Overall good. We got a sampler flight. The Hefeweizen was pure vinegar and clearly had gone bad. The bartender flipped it out for another beer without asking which one we wanted to try. Would have been nice if he asked what we might want instead and then pulled the Hefeweizen out of tap. If anyone drank that Hefeweizen without knowing that it shouldn't taste like pure apple cider vinegar, I hope their tummy was ok later. Food was fine but took forever to get to us. There were hostesses in the front door who said it would be a 45 minute wait for a table. But we went upstairs and there were plenty of seat yourself tables and space at the bar, so I don't know what that was about. The band playing outside was a nice addition.

Gorgeous upstairs and down with warm wood, big windows, and a big bar on each level. We were able to do a tasting- loved it! They have deviled eggs of day - special burger, etc so make sure to ask! I had duck wings, they also have regular chicken wings. My partner- a burger with peanut butter- delicious! We shall return for sure!

Stop two on our little brewery tour of Toledo. This place is massive and full of charm and character. This used to be a hotel (Oliver Place is now an apartment building) and there are two floors with tons of space to enjoy. Instead of a flight like I usually try on a first visit, I went with the "Ballgame" Kölsch. Super crisp with hints of caramel and peanuts, the perfect quaff for a ballgame! For dinner, I had the pulled pork sandwich with fresh cut fries and a side of Brussels Sprouts. All was tasty. The sprouts could use work as they were slightly dry and the stumps were still attached. Service was great and the staff was super friendly. Will definitely be back!

Beer- 4 stars Apps- 4 stars Atmosphere- 4 stars Food- 2.5 MBB was pretty inconsistent. The space itself is very cool, the converted Oliver House. They offer a variety of beers, wine, and cocktails as well. They have a good menu with a variety of options, burgers, pizza, salads. As others mentioned, the hostesses did not seem to want to be there. She seemed annoyed to seat our group of six, though it was 2pm and was not very busy. Luckily our server was good, and everything came out in a reasonable amount of time. I do not drink beer, but I did like their cider. My beer drinking friends did like them, rating the beer as a four. We shared the giant pretzel, which really is giant, and the Pickel bread, which was more like pickel pizza. Both were awesome. What was not good was a majority or the rest of our meal. The bread on my sandwich was dry and stale. Quiche was not good, very flavorful less and too soft. Mac and cheese was not cheesy, my friend barely ate any. The potatoes on the brat platter were good, but the brat was not, it was already split and soft, my friend described it as being a tofu dog. The only items that were good were the Cesar salad and the beer cheese soup. Overall: come for the beer and apps, skip a meal

We stopped for a drink. Bartender was awesome. Oktoberfest was Caramel Kiss Martini. Yum.

We were there early right at opening for the most part. Lots and lots of parking lots so I assume it gets really busy. We sat close to the bar and I did see there is some patio seating. Tried their white sangria and it is light & refreshing! Ordered the six pack omelette which was full of veggies and sausage almost more than the egg. I think we should check it out later in the day to get and confirm the vibe

I used to frequent MBBC for lunches when they 1st opened approximately 30 years ago. I moved to LV for 20 years, and when I returned to Toledo this was one of the restaurants I wanted to go back to for its beer cheese soup and the beer flights. It was delicious, and the decor has the same charm as I remembered . The wood-fired pizza had a nice cheese pull to it, also! Our waitress was very friendly and did a great job assisting us with order choices. I can't wait to come back to check out the patio seating.

    Extremely greasy fried pickles.

It's gotten to the point where we'll take a year off in between visits, come back and immediately remind ourselves why we took the previous year off. Food is completely miss over hit, and while the atmosphere is as killer as ever, it's just not worth the frustration of poorly executed food. Yes, the chicken sandwich is still one of the best in the city, but it's going to take a complete overhaul of the menu and kitchen before it will ever come back into our regular rotation. So dang disappointing.

We were visiting from out of town and didn't realize how many places were closed on Mondays. We came here seeking beer and pizza. The hostess seated us fairly quickly, given how small the restaurant is. I didn't see any beers I liked, so I tried the Blueberry Muffin cocktail. It was different but not bad. My husband got an ipa, which he thought was alright. We also split a taco pizza and an order of waffle fries. The fries were good. The pizza was mediocre, which was too bad. The crust was really good, but the pizza over all could have been called a hamburger pizza and you wouldn't have know the difference. We added salsa and sour cream, and that helped. It's an okay spot to stop, but I wouldn't seek it out.

