Went to the Studio City, California Millennium Dance Complex because my friend was in town and her dance group had sessions there. Walking in the space is full of awesome neon and framed photos of the many celebrities that have had dance rehearsals. Like Janet Jackson, Katy Perry, Jake Gyllenhaal, Shawn Mendes and a whole lot of others. The reception desk had to cool ladies that helped us and a guy doing an onsite video learn more about the dance complex including the for dance spaces and the famous red neon sign that people know. You can walk in and see if you can take a class for $23. That is a great deal! We watch through little square cut outs in the wall of a dance class. So cool! read more

Do not let the reputation of this studio fool you. The physical condition of the space is concerning and frankly unsafe -- exposed insulation hanging from the ceiling, excessive dust buildup on fans, leaking ceilings, distinct smell of mold and some electrical outlets not even secured into the walls. This isn't just about cleanliness -- it's about health and safety. Dancers are breathing heavily in this environment, and no one should be expected to train in a space like this. I rented a studio to rehearse a ballet routine with a couple children I teach on Sunday at 3 PM and the young lady checking us in was dropping "F bombs", so I said "there are children present". She just looked at me and my student and kept on with the business of her day. It was apparent that she had no respect for myself or the 10 year old by my side. I asked her name she said B. Only giving me an initial. I'm sure she new her customer service was poor and didn't want me to know her full name. You might want to think twice before you bring children into Millennium, Perhaps it's better suited for adults. read more

I'm torn about this place. I'm rating it high because the choreographers are world class and you can't really find better dance routines than here, but the environment here is just so cutthroat. I've been to many dance studios and this one is by far the hardest one for me to make friends at. I find that everyone is so biased based on how many followers you have on Instagram. The classes are great but the clientele culture is not really my cup of tea. Most of the classes feel kind of like a mini audition, so that may or may not be off putting to some people. The studio itself has a wide variety of classes you can take (its not so beginner friendly to my knowledge though). Millennium's companion app is pretty neat and very easy to use. Signing up for classes is quick and easy. I do find that the classes tend to be on the over crowded side so its hard to find a prime location that has a view of the mirror (come to class extra early if you can). A big plus for Millennium is that they do offer a lot of night classes. I always find it difficult to find proper adult classes where I'm from, so these night classes are kind of a God send. I say, if you're from out of town and visiting, Millennium is a great place to visit, but as far as taking classes here on the regular, it can be really tough on your self-esteem. read more

I can only hope to be half as good a dancer as him someday. Hip hop with Coby: he has a different style from Pete and probably from any other instructor, but his style kinda works for me. If I could give this studio zero stars I would!!! I dropped my daughter off on a Saturday to take a class at 5:15 pm with Kelly. I was told that they couldn't find her name on there site so I pulled up the app and the girl name Julieta started pushing on my phone and logged me out of the app and told the other young lady to help me because her English wasn't good. So when the other girl started helping the Julieta girl came back around and was just being argumental with me the entire time and I asked if she could give me a second so that I could figure out what email and password I had used to log into my account. She then stuff by a small corner office rolled her eyes and shouted out that there's cameras and would I like for her to call the owners ??? I was so confused I asked her again can she give me a second and then she started saying " what did I do???" Your going to tell me right now with a high demanding voice. I then said please my daughter and her friend is here please stop arguing with me and she went on and on and then made it a culture thing by saying you don't understand me because I'm Latin and I said really??? I'm also Latin and started speaking to her in Spanish and asked her kindly again to please stop speaking to me in that tone my daughter is here and if we can pleas le talk about it after she goes into class!!! Nope she continued on and on then finally the cashier told me well "how about this let's stop talking" so wait who treats a parent so rudely in front of there 12 year old child??? I remember the first class I took here was taught by Shane Sparks...that in itself makes me realize just how long ago it was since I first stepped into this iconic dance studio back in 2006. I had taken some time off but came back to the world of dance, making Donyelle's 'Hip Jazz' class an escape on Monday and Wednesday early afternoons. The stretching part kills me, but the combination at the end makes up for everything. I remember she taught us a great routine to 'Butterflies' by Michael Jackson, literally a week before his passing. That routine was a favorite of mine as well as the rest of us. My class had a variety of levels, from those who have been dancing since conception, to ones like me who have been out of the program for some time, and finally to those who have never taken a class in their life. Donyelle's teaching will appeal to everyone at any level. I also attempted a jazz class taught by someone else, but realized how much I sucked so I didn't stay for the entire session, but that doesn't mean you should not try it if you have a strong jazz background. I really enjoy having this dance studio in my neighborhood. read more

