Done with this place. Picked up bagels recently and was eating one in my car when I found a hair twisted in to my bagel topping (onion). It was a short hair (5 inches long mine is long so it wasn't mine.) The place is really dilapidated. You can't see the staff over the counter. Also, I was charged $18.68 for a medium flavoured cream cheese and returned it upon learning the price. That's crazy. I emailed to confirm whether this is the price or it was an error and no reply. Also I sometimes don't feel well after eating the bagels. Not the same as the Montreal ones. Finally, the staff are depressive: are they okay or being treated well? I was in the area and my friend brought me here and it was really good! It seems a bit pricey and the bagel themselves were a little small, but I had the Italian and it was very tasty. The bagels are fresh and you can see them making them daily. Staff was nice. I would say worth a try :) read more

Came here while on a trip to Toronto. This place is open 24/7 and has a variety of bagels. I got the lox and cream cheese on an everything bagel. It was absolutely delicious and fresh. They also have a variety of drinks available. The workers are super quick and kind. read more

Had a serious preggo craving for bagels - literally in the middle of the night during a bout of pregnancy insomnia. Was pleasantly surprised to see the Bagel House pop up at 4am on Uber Eats! I almost ordered then but waited until a more decent hour in the morning so as the delivery drop off at our apartment would not wake my sleeping husband lol. I decided to order a few items, choosing six bagels (three everything, three sesame), two toasted bagels (one pumpernickel with spinach/feta cream cheese for me and one everything with herb/garlic for hubby), one spinach knish, one cinnamon puff and a little tub of dill cream cheese as well. My order arrived quickly and was nicely packaged. While I wished my bagel was a bit more toasted, it was tasty and really hit the spot. Bae enjoyed his bagel too. The cinnamon puff was good, maybr a bit dry but really best with some coffee. The spinach knish was yummy, I heated it up for a bit before eating which was the right thing to do. The bagels themselves were dense, chewy and tasted super fresh. Loved the dill cream cheese, so good. Will for sure order from here again soon! read more

Christmas Day everything was closed :( I really wanted to eat a good breakfast that morning as I am driving around all I kept seeing was everything closed I was starting to lose hope until, there it was THE BAGEL HOUSE! YAY i was so happy it was open I couldnt wait to eat a good deli bagel sandwich. I found the staff working on shift that morning to be friendly quick and efficient overall my experience was great and the food was delicious. The Bagel House Opens 24 hours! Now if we have more places that opens 24 hours! Not that I will wake up at 3 AM and have a craving for Bagels... but you never know.. I do wake up in the middle of the night have cravings of a lot of things. But having an option knowing that you can find something that is open beside that 24 hour MacDonald.. that is all good to me! The Bagel House makes the traditional Montreal bagel baked in front of me in a wood-fired stove! Now I know how fresh my bagels are!! The bagel dough includes egg and honey. Honey is also added to the water used for poaching the bagels before baking. Love the poppyseed ones.. yes it is infested with poppyseed and oh how they all stick to my teeth.. is someone playing a practical joke on me again?? The Salami bagel is more salami than bagel... But I think I rather has the bagel with butter or just a touch of cream cheese.. so I can really taste it in their purist form......... This place used to be my old go to place for a fresh bagel fix as they are open 24 hours and was within driving distance when I lived in that area. Its hard not to appreciate a fresh baked item. Things haven't changed though due to construction I didn't see the oven. I got my trusty sesame bagel, buttered toasted and with a nice dollop of liver. My friend had the pumpernickel toasted, buttered and with a slice of cheddar. They do have some other gourmet items as well like jams etc. All in all a good way to get your bagel fix at a very reasonable price. 3.5 Stars. read more

Montreal style bagels baked in a wood oven available 24/7? Nice! If you have ever been pregnant or married to someone who was pregnant you will appreciate the availability of carbs late at night. This is my first time trying Montreal style bagels and there are a number of differences from the ones I'm used to in California. These bagels are smaller, thinner and much sweeter. I prefer the soft, chewy and doughy kind of bagel. Staff was patient while I tried to decide what to try from among their many, many choices. I bought 2 plain bagels toasted with salmon cream cheese on one and sun-dried tomato on the other. They were generous with the cream cheese which I enjoyed immensely. Late at night this place becomes a hang out for elderly men sitting around chatting enjoying their coffee and bagels, the younger crowd takes their orders to go. The bagel house has some decent bagels and sandwich options, they're fluffy and made fresh right in front of you. If you're looking for gourmet bagels then you won't find that here. These guys are open 24/7 which is pretty great, so obviously I wanted to head down at midnight to see if the quality is the same.... and they didn't let me down. I ordered a bagel with cream cheese with salmon, capers and onions. Not bad, but I probably won't order the salmon next time. It shouldn't take away from the fact that they're pretty close to the MTL Bagel house minus the 6 hour drive. read more