Just a sneak peek of the beer artifacts ..

The food is not that memorable but they do have an extensive menu and I'm sure there's something for everyone here. What was memorable for me was the beer artifacts. They have an impressive wall filled with shelves of different types of beers. On top of that, there's also cases full of vintage beer momentos. This is a fun little place to stop with friends, enjoy some beers and look at some beer history.

Stopped in at Maumee Bay Brewing for a late dinner after a trip to the Toledo Zoo Lights Before Christmas. We only had to wait for a table to be cleaned before being seated in the upstairs portion of the restaurant. There is also a full far in this area, and this room also houses the beer vats, so there was a lot to look at. Several tvs around the room playing various channels - a little something for everyone. We started off by ordering a flight - 6 choices for $8.25. This price was lower than we normally pay for a choice of 4 at one of our go-tos in Sylvania. MBBC had a very decent selection to choose from, and a couple of my choices were standouts, in my opinion. Next were the food choices - we both ordered salads since it was later in the evening. Our server was very helpful in making suggestions for both our food and flight. The only knock for our visit at Maumee Bay Brewing Co. was the portion size of the salmon I added to my salad. It was maybe an ounce or 2, and it cost me $7. Needless to say, that was a disappointment. I didn't say anything because of it being so late in the evening. Everything else besides the tiny sample of salmon on my salad was above board. We will visit Maumee Bay Brewing more often.

Well balanced and creamy stout without exaggerated coffee or peanut butter additions.

I've only been to the Downtown Perrysburg location but have been impressed every time. They have a good variety of beers on tap that they make including some rotating seasonal selections. Not a beer drinker? They also have a full bar with specialty cocktails, wine, and NA options. I've stopped in a couple of times for a casual drink at the bar or to enjoy on their amazing summer patio area. They often have events like live music to enjoy so keep an eye out! This visit, I stopped in for brunch with friends. Their menu is smaller but has good variety and is priced well. I got the Biscuits & Gravy which had a handful of biscuits sauced in their house made gravy and topped with fluffy eggs. Delicious! My friend got the Chicken Salad Sliders which came with 3 pretzel bun sliders filled with yummy egg salad and a side option. He chose their chips which were tasty. My husband got the Chicken & Waffles. This was the most expensive but smallest portion. The sandwich itself was good and comes with a side but side options aren't listed on the menu. The entree was served on a large plate and simply looked small in size. Flavors were good but it left room for more food. Overall, this is a great, easy food and drink spot in Perrysburg. They offer their beers on tap but also some are canned for purchase in the to-go fridge. Stop out in the summer to enjoy their prime season and get a DORA cup to enjoy while walking around Downtown Perrysburg!

This was always one of my favorite spots and I appreciate the variety of establishments available and wanted to include this on my small tour of Toledo. I positioned our stop at the top of the list after a quick tour of downtown and before a visit to the Libbey Glass Outlet and the Toledo Museum of Art. The Oliver House is a historical building with a view of the Maumee River in downtown Toledo. When commissioned by Major William Oliver, renowned architect Isaiah Rogers designed a first class modern hotel and located the building in the section of downtown referred to as the "Middlegrounds". The address is 27 Broadway St., Toledo, Ohio and it is the last remaining hotel standing designed by the architect. Our lunch: combo 1/2 salad with quiche and 1/2 salad with chicken salad sandwich. $11.95 for 2- choice combo. An open, simply furnished space, like a number of breweries I've seen in strip mall spaces. If the beer is good, the rest doesn't matter that much. And the beer I had was good. Got a taste of their bock and then ordered a pint. Full bodied and carmelly without going overboard on sweetness. Tried a sample of an imperial hazy IPA called The Object and that was truly splendid. I expected a Margherita pizza with sliced tomatoes and plenty of basil, but what I got was more like a plain cheese pizza with just two chopped pieces of basil on top. The slices were folded in the container and looked smaller than they actually were. The staff didn't seem very enthusiastic when I came in to pick up my order, so I didn't feel welcomed as a new patron. The restaurant has a casual, seat-yourself bar-style vibe, which is fine if that's your style, but it didn't add much to the overall experience for me. The Pizza Passport is a great opportunity for pizza lovers to explore new restaurants or pizzerias in town. For me, I'm used to sticking with my usual spot, so it was nice to try something different and broaden my horizons, but I'm unsure if I will be returning.
