4 stars for the absolute best jalapeno poppers I have ever had. Handmade, dipped in a carnival-like batter that is greasy yet light and airy, and filled with creamy heat, they are surprisingly good. Much much better than expected. Don't get me wrong, this is a bowling alley with bar food, but the attention to detail and homemade aspects shine through in ways that leave you wanting more. Yes, some of the items were not great, like the limp fries, and the overcooked chicken chunks, but honestly, my group was overly enthused with the experience, from the food to the wonderfully welcoming service. We'll be back, definitely to eat and people-watch, but hopefully for bowling as well. (note to reader, make a lane reservation as this place gets PACKED) read more

I have been going here since I was at least 4. The waiters/waitresses are fast and quick, really nice. The food is priced pretty good, for this economy. It's really good. I once told my dad that I would kill for their fries. And the place gives off a family friendly atmosphere that is just beautiful. read more

After my golf league the guys said we're going to Forest View Lanes for dinner. I said "the fricken bowling alley?" I kid you not I pull in and the place was packed with Volleyball and people bowling. I get the menu and I was floored with the selection. They actually have a trained chef on staff and the food was proves it. Everything was homemade not pre-made garbage. I am still shocked and surprised that it was that good. I would definitely recommend trying it out. We will be back. read more

Forest view has good food. Yes, it has some bar food choices, but it does very well with more upscale choices. Staff has always been friendly and efficient. I think the biggest knock is the atmosphere.. it is in a bowling alley, but it's the best damn restaurant I've ever seem in a bowling alley! I'm surprised this place only gets 3.5 stars on Yelp. This is arguably the nicest bowling alley I've ever been to plus has a nice full restaraunt and bar that could stand alone in its own right. The place was clean, well lit, plenty of space and lanes, friendly service, reasonably priced and good margaritas served right at our table. We didn't try the food since we had plenty of Thanksgiving fare back at the house in Toledo. We did have 4 margaritas at around $5 apiece which I thought reasonable given they tasted freshly made without a mix. Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised and wishing we had places this spacious and clean in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are here for another few days so hopefully can make it back to try the food next time as the restaraunt looked really good and also quite spacious. read more

I've been coming here for years. Last night a group of 12 of us ate dinner and reserved 2 lanes for bowling. As a group we spent close to 700$. The kitchen was running behind and food took 45 minutes, not that big of a deal. The food was good. We were able to play 99% of 1 game. The lane shut off on the last bowler of the last frame. The last time I bowled there the same situation happened and was told that if it ever happens again to let them know and they would turn on the lane to finish our game. I let them know we only had one more bowler and was told that we had to reserve another hour to finish our game. We were told the lane was already reserved and that's why we couldn't finish. We all finished our drinks and 30 minutes later the lane was still empty. Food is good, good place for volleyball. Horrible place to bowl. read more