What makes this place really is the use it has for Hollywood. You go in and it's a narrow hallway full of all the stars that use their studio. The thing you pay for here is the experience. I came here to take Shaun's class on Super Bowl Sunday. Because it was that day, there was only about 20-30 people (I think). I haven't danced in over a year and expected Shaun's class to be killer. He is definitely an advanced class, but he's also very nice and could see that us beginners in the back needed a few more times to go over things. If you have time come take his class just for the fun of it. My friend did notice though if you're a good dancer and first time there or something they'll ask if you want to take free classes there. This place and its dancers make you wanna work harder and pwn them! LoL jk. But really everyone here is really good. They also get a lot of foreigners here too. When my friend and I arrived the girls working at the counter were ok. They didn't seem totally unfriendly. The bathroom was a bit horrid. You'd think with all the money they make, they'd fix the place up a bit. From observation from the studio's twitter, their choreographers seem to get replaced from time to time for classes. I feel like this studio is a little bit too snooty for my, but the only reason I go back and give it 5 stars because Jae Blaze teaches there! I love her class because it teaches all the steps of dancehall and its an amazing workout! If you want an amazing workout and really get the steps of dancehall this is the place to be. I wish should would just teach jukgyal here or I would go here every week.She also teaches a class called Jukgyal at the beach the last three saturdays of the month and a class at G-Train on the first Saturday of the month. If you want to go to this studio make sure you get there an hyour early just to find a parking spot! read more

By far the worst studio I've ever been to. I'm from a different country and even the dance studio there was better and cleaner. This studio, is dirty... the mirror was so bad I couldn't even see myself. The corners were filled with dust and other stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if your dance partner ended up being either a cockroach or a rat. "Beginner Level" needs to be changed to "Self Embarrassment" if you're not a professional dancer, walk right past this studio. Overall a huge disappointment. read more

It felt like I was being accused of trying to scam them which I would never do. I've always wanted to dance at Millennium after seeing their videos literally all over the internet and I'm glad I did. PARKING | HAHA it's actually horrible. Their lot is limited to maybe 5 spots, then your next option is metered street parking, and if it's on the opposite side, crossing Ventura Blvd can be very dangerous!! SIGN UP | My friend and I signed up beforehand through their app. It was a long registration process that required all your basic contact info, an app download, and then payment. When I got to the studio (exactly at 7pm) you can sign in, and wait to be let in! WAIT | I always try to get to dance classes 5-10 min early to stretch, warm up, and find a spot, but was running late this day. I arrived exactly on time which ended up being fine because we started about 10 min late. CLASS | Pete Style's Beginning Hip Hop on Friday at 7pm was great! The class was pretty full, not as packed as it could get so I'm glad I had space to dance. Pete makes sure to go through the motions with you several times so you have time to pick it up. I will say for people who have never danced before, picking up choreo is going to be difficult, but I think this is a good intro class. If you keep going, that muscle will get stronger your pick up game will improve! ATMOSPHERE | I think that the Beginning Hip Hop class specifically had good vibes! I've been to so many dance classes where people are a bit stuck up or at least come off that way, but I did not feel this AT ALL. I think everyone was just beginner enough not to be too cocky and it just made the class as enjoyable as it could be. WHAT TO BRING & WEAR | A good attitude! But actually, you're going to have your off days, so if you aren't doing this because it's fun, you're probably not here for the right reasons. Water! Just 1 water bottle should be fine. Depending on what class you're taking you will obviously be wearing different things, but for hip hop specifically wear what you're comfortable in! I personally like a baggy shirt and sweats with sneakers. The people here don't really care what kind of sneakers or brands you're wearing (wow, a break from street culture for once). OVERALL | If you're thinking about taking a class here, do it! I had a great experience when I came and am planning my next class. read more

