of artistic ability to feel creative and successful with their projects. She gives instruction about how to do a project, and then allows each person's creativity to be unfettered so that each finished project is unique and an expression of one's individuality. We were excited to try The Arterie after hearing many good things about the place but I was completely put off when I was asked to leave my young daughters alone, because 'this is for them', not me. I was told 'to go'. And this was at our 'free' class which cost me $30. How was I suppose to see for myself if this was an art class I wanted them to continue attending? And then to ask me to leave my girls with strangers? I think not. No way. Not for me. My girls were so put off too they wouldn't have gone again if I begged them. read more

My children have been attending the 4 to 6 class since 2017, minus a couple of months away for breaks and family time. We have an incredible amount of amazing artwork, some of which has been framed and displayed in our home. I delight in seeing what is made each week, and the variety of media used. They sure accomplish a lot in 45 minutes; most importantly, they absolutely love this class! Cara's background and advanced education in art and emphasis on teaching children is one of the many reasons to bring your children here. I love her philosophy in allowing each child to create an original work of art vs. a contrived idea of what the end result should be. Her teaching assistants are super friendly and have strong backgrounds in art also. Lastly, it feels good to support a locally owned and lovingly operated business that helps to enrich young minds and advance the arts. Give the trial class a try!
