I have lived in many places across Phoenix but this place is by far my favorite. The management, specifically Maddi is unbelievable. The care that Maddi takes to making sure that this complex is homey is everything. We have so many events that are thrown to make the complex feel inclusive. This allows for everyone to make friends and recognize each other when we hang out frequently at the pool. Maddi is an absolute star and a radiant light at the complex, she will always greet you with a smile, answer any questions or concerns and helps put together events (even in her personal time) that will help the complex feel more like a community than any complex I've ever lived in. If it wasn't for moving back home to NY, I will still be living at the Astor. Truly consider the Astor as your next home, you will not be disappointed. read more

I had a recent theft from my storage locker at Astor, which resulted in the loss of approximately $5,000 worth of camping gear and other expensive personal items. The theft occurred because management failed to place a lock on the door after I explicitly requested one. Furthermore, the fencing design makes it remarkably easy for an individual to reach through and unlock the latch. Despite these clear lapses in security and oversight, I have only received generic statements regarding non-liability and "thank you for your understanding." The lack of accountability makes it clear that Mark Taylor doesn't care about their residents or resident's belongings. Theft is a persistent issue here, ranging from missing packages to vehicle break-ins. There is the presence of junkies that hang around the building and the accumulation of trash in the hallways--which often goes uncollected despite valet trash charges--further contributing to the declining living conditions. But I doubt they would share any of that with you on your tour. read more

Two days after visiting Blume -- and thanks to Aubrey's recommendation -- my friend and I decided to make Astor the final stop on her list, bringing us to property number seven. When we arrived, we were welcomed by Susan, who had this wonderful, classic New York energy about her (which made sense, since she's originally from there). She instantly connected with my friend, asking all the right questions and even bonding over their shared knowledge of New York, as my friend had gone to college there. Susan was genuinely excited to show us around and happily gave us a tour of the two units my friend was most interested in. She was upfront and apologetic about a bit of dust left behind from a recent city-wide dust storm -- something out of her control -- which just showed her honesty and professionalism. What really stood out, though, was how much Susan clearly loves her job. She greeted and chatted with tenants as we toured, and it gave the whole property a real sense of community. Because of her warmth and the way she carried herself, Astor didn't just feel like another apartment complex -- it felt like a home. read more

I leased here for two years. Cons: The area itself, no fault of the complex, has gotten worse. So many homeless people camping close by, wondering into the garage, and on the property. I wouldn't live here as a single female. Instead of investing into air purifiers, they pump toxic air freshener all over in the enclosed space. I reached out to the company they purchase them from and confirmed that they do contain VOC's (volatile organic compounds), which are linked to a plethora of health issues. The property cares more about itself than the residents as demonstrated with the garage door being broken. They waited for 6+months while allowing wide open access to our cars we pay to have secure before hiring security. If they cared and honored our contract, they would have done that immediately, instead of waiting until the number of complaints and break ins added up. When encountering an issue that the on-site managers could not help me resolve and asking for someone higher up who could help me, Maddie said that she had no one above her, so apparently, she thinks she is Mark Taylor. Maddie has some of the worst customer service qualities I've ever encountered in a role that she plays. About a year into living there, they thought it would be a good idea to change the rocks at the designated dog area to fake grass, which holds the smell of dog waste and they don't enforce the picking up behind your dog rule, so there is poop randomly all over the outside of the property. They are jumping in on the band wagon of increasing rent like crazy. In two years, my apt is going for $900 more. This is Phoenix, not LA. Pros: Maintenance has always been prompt, kind, and efficient. The apartments themselves are beautiful and on the newer side. The amenities, when they allow you to use them, are beautiful and well maintained. Never had a bug problem and the walls are thick. They do enforce the noise pollution rule at 10pm. read more

Joel with maintenance is awesome! Super friendly and always helpful. However, I've lived at this property for almost 2 years now and the amenities have slowly become less available for residents to use. The club house is now only open during office hours and requires a very large deposit to reserve. Pool is hardly ever heated properly and outdoor TVs are hardly ever used. Most residents used to watch football games on Sunday but because the media controller for the TVs is inside the leasing office we no longer can watch football on Sundays because the office is closed. On top of the monthly fee for the community amenities it seems a little ridiculous because we can't even access them 24/7. Used to be a great place to live and hang out but it has gone downhill! No security whatsoever. Fob readers always broken so you are either locked out in the middle of the night, or the doors remain unlocked and anyone can get in. Virtually ZERO cameras in a complex that should have 100 at the minimum, especially in the garage area where anyone can get mugged or raped. Flower Street entrance and side of the building is pitch black at night and management refuses to put up lighting and cameras. Internet literally NEVER works properly - so forget about work from home. Power outages constantly in this neighborhood. Carpeting by virtually every exit has dog pee on the rugs. Their carpet cleaners can't seem to figure out how to clean a carpet. Management is unresponsive to everything and constantly tries to make you believe something is being done so you will get tired of complaining. Swimming pool water is not heated and ice cold. No jacuzzi. Gym is lacking and rarely has sanitizing wipes so high COVID risk. Mask-wearing not enforced so you have to get off the elevator at times because your neighbors just waltz into the elevator not wearing masks. Same in gym. Save your money and go to Pearl Biltmore when they open in Mid-January or The Angela. read more