Where do I start...Terrible parking, poor sanitation (dance rooms are filthy and musty and restrooms smell worse than a sewer); obnoxious patrons and horrible and inept management who condone bigoted behavior. Dancers don't teach. They just show kids a "routine" and expect them to just catch on. It was trash 5 years ago. Still trash today. Millennium is not worth the drive, your time, or your money. Eh. It is what it is. I come here usually only if I have rehearsals or an audition for something. The staff is way nicer than they used to be when i first went to Millenium so that is refreshing. The parking is TERRIBLE. If you have a rehearsal or want to make it to dance class on time, get there super early to find street parking. Because this studio is well-known and appears to be the trendy spot on tv, there are non-dancers that come in to "hang out" in the studio which is very frustrating since the studio is already super small to begin with. Just be ready to be crammed up wherever you go at this studio. I hope this review helps you decide on which studio to take class or book your rental space for rehearsals or auditions! :) read more

So, this post is a straight up "dad" review. I brought two teenagers from Wisconsin to LA to dance at Millennium. I had read the reviews, looked at the location on Google Maps, diligently downloaded the new app, and followed the directions on the website. I even followed Millennium and various choreographers on my Instagram with the post notification on. Still, unless you've experienced it, you have questions, get confused about easy stuff, and don't know the rhythm of the place. I have to say, every single staff representative we worked with at the desk was exceptional. And, even tho I'm a Midwest dorky dad with a beer belly and only half a head of hair, they treated me with patience and care. Thank you! The choreographers too were amazing. Yes, the late-noticed substitutions are frustrating for kids. Especially if the choreographer is one that they consider famous. BUT, every single choreographer the kids had was also amazing. Positive, encouraging, thoughtful, and willing to take time with the kids. Even staying late after the session to talk personally. As far as limited parking, I have to say that we found parking within a ten minute walk every day for six days straight during all days of the week. Limited yes. However, if you've ever been to a Badger football game or a Packer football game, you'll really feel cramped parking. Advice to dads and parents? Go early. Talk with other parents. Set up an Instagram account and follow all the choreographers and all the LA dance studios. Watch their schedules incessantly. Be very quick on the draw for signups. Don't take pics or video unless the choreographer gives permission. No more than 3-4 classes a day. Talk to and be VERY midwest-nice to staff. I love this place!!! Coming here for the first time was intimidating, but after a week of classes I felt like my ability to dance sky rocketed. I come from a small local studio in my hometown, so it was amazing to be taught by established dancers who have already made their way in the industry. Everyone that works there is so, so nice. Reading the other reviews about bad customer service really surprised me because I always walk into Millennium and feel welcomed with open arms. The environment is also very crucial. When you go to Millennium, you're not only surrounded by astounding teachers, but also hundreds of dancers from all over the world with the same goals and purposes as you. It feels like such a tight-knit community once you get to know some people. I made a friend the first day I went and it made attacking class so much easier with company. The only thing I'd say is Millennium is an intense studio, so early beginner dancers might not enjoy it, but still I'd say give it a try and test the water. Maybe you'll like it :). A pretty new studio that is already falling apart. Conditions in most of their studios are 81 degrees and 99% humidity, even when it is cool outside. I really was hoping to have a good experience here but this was not the case. My daughter's dream come true was to come to this place. I didn't have any expectations besides the usual I am paying for a class and I am hoping she has fun which ultimately was the most important one for me. I bought one class for my lil one for her bday and we couldn't make it the week before because there was an accident in freeway making it impossible to be there in less then 2 hours and we would literally make it at end of class so I called and let them know and gentleman on the phone said "no problem" just come in when u can... we were planning to come here for a while before so besides her meltdown that day as I failed to take her to her dream spot. Clearly high expectation for her. I had a field trip nearby on a Friday so I decided to pop in as I wanted to check the place out and prepare myself for the next day plus I had some time to kill for 3 pm la traffic ... long story short we decided to stay and take the 7 pm adult beginners