Let's see what these cult fave 'dinner rolls' are all about. The history behind The Avenue Bakery is quite impressive. Upon entering, you are greeted with the oat magical journey through the history of Baltimore. It is truly something to behold / experience for yourselves. My "raison d'etre" for coming was to try these rolls everyone raves about! Okay, so here we go. 1) White Dinner Rolls - absolutely delicious!!! So happy I stopped by here to try these lil gems. I sliced a couple in half and laid them sliced side down in pan of butter to give a nice toasting. I also placed some in the oven and buttered once they came out. BOTH versions were BANGERS!!!! Yummm!!! These also come in wheat. SCORE!!! 2) Pecan pie (mini) looked delicious but I have it to a friend thy was excited when they saw it... lol. I'm sure they loved it. Presumptuous SCORE!! 3) Choc chip cookies - lacked flavor. Maybe hot/ warm, these would be better but they tasted like maybe butter wasn't used. The underside had a hardened coating like a wax or dried lard. Maybe this was a bad batch but these weren't for me. MEH! 4) Lemon Pound Cake - Now I LOVE me a lemon pound cake... any day, any week, any time but errr uhhh. This slice regretfully, was a bit dry & lacked flavor. MEH! 5) Peach Cobbler - Now THIS was a BANGER!!! When I got home, I melted some butter and sautéed the cobbler. It was BANGIN!!!! Especially when I served it hot w/ a scoop of ice cream! SCORE!! 6) Arnold Palmer - As always, this drink simply does NOT disappoint! Delicious! SCORE!! I will definitely be back for the rolls and to try a few other offerings.

My pastries wasn't fresh. They taste a day old. I got there exactly when they open up. You walk up to a service window. Maybe I should had went there later in the day when that made fresh pastries

Oh..my goodie ness!! Famous rolls, pound cake, sweet potato pie, cookies. The best of Baltimore. I wish I lived close by..this would be my everyday bakery with coffee. Mrs and Son/nephew sweetest peeps. Check them out..its worth the travel:-)

On historic Pennsylvania Avenue blocks from the birthplace of Thurgood Marshall!!! Best rolls I've had since high school!!

This place is a treasure and a strong effort of a local couple to rebuild old Historic Pennsylvania Avenue....one business at a time. I was told to go by the director of the Upton Historic District ...weeks later I go and there she is to tell me more history. The bakery is famous for Poppay's yeast rolls. Among the best I've had in years. Soft, hot with butter. I took a dozen home. They also have pastries and coffee. In summer they have jazz in their courtyard. Read the history on the walls. Nicest people ever.

I asked the server why and she had an attitude and suggested I was looking at something different. That sounds like in the mean time you should honor the price on your menu. I don't think I would come back after this because while it wasn't her fault, she was not pleasant about it at all

The coffee was good, but it felt more like a chain coffee shop than a specialty café. The syrups appeared to be standard rather than house-made, so it didn't have the craft coffee experience I was hoping for. During my visit, my iced latte had quite a bit of ice, and when the lid was put on, some of the espresso spilled over the sides of the cup. The cup was quickly wiped off and handed to me, which was a little disappointing. Overall, it's a convenient option if you're nearby and need a quick coffee, but I'd probably explore other local coffee shops first if I had the time.

When looking through the menu, I noticed the brisket panini had been removed. I asked the staff about it, but they weren't sure why it was no longer available. That sandwich was actually what I originally knew Llamas' Corner for after seeing it on TikTok, so I was really disappointed to see it gone. Hopefully they consider bringing it back! I also ordered two iced lattes, one with oat milk, boba, and caramel, and another with oat milk and pumpkin syrup. When I received them, both drinks had boba even though only one was supposed to. When I asked for the pumpkin drink to be remade, one of the baristas (the women in the pink long sweater) initially poured the same drink over and attempted to hand it back to me instead of making a fresh one (the bar was not busy or backed up btw.) When I asked for it to actually be remade, there seemed to be a bit of attitude. She did make a fresh drink after I specifically asked whether new espresso shots had been pulled. That part of the experience was disappointing and concerning because if someone asks for a drink to be remade due to an ingredient that wasn't ordered, simply pouring the same drink into another cup doesn't actually correct the issue. While boba wasn't an allergy concern for me personally, it made me wonder how a situation involving an actual food allergy would be handled.
