Only reason it's not a 1 is because the food was good. This place needs severe training/management correction/updates. There were about 3 tables inside and a birthday party outside(it was almost over) when we walked in. Stood there for a few minutes and then the bartender (guessing he may have been the manager) said we could sit anywhere. We picked a table and waited and waited-everyone was going around lost, looked at us and no one stopped to help us. We were just about to walk out. Finally the same bartender asked if we had been helped yet and we said no so he asked what we wanted to drink, we ordered pops and he said it was on him and he was sorry about that. He came out from behind the bar and went to the host stand and got us menus and silverware-at this time the host finally came back to her station and said she didn't see us walk in-well no she didn't, she wasn't there. Then there was a conversation between bartender and host about who was gonna be our waitress. Sat there for awhile looking at the menus and no waitress, finally just about fed up and she showed up. She asked if we wanted any apps, we said no and said we were ready to order. I ordered 10 wings and asked about two sauces, which she was unsure of the difference, she said she was fairly new and just learned them all, but did answer my questions. I ordered spicy garlic and spicy Thai sauces on the side. After I ordered she asked what my pop was, I said it didn't make a difference as the bartender said he covered the cost. She said just so she knows for refills and such. Husband ordered 10 traditional wings with the maple bacon bbq sauce. Also ordered a Philly cheesesteak w/fries for us to try. We both got carrots,celery and blue cheese. Our food was delivered in a timely manner. For my wings-she brought boneless, which I realized I didn't specify so not her fault, but my husband's was also boneless and he had ordered traditional. I asked her about it and she said oh, I didn't hear him, I just put boneless in because most people that dine in order them because of the deal. I stated well we didn't know there was a deal as no one told us. She just said oh well most people know the deal before they come in and I said we didn't. And she just looked at me. So I asked well what is the deal and she's like well boneless wings are $0.80 each. I said ok. We sent his back as I knew he ordered traditional. When she checked on us while waiting for his to be fixed, I asked about my sauces. It did not taste like a spicy garlic. She said it is, I said well it tastes like buffalo-which it did, No garlic flavor at all. She just said that's weird and walked away. Finally my husband's new Wings came out and they were really good, best part of the meal, he did get all flats, which I love but he prefers a mix (not sure if they always do flats or not). Most laughable part of the meal is , we get the bill and lo and behold the 2 pops were on there. (They charge for the veggies, blue cheese and and extra sauces as well.) She came to take our bill and I said those two pops should not be on there, the bartender said he was gonna cover those, she said I didn't know, he didn't say anything to me. (I bit my tongue, I was gonna say--but I told you at the beginning). So she said she would go take them off, took her a bit, but did get it resolved. We saw her more when it was time to pay then the whole rest of the meal! Also, the men's bathroom stall door wouldn't stay closed and toilet didn't flush. Diner level food - at best. Asked if they had chips & salsa - was told yes. Our server then brought potato chips with salsa. Weird combo. Service was good although our poor server had an awful lot of tables. After overpaying for subpar food, the icing on the cake was a 3% restaurant fee. I understand the concept but when observing how understaffed they were, I seriously question whether the fee is being applied to staff as intended. Walked over here after it being suggested. No signs, nothing on the website. Yelp and sign up in the parking lot claims it's open. It's 6:37pm right now on 07/17/23 and it seems that they can close to the public but not a private party...the bartend said closed for "construction"...guess it's a one night construction? A pretty average bar and grill in my opinion. This place has a good feel, a nice horseshoe bar, dart boards, and a couple pool tables. They have room for large grouping or meetings. There are numerous TV monitors throughout the place. Basically this is what I call a sports bar. I felt the staff were a bit on the less friendly side. I stopped in once when it wasn't busy and once when it was. In both cases, the bartender was seemed like she didn't want to engage with customers. Oh well, I'm hoping it was just bad timing on my side. Food here was pretty average too. Not bad, but definitely nothing to rave about. This place has plenty of parking. If I could give 0 stars, I would for this restaurant. My husband, mother in law, daughter and I went to eat here Saturday evening, and it was a horrible dining experience. The two burgers that were ordered were charred and burned beyond being chewable. Ever had a burger that was burned so badly that it could barely be ripped apart? That was how badly ours were burned. The appetizer platter and the tater tots that were served were severely over-fried. The tater tots were so over done the inside of them were nothing but air. And being that all our food was so overcooked you'd think it would be hot. Except it was all cold when it was served to us. Reading all that would make a person think this restaurant would've been super busy, but it wasn't. Despite the fact that it was 7ish, on a Saturday evening, the place was empty. Guess the locals already know to skip The Bar! To top it off, when we attempted to explain to the waitress that our food was not good she looked at us like we were something nasty, said, "Oh", and walked away. That was indicative of the quality of her service, though. Or waitress didn't check on us once and spent her time talking with other employees instead of taking care of her tables. This was the first time in my whole life I didn't leave my waitstaff any kind of a tip. The one redeeming quality was the manager who came to listen to our complaint. Unfortunately I do not remember her name, I wish I did because she deserves to be recognized as the only jewel in this otherwise awful place. She patiently listened, completely agreed with our assessment of the food we were served, and compensated for that on our bill. To her, we all give a huge, "Thank you". I want to finish off by explaining that I don't normally leave negative reviews. I'm fact, if you look at my history, I rarely leave reviews at all. However, this experience was so poor I felt I needed to share it to help keep others from making the same mistake we did by eating there. Came here with a large group after a day of training. Two for one drinks during happy hour definitely