They do not have any respect, there customer service is crap. Went in a total of 4 times over the summer in an attempt to get some major safety recalls done on my Toyota that they told me they can do, went in today (the 4th time) and was told "oh what I was told was that you already had them replaced" this was an out right lie as I whitenesses the last person I spoke to write everything down. These people are not worth waisting your time with. read more

I had an intermittent issue with my Subaru XV Crosstrek. Ignition would not release my key. Had my car brought over to my usual mechanic and they told me they could not diagnose the issue. Found out about this place when we dropped a friend off to pick up his truck and I saw that they are Subaru experts. Dropped by a couple of days later to ask if they are familiar with the issues I'm facing. The gentleman at the front counter (Jon?) was extremely helpful and explained what could be the issue. He also explained why intermittent issues are hard to diagnose. In addition to that, he took the time to print out some literature, looked up the cost of replacing suspected parts, and told me what I need to do. Which is basically keep using the car until the part truly and consistently fails, then it will be logged into the computer and they can diagnose and pinpoint the issue that needs to be fixed. Thus saving me time and money. I was nervous about not being able to get my key out and he showed me where the ignition release button was. All in all, had a good experience, and will definitely bring my car over for an oil change when it's time since they carry genuine Subaru oil filters. read more

These guys are the best! Superior customer service, quality work, fair prices, and they are trustworthy too! They were highly recommended to me by friends who were born and raised here in Ketchikan. They genuinely care about their customers and they're on your side when it comes to saving money. Drop your car off in the morning and they'll give you a ride to work! Bravo! read more

We were able to get the engine running well after removing water from one of the fuel tanks,c hanging filters several times and bleeding the system. I had a serious equipment failure with my 1998 GMC turbo diesel, while on Prince of Wales Island. It looked like an engine replacement was required. I am Canadian, and was on holidays with my RV. I had my unit barged to Ketchikan, and contacted Auto Works to explain my predicament. The guys were excellent, and felt that the problem could probably be repaired without going through the expense of replacing the motor. John met me at the freight yard and examined the vehicle. He said it could be repaired, and took care of ordering the part required, as well as arranging for the tow to his shop. All I had to do was take care of my accommodation, and juggle ferry schedules; immediate stress relief! Auto Works had my vehicle repaired and I was on the road and back home only 3 days behind my original schedule. Thanks to John, Aaron and all the folks at Auto Works for the great service! I highly recommend them for any of your vehicle repair needs. read more

It is important to me to have a personal relationship with the people who repair my cars, and I have that with the people at The Auto Works in Ketchikan. I've been taking my vehicles there for maintenance and repair for four years now. Aaron and John know my vehicles and will confer with me in detail about options for repair. They also give me guidance if I want to try to repair a vehicle myself first - they know if I'm unsuccessful, they will get the job! Their rates are competitive and I have never had a complaint about the quality of their work. They have earned my trust and I recommend them to friends without reservation. read more

The boss Aaron Shull is a very poorly skilled mechanic who has little concept of complicated machinery. He also bullies and rips off customers, I have seen this. One of his mechanics told me he often charges for fantasy work that was never completed, his invoices are fiction. This is a small community and you can't behave like that. The Auto Works has Very poor service and honesty. Charged double the original quoted $950. Also didn't do the work as agreed upon. Tried reaching Jon after work was done to discuss new engine issues and he will not return calls. read more
