Her experience as a professional ballerina and training as a massage therapist lend anatomical knowledge. Wednesdays Sam's classes are faster paced but often feature a stretch session, and are are always fun. Katie's Saturday morning pointe/prepointe is a wonderful workout benefiting greatly from Katie's academic and expereicntial credentials. It is very strengthening also for students not yet on pointe due to all the footwork and relevés, as well as laser focus on correct placement. Pam's classes challenge both fitness and ability to catch on quickly to choreography--exhilerating! Now Coco teaches a new Friday evening class. I've been wanting to get back into ballet since dancing as a kid. This studio is great in that it specializes in teens and adults. I've been taking Katie's class and she's great! Undoubtedly one of the best decisions I have made as an adult. The Ballet from the Beginning series is absolutely fabulous. Heidi is a phenomenal instructor who pays close attention and gets to know her students and how they move. This class is a thorough introduction to classical ballet and gets you prepared if you do decide to continue dancing and join in on their more advanced courses. I have been going to The Ballet Studio since 2017. It has always been a welcoming place for EVERYBODY: ALL ages, skill levels, physical ability, you name it. The teachers all very knowledgeable, patient, good humored and with different styles of teaching, which is very useful, because we get different perspectives. I take 6 hours of ballet every week: 4 hours of technique and 2 of stretching. The other day I noticed how every one of us is getting into shape after the pandemic. It is a great workout, our technique is getting better and we are having fun. Tuition is very reasonable and, Vaughn, the owner, bless her heart, keeps the air conditioning working in summer and the heat in winter. That, I am told, is a real plus! read more

I have always dreamed of learning ballet, and now at 22 yrs old, I can! This studio is fantastic in encouraging and improving the technique of everyone. I have a few serious body injuries which can affect my range of motion and flexibilty and this studio is really accomodating. They do not put pressure on flexibilty and really focus that you are getting the technique down the best your body can do. Okay, I normally don't do reviews but I had to on the Ballet Studio. I really can't say enough good things about this place and Heidi!!! I did ballet as a child and then picked up classes again in college, but it's been a good 6, almost 7 years since then. It's been a long search and some sporadic classes here or there, but nothing felt right until I came to this place. Let me just say: I am sold. Ten times over. It's my happy place. I love that I can take it twice a week for my class level and would do it more if they were available. I still like doing the ballet from the beginning class occasionally, just to have more time to work on technique. Even if you've had ballet before, that's not a bad level to start at. It's definitely slow in the first few weeks, but it really helps you make sure you don't cheat your way through based on muscle memory alone. All you have to do is brave the leotard. It sounds scary (unless you're like 12), but it's really not. Not once have I felt any judgment here and everyone is busy concentrating on their own bodies and Heidi's constructive tips to notice much else. And there's bound to be someone your age range there, whatever that may be, based on the classes I've been to. Back to Heidi -- she is so sweet and patient, it's unbelievable. (Note, this is not code for saying she goes easy on you. She notices everything and you will undoubtedly improve in her classes.) Almost as unbelievable as her ability to remember every single person's name. Personally, I have a hard time remembering the names of people I come in contact with at work the first 3-5 times I meet them, so color me impressed. Anyway, if you have any doubts still, you can come in yoga pants and a form fitted top for the first class if you want to get a feel for things before you commit. Totally worth it, especially if you find the idea of running in place at a gym about as fun as root canal. This is much more like sitting at the end of a rainbow eating a bowl of lucky charms while watching little leprechauns frolic through the fields. In a sweaty, I just got my a*# kicked and loved every second of it, kind of way. in sum: it's so worth the (reasonable) cost if you brave the nervousness of getting back into it, or learning ballet for the first time. read more

I have to say I'm very impressed with this studio. I used to dance, a lot. Its has been about 8 years and 50 lbs later and it is scary going back in to class! But not scary here. Heidi spent about 40 minutes on the phone with me and answered every question I asked her (I was being a wee-bit high maintenance). Since I no longer owned dance clothes and shoes, Heidi GAVE me a pair of tights and let me borrow a pair of shoes until I was able to purchase some. I am really impressed with the caliber of her teaching. She is very careful of her students bodies (not something you often find while teaching adults). The classes are very technique oriented (great if you are getting back into dance after an absence). The other participants are really nice and welcoming as well (no snotty ballet attitude here). My only critique would be the classes that I have taken (beginning classes only) are not very dancey. You don't get to do a lot of combinations but that may be different of other classes (the more advances classes). I am super happy here! read more

