Bike station does good work. Prices are fair..I think sometimes people feel like a bike repair is too much because a new bike is less expensive- Walmart mentality. Components cost money and so does labor. Bike station will not rip you off, but it isnt bargain basement pricing either. All of my repairs have been done in a timely fashion...even when parts are ordered, and after a repair or a tuneup the bike feels and rides like it is brand new. read more

Confused about why this shop would have bad reviews because the employees/owner are so friendly and helpful! They helped me pick out a used bike, making sure it fit my specifications and we found one that was also priced just right. I grabbed a new seat and a lock and I was ready to go!! Not owning a bike rack (yet) the owner was able to, and kind enough, to drop the bike off at my apartment on his way home - amazing level of service, which you would NEVER find at a big box store. I really wanted to support a River Park business and a local bike shop however my experience at Avenue Bike Shop was terrible. First, I was quoted a price of exactly 125.00 from the owner over the phone. Nothing else. Second, it took me three weeks to get my bike back and this is after I called each week to hear updates and how things were going with my bike. The 3rd week I got a call back from a employee not the owner and was told the price was $210.00!! When I did finally speak to the owner he said "Oh, I said 125.00 plus labor..." They give terrible customer service by withholding prices in writing (always do a printed invoice), not calling customers back and changing prices. Third, When I got my bike back it was not fixed! It was a bumpy ride, the gears would not shift without slipping. I had to take it to another shop in Plymouth to have the back gears fixed. At the end of the day, my bike still needed additional work! You are much better off getting your bike fixed off of Craigslist, from either Joe in Plymouth or the Goshen bike shop. Yes it is further away, but they FIX your bike and charge you very little and call you back. This is not a place for good deals, as even their in store retail bikes are overpriced and need some TLC. read more

I took my bike to be serviced by their staff about a month ago for a simple tune up. It took them two weeks to spend about an hour on the job. They do not disclose prices before hand or I would have taken my bike elsewhere. I was charged $75 for the labor, plus parts(new inner tube). They did a shoddy job with the brakes(when I picked it up, the rear brakes were disengaged and had to adjust them) and within two weeks the tube they replaced was losing pressure and the rear brakes are no longer working . I found this place - like all of the other reviewers - through Groupon. I'd never heard of it and it's a little tucked away so I wasn't sure what to expect but my bike needed some help so I went for it. John was the bike guy that I worked with - I brought the bike in and he broke down what might need to be done to it to get it back in top condition and how much each individual thing would cost. I asked him some general questions because I know how to ride a bike and pretty much nothing else about the things and he was so helpful and knowledgeable, did not make me feel stupid or like I was taking up his time. It took a day to tune up my bike and do a couple of other things. It was ready exactly when promised and they even cleaned the frame up for me! Now my bike is riding much better. Not sure what's going on with this business... My bike's back tire popped and I saw some cheap prices online for this place, so I decided to try it out. I had a friend drive me because I'm a student and there isn't a place to fix bikes on campus, so it was a big deal to take a trip all the way to their location from campus. I checked the hours online to make sure they were open and even called to check, but nobody answered. The website said they were open, so we went anyway. And it was CLOSED! Even the hours on the door said it was supposed to be open. It wasn't until then that we looked at the horrible reviews on Yelp...this just makes me wonder if the place is even still in business. read more

Very helpful service person, John, who explained what was wrong, what the options were to repair my bike and do so at an affordable price. I appreciate the emphases on both quality repairs and reasonable costs. He listened to the various concerns I had and answered each one thoroughly and respectfully. Very dissatisfied with my service here. I mare an 'appointment' per Groupon for bike tune-up. Firstly so very apathetic "intake" of my bike. Promised back in THREE TO FOUR weeks. Wow... ok I accept this, as maybe Groupon has driven up business. Was called a few days after promised ready date, also was told a part had to be ordered/installed which would be an additional fee (not cleared by me, at any time)- ok, only $30 extra, maybe I can be ok with this. Upon pick-up, however, I was told that the Groupon cannot be applied unless it was accepted beforehand- apparently, I was told, the business didn't cancel their Groupon deal in time, so they've been offering them longer than they intended. I protest that I DID tell the "intake" team member that I had a Groupon and he did nothing to note this. Had to pay up. No effort at all to make this situation better by the team member. I absolutely do not trust this business, though I would LOVE to support a local "little guy." Bike is fairly well tuned, nothing AMAZING. Avoid. read more

I've visited this store on two occasions ... the first time I only wanted my back brake fixed and they turned it into an $80 job. Second time I was looking to buy a used bike with a budget of $100 and once they heard that they treated me like a bum and basically ignored me. I ended up finding a deal on on a nice Specialized mountain bike at another place. I would avoid this place - they are out of their mind of what they want to charge for junk bikes they have. read more