Very good bagels. I like the fact that they have Montreal bagels which are good. Not as good as NYC bagels but still very delicious. The bagels are fresh and the ones that I've eaten have been fresh out of the oven. No need to toast it because once you bite into it, the dough just melts in your mouth. But the best part is that they are open 24 hours so when you are hammered and have that bagel craving (usually not that often for me but it does happen) then The Bagel House is the place to go. read more

This House of Bagels has a few other Baked Goods of interest but I have to say that because of the queue and the setup of this shop, it takes some getting used to especially for first-time customers. The Bagels and order-taking are in the back and the Bagels themselves are hidden behind the people lining up and kids climbing on the display to get a look. I knew I wanted Bagel with Cream Cheese($2.75) but it's more than just that. First you will be asked WHICH Bagel and I had barely time to look as I could feel the breath of the Man behind me while the Kids hid my selection. Twisted. Choice I remembered in Bob Blumer's Punishment. I also got the Hungarian Salami($4.49) on Sesame(Plain) Bagel. Tomato($0.25) and Cucumber($0.25) were added and was asked if I wanted Mayonnaise or Mustard. Me: Mayonnaise please. BH: Mayonnaise? Me: Yes. 10 seconds later, forgets my choice and asks again... BH: Mustard? Me: Sure, whatever. (I just want eat) Montreal style Bagels done at this place are enjoyable and less doughey dense than Tim Hortons. While BUSY, this place becomes slightly confused but the queue within 10 minutes of our order disappeared altogether. Best to out-wait the queue so you can make better decisions and the staff can do a better job on your order. What bothered me was I realized Cream Cheese($1.40) spread here cost more than the lone Bagel($1.35) itself. I suggest you but one Bagel and one with Cream Cheese. SPLIT the Cream Cheese one in half and put one half onto the PLAIN one. Voila! 2 Cream Cheese Bagels($2.05) compared to ($2.75). read more

Bought bagels and knishes, went home to eat them and large mould in the knishes. When I bought them, I inquired if they were baked that morning, and the counter lady said yes. I brought them back a few hours later and while I got a refund, my Saturday morning breakfast with my children was ruined. Do not go and buy their food!! I'm originally from Montreal and we know our bagels. When I move to Toronto, I gave up on bagels sine they all seemed to be "pregnant bread". Well, I found the bagel house and WOW! I can enjoy my Montreal bagels again. they don't have that sweet Fairmount or St Viateur Bagel but very very close. This is a place to buy your bagels and bagel toppings and enjoy at home. I was looking for breakfast while walking up Avenue, and I thought maybe I should try a small business instead of a franchise. I ordered the poppy seed breakfast sausage bagel, and I was appalled to see them cook the egg in the microwave! Just blast it in there! The sandwich was just bland and oily! Got the cinnamon roll pastry, and it was miserable to eat. Very dry and stale. In all, I'm happy I tried this place because now I now there's nothing special behind those doors. read more

Bagel house used to be the first spot I wanted to go for late-night food: the BLT was something to die for. But a few months ago, this place changed their bacon to the pre-made kind instead of the beautiful flavorful bacon they used to stock. The bagels are still usually great - they are the ones that opened me up to bagels beyond yucky Tim Hortons - but it's just not the same. This is the location to get your bagels, and they are open 24 hours a day!!! The other bagel house locations seem to over proof the bagels, and they become lighter, and larger. The simply sesame are the original style, but they are all good, my niece and nephew like the mini bagels, which are good. Gotta love the Montreal-style bagels!! They're made fresh 24 hours a day - so no matter how early you start your day, you can run in and grab breakfast lunch and dinner to go. Location is convenient on the way downtown so stopping in for a quick bagel(s) to go. Yum yum! One of the only Montreal style bagel shops in Toronto! Their sesame bagels are to die for. I just eat them fresh, as is.. Toasting is not necessary. On busy Avenue Road, parking isn't the greatest. I recommend parking on the side street and running in to get yourself a dozen. Don't be fooled by the small shriveled up looking bagels, they aren't dense or heavy. Don't settle for Tim Horton's bagels, you gotta try these! read more

I've been to Saint Viateur in Montreal, and these bagels are very similar - a tiny touch sweeter. I actually like these better, but personal tastes may vary. Far from stellar service at this locations. The bagels I ordered were all deformed and horribly difficult to cut. Not to mention the buffoon who served me didn't tie a knot on the bag therefore causing some of the bagels to become hard and dry; but I guess that is partially my fault since I should've checked. read more

Staff are incompetent. They generally don't undertand the orders as they are placed and they are not familiar with their own product. The staff are slow and disorganized and a simple purchase becomes a frustrating ordeal. Routinely they give you the older, less fresh bagels even when fresher ones are being baked and taken out of the oven. It is almost as if the criteria for being hired is failing an IQ test. Not much redeeming about this location. read more

Bagels are good. The fresher the better. Hours are good (actually - outstanding). Not sure about their other stuff. Eat them straight out of the bag, or with cream cheese, or bring 'em home and add smoked salmon from Costco. read more
