Last night I took my family out to dinner and was blown away by the quality of service. My waitress was enthusiastic and handled our order well. I enjoyed the sunrise burger, I don't know what I was expecting but the burger exceeded that. My daughters ate the lemon pepper salmon and the asada tacos, neither were disappointed and there were no leftovers to be found. My compliments to the chef and the staff. I was happy to be able to eat with my daughters and enjoy their company without worrying if they liked the food or if it would take a long time to come out. I'm not the gambling type, although if you're into card games -- they have plenty here -- and poker tournaments that can be very competitive. They even offer a free buffet to the players...I think. Anyway, I've been here on occasion for a drink -- it's one of the only 2 watering holes I trust here in good ole Delano -- but I've never really sat down for food at their restaurant. I was really excited to try their food as the pictures and the reviews really make this place on par with some of the more trendy restaurants in terms of food (although, we need to ground this review of the food with the fact that the establishment resides in Delano, not necessarily the land of trendy gastropubs)...but I thought, hey, it's a worthy shot by a Delano establishment -- I'll give it a try. The food was really just meh. It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't great. It's definitely better than Perkos, but not by a giant leap. They have items on the menu that you wouldn't find at Perkos down the street and are right off the menu of a Cheesecake Factory. Take for example the Chicken Lettuce Wraps. Making your mouth water? It sure did for me when I thought of ordering it. When it arrived it was literally just sauteed chicken and romaine lettuce leaves that were pulled off the head of lettuce -- oh and a little bit of that Filipino spicy sweet and sour sauce. None of the other accouterments that come with this dish were to be found -- no julienned carrots, shredded red cabbage, peanut sauce. It was disappointing. And at $7.50, definitely not worth it. I ordered the Ruben thinking it would be the pastrami version that was made popular in Los Angeles by places like Langer's or Brent's Deli -- I mean, how can you mess up pastrami? They didn't mess it up here. In fact, they didn't have pastrami. It was a kind of corned beef/cold cut version. Not super great. We all ordered side salads -- this they did well. They have delicious dressings -- especially the balsamic dressing. Also, their garlic fries are pretty good too. They also offer a $26+ dollar Filet Mignon. We all kind of laughed when we saw it. Well, I'm very skeptical. Although I'd like to order it to see if it's really worth that much. As far as this place is concerned, I'll probably come by for more drinks -- they have 805 Blonde Ale at this place in a 20oz for $3!!! That's amazing. Food was definitely not worth the price. Fyi, I'm not a pro. I'm just a normal guy who loves to eat. I started yelping so I could help others find delicious places to eat. I'm not really the type of guy to hit casinos and/or bars so I will stick to what I know when it comes to this review. That means I'm sticking to how I feel about the food. I ordered a double cheeseburger (I think it was two 8oz patties) and I added avocado, bacon, and an over easy egg. At first I thought the runny egg would be too messy, but it wasn't bad at all. The meat was so hot and cooked perfectly. It was quality meat too, not too fatty. The bacon was delicious and gave the burger a nice crisp. I loved the cheese. I'm not sure how many slices it had, but it dripped on the side and I had a delicious time picking it off my plate and licking it off my fingers. The avocado needed about one more day to be fully ripe, but it wasn't a problem. The fries were a little too salty. The ketchup saved it though. This burger was definitely restaurant quality, but not for the price. I ended up paying about $22 for it. I guess that's somewhat reasonable for a pound of meat, but I don't feel like it was worth $22. There are times where I'll get a drive in burger for $16, and I'll feel it's worth it! This just didn't feel worth it. I can't really put my finger on it. Regardless, it was delicious. To touch on the atmosphere it's a Friday night and there are quite a bit of people here. I'm guessing this is the spot for the Delano night life crowd. There is a bald black guy telling some semi-funny jokes, the lighting is dim in the bar area, and everyone is socializing. There are also a number of tvs to keep you entertained with some pro sports. (Lakers are playing!) I don't gamble so I can't really give you any tips about the tables. I give the burger about 3 to 4 stars. The atmosphere is not bad and customer service is average. Therefore, 4 stars. read more

