Are hipsters still a thing? Although the movement, in its most classic sense, peaked about 15 years ago, you can still find some hold outs. And, you'll probably find them here at The Attic on Adams! This is a very cool bar. The drinks are strong and cheap. The atmosphere is eclectic and comfortable. The service is usually fast, friendly, and accurate. Local products? Yes. Pretty much all of the local distilleries are well represented here. Breweries too. The food? I haven't eaten here since Manos closed shop, but the apps looked pretty good. A couple of couches for comfortable seating, a couple or three pinball machines, pool tables, a dart board, or two. Yeah, you'll find them here. A few board games as well. The crowd? We've been here a few times and this place is such a staple in Toledo. It's been around for quite some time and has lots of regulars that come here. The bartender staff is awesome and always nice to chat to. They have a great selection of beers on tap and a good bar food menu. Thought I reviewed this spot. It reminds me of a bar in downtown Austin, TX. You know how they say keep Austin weird. This goes here. Not bad weird. Just every time you come its different from the last. Either meet an awesome kinda strange bartender or some really interesting patrons. They often have a palm reader there. Hard to describe unless you have been to Austin. The good thing is they always have good craft beer for me and can make a good cocktail for my sweetheart. Bad thing is I never come out of here without spending at least $40 and I didn't have food. I ordered a few appetizers before and didn't care for any so I took a star away. Manos Greek restaurant is downstairs so suggest you eat there then come up. They have an outdoor patio for smokers(yuck) and pool table. Just come check it out. I love Mano's Greek restaurant. The ambience is lovely, the staff are quirky and pleasant, and the food is homey and tasty. But sometimes, what I like even more than to spend an evening eating at Mano's is spending an evening ABOVE manos at the Attic on Adams. The attic serves the full Mano's menu, along with their own surprisingly fantastic bar menu including lovely fried pickles and some surprising vegan / vegetarian options. They focus on craft beers, and I like to just ask one of the girls behind the counter "whats new and great?" They always find something I'll like. And speaking of the girls, the Attic is staffed by a crew of friendly, pretty girls who always show a bit too much cleavage (but never distastefully!!!) :) They'll get to know your name, and your drinks... and quite like the famous CHEERS, they'll make you feel at home. Being on the same block as the Ottawa Tavern, makes this a great jumping point for a night of heavy drinking. And it's also a great hiding spot if you're looking to avoid the youthful insanity that is the OT. They have a covered outside patio for all of you smokers out there, and sometimes they will project TV & movies on the building next door that you can watch from the porch. I can't say i've hit all of the hot spots in Toledo as far as night life is concerned, and really I'm not interested since I have so many great options up and down Adams street. The Attic is easily one of my favorite places to spend a fun, safe evening in Toledo. Cool people, great food & drinks and a killer, old school, very Toledo atmosphere. Two thumbs up! read more

I love the Margherita pizza! NO ONE does it better! Cute bar. Very good food, and has live music. It's probably my favorite bar in downtown toledo. It has a nice back patio you can sit. The people are friendly and the staff prompt. I also really like the Poutine. I'm pretty sure I'll crave that until the day I lay in my death bed. They do offer other dishes and bar snacks, but I never can pull myself away from those. My husband likes to try new things and he's enjoyed everything he's had. Very satisfied each time. read more

How have I yet to review the attic? This is a top-notch local watering hole for OWE and UpTown residents that boasts one of the best craft beer selections in town. It's also just a straight up great conversation bar where you'll find many of Toledo's most interesting people. Pretty good beer selection but the bartenders are common-place rude and only seem to serve people they know. They tend to ignore others waiting at the bar for drinks if they don't know you. I'm totally biased because one of my favorite ladies, Amelia, runs this joint. However, she's really good at what she does. Mikey, Stephanie, and Jason always make sure I leave happy!!! One of the best things about The Attic is its commitment to locally-sourced foods. I was informed that the honey in my hot toddy came from a customer's dad who happened to be a beekeeper with a local apiary! The Attic also offers menu items from Manos, the Greek restaurant downstairs, as well as a few other "bar-friendly" items. A lot of it is healthy and some of it is DEFINITELY not...like their legendary mac & cheese. Rest assured your cocktails will be crafted with care and that you can always get something new. AND...they might just have the best Bloody Mary on Adams St. The Greek Cheese on the skewer with the olives that comes with it is kind of a slice of heaven. I haven't been to any of the Cajun dinners yet, but I reaaaallly want to go! Just another sign that The Attic is making major moves to stay ahead of the game. I love going to the attic when it is less crowded. The food is great. Best hummus around and the falafel is decent. I love Amelia. She is very friendly and always helpful. Some of the other staff can be a bit ehh cliquey or whatever. Other customers are generally friendly and its a fun place to stop on a night down Adams street. read more

