It's a good place to go to when you can't find a starbucks and you fancy a chai latte (very herbal tea with milk). The one in Castlebar is very messy and they seem to be understaffed, no matter when and how many people are around. The tables are always full of leftovers...

When you are a sandwich place there is a lot of competition, so you need to have good service too if you want to make it. I went there with my boyfriend and after ordering and paying we sat down to eat our food. There were maybe 3 more people in the shop, all minding their own business, some reading the paper. I put my arm around my boyfriend's neck and was smiling and telling him something when the owner came over to tell us it was "inappropriate" behaviour and it was not that kind of place and we should stop. This was deeply humiliating as neither of us are teenagers anymore, we were not even kissing, no one was paying us absolute any mind and it has never, ever happened to either of us before. But most galling is that we were about a third of the clientele in the place, and making us so uncomfortable as to leave for something so petty was unbelievably bad business. I have no idea what the management is thinking. Nothing like this has happened to me before or since, and I would advise against go to a place where the owners are so strict and hellbent on squashing any demonstration of happiness or affection, regardless of how bad it may be for business. Avoid.

Fresh and healthy superfood salads, juices, dairy free sweet treats, daily hot specials, 3fe coffee and teas - all offered with dairy free milk options. I had the superfood salad of massaged kale, chickpeas, and spiced cous cous (with cranberries, pomegranate and pesto) for lunch. For €7.50 it filled me up for the day and is far more exciting then the dull packaged leaves and uninspiring dash of olive oil salads you get in other establishments. These salads ARE the dish, not just a bit of green on the side - they demand your attention and don't disappoint on taste! Less than a 5 minute stroll from O'Connell St, in the summer it'd be lovely to get a salad to go at lunch time and eat it along the riverside. I imagine the menu will expand as the business does, as chef-cum-proprietor Carolanne is Ballymaloe trained and well travelled! They maintain an active social media presence @sweetbeatsligo and already have a loyal following of customers - including me! Watch this space, as it expands into something brilliant, its thrilling to see young businesses like this bringing the heart back into Sligo town.