draws a crowd. Our group ordered a bunch of appetizers, lots of battered and fried options, cheese curds, wings, pizza etc. nothing really stood out. A couple of us had salads for dinner which were great, good size, fresh veggies and toppings, dressing on the side. The locals recommended the spotted cow beer, a Wisconsin beer. I stopped here with some friends. Place was busy but not too bad. They had buy one get one free for a dollar special which we took advantage of. We ordered some onion rings, pizza and chips and dip. Everything was wonderful my favorite was the homemade chips and dip!!! I noticed they had other menu items too like burgers, wraps, salads. Mac and cheese was decent but again way over priced for what you get. Went there with a couple to watch college basketball (Sweet 16), the games weren't on so we requested. After 15 min we asked again and they came back saying they are having issues with remote and are trying. Well they never fixed the issue.... There were 6 of us here for dinner New Year's Eve Eve. We had a great experience. We were seated promptly, a waiter was at our table right way, our drink orders were filled quickly. We got appetizers, dinner and dessert. The wings were fair to good, but not great. The Mac and cheese was excellent but a slightly smaller portion than anticipated. The chicken wrap and bbq pork burger were both really good as well as the fries and chips with French onion dip. Don't miss the hot cookie with ice cream for dessert if you have room! First off, let me say that the food is great. What I don't recommend is getting your food delivered. The man who delivered our food was horrible. We could SMELL the alcohol coming off of him. And he was rude when I told him he wasn't getting a cash tip because he was driving, delivering intoxicated. He responded by mumbling curse words under his breath and tearing out of our driveway. Just to average run of the mill bar food nothing that every blows us away. We have been here several times over the last few years usually because it's cheap and close. Almost every time we have been there they have for gotten something on our order if it's taking tomatoes off or not having a side we asked for. Nothing too extreme but it has happened more than once so it's worth mentioning. Went on a Saturday night where the place was packed!!! We were seated right away with a table of 9 of us. The service was above and beyond. All the boys in the family ordered a ton of wings with a plethora of sauces. The girls had burgers and said it was some of the best burgers they've had in awhile. I travel through Wausau on business a couple of times a year. I always stay at the Stoney Creek, I come in on the last flight, so it's late, the gentleman that works the front desk in the evenings recommended The Bar for delivery. I gave them a call after looking at the brochure type menu he handed me. The food arrived faster than I expected and exceeded my expectations. This will be a regular for me. Not much happening in Rothschild, WI during the week with temperatures below -40 including windchills. The Bar was recommended by the locals but was one of a few limited options in the grand scheme of things. There was a mixture of local regulars but largely business travelers from the collection of hotels in the immediate area. Each searching desperately for something unique to do but in the end settling into a long slow drinking session. I believe this accounts for the somewhat gloomy atmosphere. The establishment itself is another local version of Fridays or Chillies, with a large bar area and open seating. The Bar, much like the surrounding areas just seems to lack people in motion. It could be a nice place and perhaps it is on other nights. But it was little more then a place to have a few drinks to postpone the inevitable short trip back to the hotel room. Staff is young, some are bubbly and fun while others are moody who just expect a 20% tip for nothing. Buy one drink get the second for a Dollar. The second has to be served at the time of purchase. Silly special since the second beer is halfway to warm by the time one gets to it. Thirty-five cent wing special. The mixed drinks looked pretty good although I did not partake in them. If your in the area, head in a have a drink and bite to eat. Your options are limited and this place will hold you over until you head off to a larger city. read more

This was a pleasant experience. We had the cheese curds- they are hand battered there. They were good. My husband had the bratwurst - he enjoyed it . And the fries it came with were good though likely cooked from frozen. My daughter had the Mac and cheese- it was Kraft . I had a garden salad - it was fresh. We enjoyed the happy hour - but one get one for $1. That was a good deal though I agree with a previous reviewer - it is odd you get both at the same time. The decor is a typical sports bar. Our server was very nice. I think, for the area, this is one of the best choices around but, compared to other restaurants I have been to in my life, this is solidly average. Not sure if they did a quality check or not. But I would think spending $32 on door dash it would be as good as what I could make at home? Definitely a must go to place if you were in the area. It's a big place so if you're with a group there's room. I came in on a Sunday and it was pretty empty. I was able to get a seat at the bar without feeling crowded. My bartender/server was Alex and the other bartender helped take care of me as well (he had glasses, shorts, nice hair). They had a lot of tasty looking items on their menu but I opted for the cheese curds and wings. They have drink specials every night and their kitchen closes at midnight. The bar has great potential and used to truly be great. On Tuesday nights coworkers and friends would religiously show up for trivia food and drinks. More recently staffing has changed along with the menu. They have made an attempt to become more artesian which does not suit their sports bar feel. Great place to go for your birthday as you receive free drinks and a fun environment with pool, games, a large bar and a very inviting outdoor seating area. It was when we began waiting an hour to receive appetizers and our second drink order that we stopped going and found other locations to participate in America's pub quiz. Holy amazing restaurant/ bar!! I knew they had gluten free options which is hard to find but they've stepped it up and added celiac safe options as well. They have dedicated friers for sides. They have burger buns, bread for sandwiches, and pizza crust and CHEESE CURDS all available. Even sauces are marked gluten free or celiac safe. They just need gluten free dessert :) I would love to eventually see The Bar around Eau Claire or Hudson areas since I'm from the Twin Cities. We don't get back to the Wausau/ Appleton/ or Green Bay areas too often. It would be amazing to have one so close :) read more
