Everything about this place is wonderful. Most importantly to me, the instructors are just the absolute sweetest, funniest, most inspiring people. Alysia and Kat, who own the studio, are not only some of the best fitness instructors around, but are also some of the best people around. The workout is killer and it really leans your body out. This place helped me lose 40 pounds for my wedding and I was thrilled with the way I looked. Finally, the community is pretty great, too. The Studio City Bar Method is easily the best one around. Owners Kat and Alysia go out of their way to make you feel welcome no matter what your skill level may be. Even in a packed class they make sure to offer personal corrections. I have been addicted to Bar Method for over six months and they are, by far, the best teachers I've come across. I look forward to coming to class each day and always leave feeling stronger and empowered. (And my favorite part about Bar Method is that it NEVER gets easier!) I have been doing Class Pass since March, and Bar Method is the first studio I tried, and by far my favorite! So much so that I have class pass on hold for the month so I can do the unlimited membership during their May challenge. All of the instructors are great, and give lots of feedback and good corrections. It's a challenging workout in a beautiful studio with tons of free underground parking. There are no downsides here. Bar Method is so satisfying, physically - you really feel great for the rest of the day because of the work you did in class. I was always shy about taking exercise classes, but Bar Method is perfect because everyone focuses so hard on their form and themselves, that you don't have any time to feel self-conscious. I have taken Bar Method at many studios across the country, and this is my favorite! It is beautiful and clean and inviting. As soon as you walk in you can really feel the pride and love the owners have for their business. The instructors give the clients a lot of one on one attention and encouragement, and even though the classes all follow a similar format, every one feels unique. The instructors are very aware of each client's individual growth, strengths and weaknesses. I've done a lot of different types of exercise..crossfit, spin, boxing, trx, etc and nothing has changed my body like Bar Method with such low impact! My knees, wrists, and ankles thank me. Amazing teachers who remember your name and make sure you have proper form during your workout! This is a great place to get focused and fit. My friend dragged me to my first class in December and I've been a total addict ever since. Always a night owl, I am now an early riser because I gotta get my bar on at 8:30 AM. The instructors are so amazing. I have been taking bar method classes for about 7 years (5 years at Studio City location) and I love both the result I see in my body and the community. Very clean studio and great instructors. Needless to say, while I continued taking classes through their live streams during COVID shut down, I couldn't wait to get back in the studio. I am so glad they have opened back up again and very impressed by all the new protocols they are following to ensure the safety of their clients. As you enter the studio, there are markers on the floor so everyone can keep the 6 feet distance. You get your temperature checked with a hand-free and wall mounted thermometer before taking class. You will take your belongings with you to class as you can no longer use the lockers to reduce cross-contamination and crowding in the locker rooms. The class sizes have been reduced so you can keep 6 feet distance and everyone stays at their station during class. You will bring your own towel and they wipe down all the weights and props used after every class. The door to the outside patio is open during class to allow air circulation. When class is over, the instructor dismisses the class one person at a time to keep social distance. I really feel safe going to bar method classes, probably way more than an actual gym class such as cycling or zumba! read more

This is the best barre for beginners and seasoned alike. Pure barre and cardio barre is like barre on speed, they move so quickly and there's very little attention paid to your form. Most of the time I'm not sure I'm doing the correct exercise and I've been doing barre for over a year. Bar method is conducted at an appropriate speed and incredible attention is paid to your form by the instructors- I can't stress how great and important that is. Also important, Kat and the other teachers learn your name immediately and give you encouragement during the class. Some people don't sweat, but I always did during the leg section as my giant thigh muscles were being burned/slimmed down. You burn out your arms, abs, legs and ass. I was noticeably slimmer after 1 month. The studio is very nice and clean, the cleanest I've seen. And the teachers take each others' classes which I think is great. It saddened me to move and switch to one of the aforementioned barre classes closer to me where I find myself 'going at my own pace' and trying different teachers to see who's the least bitchy.... read more

My mom and I have been coming here for almost two years after the location closer to us closed. They have a great schedule, with some 45 minute classes also, so you can find the times that work best for you. It's always a good workout, with lots of adjustments if you need to make the moves more challenging, or work with an injury. Everyone is friendly, and the space is clean, with cubbies with locks, and enough parking on the complex. People of all ages and skills come to the classes, and if you're a beginner they really make sure to adjust your form to make sure to prevent injury and that you're getting the best workout possible. The only con would be that sometimes the weekend classes are pretty crowded, but you just gotta get there early enough. read more

I've always loved bar method, but when I moved to Sherman Oaks this past Spring, I was very disappointed to find out that there was no Bar Method in the area. Bar Method Studio City opened this past fall 2014 and I am elated! The studio is beautiful--clean and brand new. Parking is easy and free in the larget studio city place. Kat and Alysia are both excellent teachers--super nice and very attentive. Bar Method is known for their emphasis on form and these two girls definitely won't let you get sloppy! read more