This is a great bar. I had mixed feelings about it in the past, but it seems to have really found it's clientele and feet and does what it does well best. You have friendly bartenders that are knowledgeable enough to make a complex drink, and the choices of liquor really range from low end to high end. You can get tipsy for a moderate price, but this bar tends to really do it's research on the better range of alcohol. If you're going to go to The Attic, get yourself something nice and complex and treat yourself. The staff will give you a couple ideas and are cool with letting you taste their new often changing beer selection before making a decision. I'm really pleased with their bar menu as well. Don't get me wrong, it's bar food, but they do a nice job of making sure all walks of life are able to find something on the menu. Vegan brats? Sure if you like that. Hot cheese cubes? Oh yeah, I like that. You can also sometimes get the menu from the Greek restaurant that inhabits the first floor and order off of that. My only wishes? Upgrade the bar decor and give it a good scrub. I'm not the only one that has noticed a kind of weird smell from the bar. It's a bar but it has carpet, you can imagine what spilled old beer can smell like over time, and I imagine that is what the weird funk is coming from. The last thing that would make this perfect is if someone would refinish the wooden bar. It's beautiful, but it's kind of sticky as old woodwork gets with too much lacquer and wear. I do really appreciate a separate area for people to smoke while at the bar with the outdoor upper and lower patios. I'm not a smoker, and I REALLY appreciate it when I can walk in a bar without a cloud of noxious toxins. read more

The food always smells tasty, but I go there for the great beer. The atmosphere is amazing with plenty of seating and an outside portion as well. There's even couches. I found it pretty unprofessional for my 3 friends and I to be ID'd a total of 3 times by just standing/being in the bar. Even after we bought drinks standing there being ID'd. The only 4 people of color to be pointed out multiple times? As we were there for 2 hours and watched not any others being ID'd! Love this place! If you are looking for a laid back atmosphere where the local Toledoans go, this is your place! It's a great place to come to after work or to hang out with friends. When the weather is nice, there is also an outside patio to chill at. A pool table is available as well and there are many different types of seating arrangements as well for groups of all sizes. Love their alcoholic beverage selection. There always seems to be a revolving menu and they keep some of their staple drinks for the regulars. The bartenders are all awesome and super nice! Sometimes it gets a little crazy busy. There was one time where we sat at the bar for 45 minutes and weren't able to order any food because of how busy it was. We ended up getting our drinks on the house since we waited so long. One of the best things here is that besides the typical bar food that you can order, you can also conveniently order some Greek food from Manos, which is the restaurant downstairs. I recommend getting the gyro, gyro plate, pretzel bites, and the cheeseballs. Those are our go tos! You will definitely find me here on a Friday afternoon/evening often! Pros: - laid back environment for groups of all sizes - great alcohol selection and great option to order food from the Greek restaurant downstairs, Manos - dogs are even welcome! Cons: - sometimes when it gets crazy busy, it's hard to get the bartenders attention - parking is plentiful, but it is narrow in the lot so be careful when backing out - some of m friends have told me that their car has gotten broken into, but that has never happened to me and I have always felt safe there Why I gave it a 5... Ugh, I wish I could give this place a 0. My poor review is for one reason and one reason only, the bartender that looks like Snookie (sorry I do not remember her name). I have gone in several times and had a horrible experience every time I have been in her section of the bar. The first time at the Attic i went with a group from work. One of my co-workers sent me a drink, which I was happy to get. When I get my bill I realized she charged me for it. I asked her about it and defensively she told me that it was my drink so she put it on my tab. To not start a fight I just paid my tab and left. After talking to my co-worker the next day, I realize that she charged us both for the drink! The next visit to the Attic I am ecstatic to see my new favorite bartender walking towards me. Knowing what happened the previous time, I paid for each drink as it came with cash. A group of my friends were there as well and they had a tab open. After about 2 beers she comes up to me and tells me that she needs me to pay my tab right now. I explain to her that my tab was paid already. She informs me that my friends left their tab and that I needed to take care of it. My friends were actually playing pool, still drinking, still wanting to keep their tab open, NOT LEAVING. As I point this out to her she runs over and starts yelling at my friends that they need to pay their tab right away. Not sure why there is such a rush (given it was maybe midnight) they look at their tab to divide it up. That is when they notice a handful of drinks that they did not order on their tab. When they bring this to her attention she flips out and starts yelling at the group of them telling them they need to pay for the drinks.When they say that they will pay for the drinks they actually ordered, but will not pay for these extra drinks that came out of nowhere, she calls over security. My friends try to explain the situation, but she was out of hand, yelling and flying off her rocker. On the way to leave I found another bartender, who appeared to be more in control of things, and told him that she was the rudest bartender I have ever had. He said sorry and went back to his work. I think it is safe to say that that nothing was ever done. read more

I really really really wanna like this place. I mean, I like it - but it doesn't like me. I have been here a handful of times and the service is always very unremarkable. I don't expect anyone to throw me a party, but at least show me you have teeth. Seems they are more concerned with the regulars/friends. Anyway, we usually come here in the summer and hang outside when we need a downtown spot to all meet up at. I wish I lived in Toledo. We stop here every time we're in town. The Attic has several craft beer selections on tap and serves good bar food. I most enjoy the macaroni and cheese. The chill atmosphere and friendly staff keep me coming back. The weather was beautiful yesterday, so the deck was the perfect place to enjoy my Maumee Bay IPA, Greek salad, pierogies, and macaroni and cheese. This place has decent drinks and plays good music and has good fries. It can get too busy though and they charged me for five drinks when I only had three and it was much too loud and crowded for me to be able to dispute it. This is probably the best bar in Toledo. Everything is very cheap (well drinks at about $5-6) and the wait time on drinks is a bit faster than other places in the area (5 min on weekdays, 15 on weekends). The atmosphere is what makes it, though: if you have some out of town guests and you're worried about all the fratneck bars, take them here! Every night of the week the music is different and it's always good.