Furthermore, she also gets to know you individually. I definitely enjoyed the way she taught us that I looked forward to coming to class each week! I have been going to the Ballet Studio for a few months now and I really enjoy Heidi's adult ballet classes. I drive 25-30 min one way to attend, even tho there are other studios closer to me. I feel like I'm learning a lot here and you get a lot of one on one feedback and assistance even in a room full of 15-20 dancers. The actual room where the class takes place is spacious, clean and always full of eager ppl wanting to better themselves in the art of ballet. Heidi is a great instructor who tries to give you confidence even when you feel like you're doing absolutely terrible lol. She makes the class enjoyable. read more

In pre-ballet you build from the ground up learning forms and postures that will be the building blocks for the ballet classes. Really good for a fun and interesting weekly exercise that really pushes you but also teaches you something new. read more

My daughter's were starting ballet again after a 4 year absence so they were consider behind. The instructor was great, very patient, and she got the up to speed right away. The class is small so there a lot of one on one attention without having to request private classes. Much better and more affordable than the dance studios downtown. read more

I was surprised this place didn't have any more reviews despite how awesome it is! I went in to try ballet for the first time (showed up a wee bit late) and from the moment I stepped in Heidi was so wonderful! The class itself had maybe 7 or 8 students at most and she made sure to give us each individual attention throughout the class. I can't wait to go back next time! This place is excellent. I had no prior experience and started taking ballet classes here 3 and half years ago as an adult beginner student in my mid 30s and yes the initial classes are slower because you are learning the actual art form of ballet. Proper alignment is stressed by all the instructors, really important when you no longer have the resilient body of an adolescent so as not to get injured. Heidi is so patient and nurturing and Sam has a great class on Sundays that is both challenging and fun! I Highly recommended this dance studio! Oh and I am always amazed at how Heidi does this but she remembers every single students name no matter how long they have been coming there, if you've taken a class with her she remembers your name. Heidi is an amazing teacher - patient, generous with her knowledge and time, and non-judgmental. The Intro class is progressive - so it builds on the previous class all the while reinforcing what you've learned, to improve your technique and confidence. I had zero dance experience and have learned so much. It's a great class to improve your flexibility and balance. An encouraging and "safe" place to be an adult in a leotard! I've attended classes at several different adult ballet studios, and Heidi is the best instructor I've ever had. She demonstrates clearly how to perform a ballet step/movement, and she is generous with her time and attention when it comes to correcting us to help improve our ballet abilities. I'm over 50 and I have two artificial hips. Heidi is a knowledgeable and caring instructor, and she treat me as I am a promising budding ballerina. This is a wonderful studio for children and adults. As an adult I'm particularly cognizant of the fact that few studios have classes for adults. Some have beginning classes but very few have intermediate/advanced level classes. At this studio there are daytime adult classes 3 days a week and evening classes 5 times a week. There are different teachers each with her own style but all are excellent. They never push you to try things that aren't safe for your body but at the same time they provide good instruction and corrections that allow you to improve. Many studios will tolerate your presence but the corrections are usually given to the young dancers who have the potential of a career in dance. The atmosphere is very welcoming. A new person is usually introduced to everyone..something I've never observed at any other studio. So, plump, thin, out-of-shape, whatever, you are all welcomed at this place read more

I am so glad that I researched a bit and found the Back to Basics Beginning Ballet class at The Ballet Studio. Heidi is the best ballet teacher ever! I have never seen a teacher who is so good at explaining and demonstrating the steps. She has the uncanny ability to break the steps and movements down so that you can actually learn them correctly. And she gives one on one feedback and attention so that you know if you are executing the steps correctly. She uses and explains the French terminology for the movements and reviews what you have learned after each class. My daughter and I have been at the studio since October and are really enjoying t tremendously. It is a down-to-earth working studio with real people who are there to seriously study ballet. I cannot say enough about how wonderful Heidi's teaching is and how I feel I have improved so much with her as my teacher. So glad I found The Ballet Studio!!! read more