I've only been to Forrest View a handful of times but after this lash visit I'm just going to make this my new regular bowling alley. I love coming here despite the 25-30 minute drive to get there and honestly think it's worth the drive 100%. Monday-Thursday they have a $10 special for all you can bowl which is just unheard of at most bowling alleys here in Toledo where I live. The lanes are always in great shape and you have very few if any issues with the ball return/pin setter. The customer service is also superb as well as the food! Always try to hit up the bowling alley for a few fun games with the family - and this holiday season was no different. We were excited to hear about the new restaurant menu, bu unfortunately they weren't serving food until after we were done... guess that means we will just have to try the food next time. We stopped here for a round of bowling and some craft brews. It was a Wednesday afternoon during winter break for schools, so there were quite a few families with kids. We had about a ten-minute wait for a lane, but they provided a pager for convenience. The craft beers are reasonably priced and they have a good selection. We were surprised that it was $5 per game for bowling, with no discount for having your own shoes. This is higher than the average price we pay for bowling. The lane conditions were fine. Came in for dinner. We ordered the pretzel sticks for an app and they were delicious. We ordered loaded grilled cheese sandwich with frys and the Mrs got the chicken bruschetta sub with chips. First time customer. Obviously a locals area hangout meaning service at bar was questionable and slow conversations with regulars which is fine but annoying to new customers. Went in expecting a fun bowling experience (it was my first time ever going bowling and heard great reviews) and the website had said they'd be open literally until 2:30 am but we were only given 30 minutes and charged the full amount. I have always had a great experience up until the last few weeks, but recently the associates have been very rude. I went to play volleyball with my friends and two workers walked up to them and said they had to pay $5. (Which they are under 21) when it is $10 for people under 21. Food is not great for the price. Service absolutely stinks. Very slow and good luck getting a refill on your drink. You can stand at the counter and stand there and stand there and the girls are sitting back at the desk ignoring the counter. I have a mixed review full of goods and bads. Recently went in on a Wednesday night after leagues arriving around 9 pm with a group of 11 (all over 21) as a work outing. PROS: Arrived and was pleasantly surprised with the price of bowling ($8 for 2 hours including shoes AND 1 Drink.) GREAT DEAL! Happy to pay it! The lanes were good lanes to my and my co-workers standards but none of us are very serious bowlers, we were just there for a fun time. Food was excellent and super reasonably priced Drink prices were very reasonable as well. A large selection of $2-$3 drink choices AND NOW FOR THE CONS: For starters the house bowling balls could use some replacing. Not a huge deal but probably 90% of the bowling balls going down the lanes were house balls and the ones I was using about wore a hole in my middle and ring fingers. THE MUSIC! I wasn't sure when I entered downtown Toledo but according to the 10 vulgar hardcore rap songs in a row I was in the ghetto. FINALLY THE BAR STAFF: Great drink prices if it didn't take me 20 minutes to get one. The bar staff was extremely slow and I'm pretty sure the blonde bar tender with skater pants and a hoodie was high as a kite. I finally saw a waitress at the complete opposite end and flagged her down and "bribed" her telling her "I will give you $15 dollars if you come by our table every 15 minutes because we were all ordering drinks." OVERALL: We had a great time and will probably go again. And I know it was a Wednesday so probably not the "A" squad for staff but there was a lot more money to be made. read more

I'm dropping the rating of Forest View's Bar and Grill for a couple of reasons... First, the beer is still great. However, there's mass chaos around it. Some beers are only inside, some beers are only outside, different beers on the "updated" Beer Menus site than the paper print-out. Staff are still typically clueless about the beer and what they currently have. Most of the time you have to go up to the bar because waitresses here seem to never come back to your table. So, still good beer, but not a great place to drink it. read more

I am highly alarmed by the experience I had tonight, 12/27, where the employees sat us all together as a party of 7. We did not ask to be seated this way and understand Michigan COVID regulations. We were rudely told we were breaking state policy, told to personally separate the tables and food while being watched. This is as there was a party of 9 seated all together throughout their time across from us, never asked to separate. This is unacceptable treatment for a situation we never caused on top of unequal treatment to different patrons. read more

The food is very good , but I suggest eating in while you bowl. We ordered 2 salads and 4,sandwiches and were told 40 minutes for pickup. Very reasonable, put at the 75 minute mark I'm getting a little disturbed. Finally got our order , went home to find 2 items missing. Came here for a late afternoon drink and snack yesterday! Sat at the bar and ordered a thing of deep fried mushrooms and a beer. The bar tender was very friendly and helpful. She recommended the best beers, let us sample some, and even discussed fun things to do outside of town/future events being held. My bf and I both agreed that she was the nicest bar maid we'd had in a long time. The variety of beer was excellent and the beer battered mushrooms were awesome! Most restaurants/bars give u about 6 mushrooms. This place gave us an entire basket full, enough to hold us over from eating for about a while other hour! This place is the best kept secret for a craft beer bar in southern michigan and the toledo area. They really keep up with the new and best beers in michigan. Nothing close in the area period. I went in with my family on a Sunday afternoon, and was very pleased with everything. The service was quick and pleasant. We rented a lane for two hours, but with 5 people, we were only able to play 2.5 games. We wanted to finish our last game, so I inquired about paying a little extra to finish up. They were definitely willing to do that, but were having computer issues trying to get the charge right. During that time, we decided to just leave bc we had other plans. We weren't upset at all, but the employee or manager gave us some discount cards to come back with money off of games. This was totally unnecessary as we were not unhappy. Our first time here, and we had a great time with our 3-year-old daughter. It was her first time bowling, and the manager, Austin, was more than friendly, gracious and accommodating. Our server was also exceedingly friendly and efficient. The food was standard bowling alley fare, and the prices were reasonable. Plus you can't beat the package prices for bowling.