First time trying any sort of bar workout, so I was a little nervous. I've gone twice now and it is GREAT. Positives: - Super welcoming staff - makes you feel at home and comfortable, which is helpful for a first-timer - Clean, beautiful facility - enjoyable to be in, the locker room is nice, convenient lockers with keys - Happy customers - not that any studio can control this, but happy customers means the workouts are enjoyable and its a pleasant environment - Instructors - my schedule has so far allowed me to take Kat's classes, she is wonderful! Attentive on form, refers to people by name, challenging and motivating. She helped us feel at ease the first time we went, and remembered me when I came the following day. I haven't had a chance to take classes from anyone else, but I'm sure they'd be just as great. One instructor was taking the class I went to today - made it feel like she was really invested. - workout - incredibly challenging. The moves are simple and easy to understand, but very difficult to do. It's also great that the better form you have, the harder it is (meaning you can't really get too used to the workout). Modifications were available for those who needed more challenge or less, so this workout is really great for anyone. - Newcomer rates - they have rates for newcomers to try it out for a little cheaper. I ended up buying a month package, which is awesome to get me used to the schedule. The staff mentions these in a non-confrontational way, making it feel less like a hard sell that you usually get at gyms. - website - easy to access and use. You make reservations online and attend those classes (which is awesome with not talking yourself out of class - since there's a penalty for missing a reservation - and ensuring the room isn't too crowded). The penalties may feel like a negative, but logistically they are essential AND it helps us out in the long run to keep up with our exercise. Something to consider - - price. While it (bar workout in general) is a more expensive option than some other exercise options, you really pay for what you get. Motivating staff and community, personal attention and an enjoyable - yet challenging - workout. I don't know how this specific bar facility compares in price to others, but I can imagine it is worth every penny. I really enjoyed my experience at Bar Method Studio City and will definitely be recommending it to friends (or random strangers on the street)! read more

This studio is amazing. I've taken every kind of bar class: cardio barre, pure barre, etc but Bar Method is by far the best. I started last year and have been hooked. Kat, Alysia, Caroline, Alison and Courtney are so encouraging, sweet, funny and incredibly knowledgeable. The Bar Method in Studio City has become my workout family full of positive ladies who are all working hard at being a better you. I started the first day in the first class that the studio opened and i've been consistent ever since. I don't think i've ever stuck with a style of workout longer and i think thats truly a testament to the work out itself, but also the amazing teachers who are motivating and encouraging every step of the way. I LOVE Bar Method Studio City and you will too! I had taken barre classes elsewhere and did not like the overcrowded classes and lack of personal attention. When Bar Method opened in Studio city in September I was excited to check it out. And it exceeded all of my expectations. First, Alysia and Kat (the owners and instructors) are extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic and NICE! All of the instructors (Alysia, Kat, Caroline and Alison) are very helpful and encouraging. Second, the space is clean and stylish and there is PARKING! The studio has showers, towels and lockers with keys so you don't have to worry about storing your stuff while you work out. There are also hairdryers, shampoo and conditioner in the locker rooms. They've thought of everything to make it easy for you if you have somewhere to go after your workout. Third, the community is amazing! You get to know everyone in your classes which helps to keep you motivated. I started working out after having two kids and a two year break from exercise. Alysia, Kat and the community have really provided a SAFE and SUPPORTIVE place for me to get back into shape. I am addicted to Bar Method Studio City! Sarah is the worst teacher, I have ever had in my many years of working out with a trainer. All the other teachers there are terrific, but they need to get rid of Sarah. I've been doing The Bar Method for five years and I have been at the Studio City location since it opened. The owners (Kat and Alysia) and fellow instructors are the best - welcoming, funny, tough, and motivational. The workout has improved my posture, kept my legs strong, and my lower back pain free. I started going to Bar Method Studio City based on a recommendation from one of my best friends. I could not be happier. I, like a lot of folks, have done all sorts of group exercise in my life, and this one has proven to be my favorite. I feel stronger, leaner and healthier. It's no impact, so I am not afraid of any kind of ankle or knee pain (both of which I am prone to when I run.) I feel completely taken care of by all of the teachers there because they pay special attention to good form. Alysia and Kat have created a beautiful space that has absolutely spurred me to be a regular attendee (even at 7AM!) There's a lovely sitting area with coffee, tea and lemon water. There are fresh towels and a spotless locker room. And most of all, there is the spirit of encouragement, guidance and healthy beauty that infuses the studio and inspires me to keep coming back. I was looking forward to trying The Bar Method for the first time today. Through Class Pass I had the opportunity to do so. When I walked in the receptionist basically ignored me but the instructor who was there warmly introduced herself. The receptionist told her, not asked, to show me around since I had never been before. I found out during my quick tour that socks were mandatory. I normally have a pair in my bag but I quickly found that I brought the wrong bag. The instructor told me that they sell socks at the front. They are $13. When I already have 3 pairs of socks at home I wasn't going to buy another pair, which I told the instructor. All she said was sorry. I walked back up to the unfriendly receptionist who characteristically ignored me standing there and answered the phone. I stood there until she was done with the call and shared my plight with her. She basically rolled her eyes at me as if I was an idiot for not having socks and brashly offered up the $13 socks or I could down to Marshall's to buy a pair. Then she turned away from me. As I stood there looking at her in silence, she acted as if I wasn't still standing there. I said to the back of her head are there any exceptions and she bluntly said no. It is because of this unwelcoming, uncaring and rude behavior I will not go back and I will not be trying The Bar Method. I mean it was my fault for not knowing that I didn't have my socks with me but I'd rather take the late cancelation charge from Class Pass then to patronize a place that clearly could care less.