The apartments are fine, but their package system is really bad. Packages are lost or given to the wrong people all the time, and the management takes no responsibility. I should also note that we pay for this system, so on top of losing our packages, they also take our money every month to do so. I wouldn't move here if you receive a lot of shipments. Security is bad as well, as the garage door is broken for months at a time and cars have been vandalized. It's a shame, but I would avoid these if you are looking for luxury apartments. read more

Really poor experience for the money being spent each month - Garage door has been broken for 6+ months now creating a security concern for cars being broken into by thieves coming off Flower Street. Security is non-existent here for the parking garage. One person had their Catalytic Convertor Stolen and several cars have been broken into. Pool Heater has been broken for a long time now (5+ Months) and when residents ask the front desk they do not give a clear answer as to when it will be fixed. Instead Mark Taylor Employees are taught to LIE to the Residents. Pool is freezing and not really swimmable even in the heat. Would not recommend Astor given all the other options in Phoenix with better pricing, customer service and fully-working facilities. Get ready for some communist fake answer from management below saying that they are working hard to fix everything. This place is a joke and you are the punchline! Look elsewhere unless you enjoy having your money being taken and not getting much in return. Watch out for all the dog urine on the interior and carpets at this place. read more

The highlight, the #1 reason to rent here would be the professional management team. Every concern is addressed in order to maintain the highest standard of living within a safe, clean, upscale community complex. For me, I have not had a single issue with the building, people, or management. Walking only 20 steps to fabulous Sprouts makes my life so easy, saving time and energy! The gym, the pool, the club room, mail area, pet sauna, all at the cleanest, perfect level. You also get many opportunities to attend social events and meet new people. Warning to potential renters and current renters. My catalytic converter was stolen from my car on the night of 8/15. I do park in the paid parking garage. I tried posting on the apartment's app "Henri" to alert other tenants to keep an eye out for suspicious activity. I tried to post 3 separate days in a row and on the fourth day they deleted all the pending posts. I feel unsafe living here knowing that they won't allow communication that involves safety to be posted on the app. Please consider this before you rent here. The garage door has been broken since 8/13. When the door is broken it is left open so that everyone can enter/exit. To date (8/27) it has not been repaired and no updates have been given. There is only 2 cameras in the parking garage, at the entrance and exit. When i spoke with the front office assistant manager, she was not empathetic to the situation only stated "we are not liable." They have not made any attempts to make it safer, only stated they will let their security know to keep an eye out. I have not seen an increase in security since the incident and I have not seen them drive through all the levels of the parking garage. It would be helpful if they place more cameras in all areas of the garage to help in events like this but they have not made any notion to do so. So again, keep your safety in mind before you rent here. read more

I have now lived in this building for two years. I must say, I originally loved it! However, it has started to change and the amenities have started to not be reliable. The coffee machine works maybe once every 10 times I attempt to use it. The lockers which hold packages never seems to be accurate. Now, with the club house, you must rent and pay a 500 deposit and then a 250 dollar fee to use after 6pm. We are told the pool is heated but they are not. We use to have food trucks and now we never have food trucks come to the property. We also use to have parties hosted by the managers which never occurs anymore. The management team disregards many issues that the tenants report. Safety of the area is also changing, for example, the couch in the lobby was stolen. Maintenance team is amazing i must say and ALWAYS has been. I would not encourage living here due to the management team and the lack of amenities. read more

The Astor was the ideal place to live when we were looking for an apartment. Now that we have been here 10 months our experience hasn't been the best. Its a great place to live but there has been some bad things that have happened that questions our choice. The garage has had two burglaries in the last 10 months, when there are serious issues that the community needs answers to the management team always tells us "we were instructed by corporate to do this or that," delivery companies struggle to deliver which leads to stolen/miss delivered or delayed package shipping because there isn't an effective system in place. There always happens to be something new or reoccurring every two-three weeks. Prices are good when they include the amenities but since we haven't had the same access to our amenities due to Covid the complex hasn't worked with us as we have been working with them to keep everyone safe. They have closed the amenities for a few months then opened for about three weeks but EXTREMELY RESTRICTED and are closed again and yet they still keep the rent price the same even though we are not getting what we agreed to pay for unlike many other complex's that have accommodated their residents The Astor has not and doesn't intend to. read more