For a greasy spoon in the middle of Delano, the Aviator surprised me by providing a pretty great meal for a great price. I'll admit, my expectations had been set pretty low, but I was happily proven wrong. I came here with some co-workers and found the place decently busy. Unfortunately, a group of about 20 burly dudes had been seated just prior to us, which meant that service at times seemed glacial (in speed, not in temperature). Despite a friendly and helpful server, the lag does seem to be the biggest drawback here. I ordered the Captain's Club Sandwich, and was happy to see that the chicken really was tender as advertised, bacon well-done, and avocado fresh. I have been here twice. Probably never go back. If you want to wait for over thirty minutes for a drink, this is the place for you. I also did not feel very welcome here, quite uncomfortable and ended up leaving to go somewhere else to finish our evening, drove to Bakersfield. The casino only has card games and only certain ones. Don't go here looking for slot machines, etc. It's very bright inside and simply decorated. Nothing to write home about. I suppose if you are just looking for a game of poker the decor really isn't that important. Just moments after our food came to our table two of the female employees, who were just arriving for their shift, got into a fist fight. It was a quick reminder that the Aviator Casino is located in my hometown that has a small population and tempers tend to flare easily, especially with very few watering holes in town. The reason I give 3 stars is due to the fact that the food is always pretty good. I forgot to take a picture of the BYOB I ordered, due to the frenzie of the fight, but I can't really complain about the food. The fries are always delicious and the burger was made to order. This time, they were not skimping on the fish. I had three filets and they were huge. I was expecting the usual two skinny filets but I guess they were feeling quite generous. It's probably the only place in Delano where you can go get a mixed drink and a meal. Their happy hour is amazing and it's everyday! Specials on mixed drinks, beer, and some food. The food is not very good. The drinks are an awesome deal at happy hour. If you are looking for tasty food though, sad to say, this isn't the place. I'm an avid poker player and visit all over California. First, I look to see if a poker casino has decent tournaments. This one promotes tournaments, but I have been frustrated that at least 50% that I show up to play are cancelled for lack of players. I understand that there is a period of time to build interest, but I lose interest waiting for that to happen. Money tables: Too many house players playing in teams. That's a set up for going broke fast. It's too difficult to figure out is and when the tables are likely to be filled by non-staff players. Had to wait too long for no-limit play on more than one occasion. Staff: VERY FRIENDLY. Loved chatting. Loved talking with the management. I hope to see the place fill up so I can hang out more often. Table games: I occasionally enjoy playing Ultimate TH and Blackjack if I have a few dollars to lose. The play is nice on those tables... Food: Yes, it is the best in town! Very reasonable. Environment: Loved it. Looking for good eats in Delano? Look no further- the casino's got ya covered. Service is always good- flew in for breakfast a while back and got there a bit before 10. The casino was swingin but the restaurant wasn't serving yet. The manager actually had the kitchen fired up early for us! Last stop was on a random Wednesday - which happens to be steak night. For $16, you get a 16 oz New York with all the trimmings- and it's no carne asada, either. Good cut of beef, and the cook knows how to grill a steak. Be careful playing poker here. They have a Schill (paid player in civilian clothes) that always sits at seat 8. Pretty hard to beat the guy so be careful when he's in the hand. Casinos need to disclose this if when asked. Some casinos use these guys to make sure the table doesn't break but this casino uses the guy to take all your chips and gives them back to the casino. The $4 rock straddle just makes this situation worse so I'd choose not to play with it to even out the playing field. Last thing this shark needs is a free hand that he usually wouldn't play. Other than the scam it's a decent place just really hard to win at poker there. I'll never go back and I'll never play a place with one table again. My husband and I were having a great time until the mariachi started practicing and singing and we couldn't hear the comedians anymore. So we left early. I ordered the calamari and quac appetizer and they were not good. The calamari was to tough and the quac had no flavor. I ordered chicken tacos and they had no flavor not even the salsa and it looked like tacos for a kid because it didnt have much chicken on them.