class and at no point did anyone ask me is this her first class ... I think the assumption is that we would know what she was walking into ... boy were we wrong At one point I went to check on her and she was balling in tears and still trying to dance At no point did anyone even make note including teacher that she was crying and having a hard time.... so I communicated with the extremely nice blond lady that seems to be the manager to check on her and my daughter decided to walk out of the class immediately This was such a massive blow to her Self-esteem and she vowel to never dance again ( mind u this is her dream come true all together) her exact words were "I thought I was good and now I see I suck" So after speaking with this extremely nice lady she offered credit for my daughter and I was very appreciative. She informed me that the next day kids beginners class was "10 times easier" So here I drive home for one hour and 50 min to get home and next day another 1 hour with no traffic ... my daughter was still discouraged but I gave her the pep talk that this was an easier class guided towards children and that should would have move support in class... boooooy was I wrong ... she kept asking where and what time class was and they didn't seem to Be able to clearly let her know what was going on until I had to get up and ask with her... she gets into class and naturally like a lot of the students there she ran to las roll In class Hip hop @12:30 pm I mean there was not one sort of communication or even any acknowledgment that a class was starting or going on or anything at all at any point he didn't even bother introducing himself or even asking basic questions as "hey! Anyone's first class here ?" That would have been good also no Acknowledgment that she was literally pressed against mirror not being able to move very well But too uncomfortable to say anything ... I didn't have any expectations for this place but this type of teaching is not considered teaching. I think she would have learned more by watching any Music vídeos cuz that's pretty much what happened He danced in front of mirror From middle of classroom to the back packed to the neck and no one moment did he say " hey u in the back move here " or hey this leg Is going the different method ... the whole thing was disastrous and if they paid me for class I wouldn't go. Anyone that deals with customers in their line of business I believe would agree that And one point of another u will have a beginner somewhere at some point and we Cater to Them to make sure that have an easy transition or feel Extremely welcomed... i have a very good understanding of the importance of making a customer feel good as I believe that's the secret for any good business. This was a very sad experience for her and I absolutely don't plan to take her as she said it herself "Not until i am 20 and a really good dancer" Bathrooms on a Friday night were like a busy day at a major event and I was surprised that they didn't have some Up keeping during night classes as hundreds of people walked in and out those doors. Parking was complicated and the street is really busy which adds an extra painful gut issue when crossing. Again staff was good and blond manager was extremely nice. But the overall experience was just shitty for lack of better words. In 8 years we will be back again and per my daughter " after I gain experience cuz no one even notices my mistakes now to help me" Just because someone is good at something it doesn't mean They r good teachers ... and there is no such a thing as a bad student but I'm honesty only incompetent teachers If every child or person that tries class is not leaving that place inspired, touched or moved to Do an BE better it's a problem. as for my child I told her that quitting is not an option so we will Figure something else soon. read more

I have now been to Millenium twice now and both times have not been good experiences. The classes themselves are great but to get to the class is not really worth it to me. The studio is not lit well making it hard to find from the busy street and has a small parking lot with a VERY RUDE security guard. I apparently came in the wrong way (which I saw after I pulled in) and before I could back up he was YELLING at me saying "don't you see that is the wrong way". Not necessary. Then the second time I came class started 30 MINS late. Why why is class starting 30 MINS LATE! Then when I asked about it the staff gave me an annoyed look and said he will be finished soon. Yea you told me that 20 mins ago. Well I am annoyed too as I see the class before mine filming and doing group after group. I came for class at 9 not 930p. read more

Then you have a big headed security guard shining a flashlight in the eyes of people pulling into the lot telling them to "go away..." and giving you attitude, great first impression for your customers. He complains about accidents being caused in "his" lot and then doesn't seem to realize that shining a flashlight into the eyes of someone driving a car isn't dangerous? Seriously...
