What a great find! Owner(s) and staff were so accommodating and patient to our party of 9 ladies. The food was so delicious. I had split an order of the mushroom Swiss burger with cheese curds with a friend. My other friends ordered a variety of other things off the menu including the Christmas curds and tailgate soup (beer cheese & brat soup topped with bread toasts & fresh cheese curds). Gosh the curds & soup a must order to share. Nothing is premade. Everything is fresh & made to order. Really cool place located near the Hwy yet in the woods! This place looks like a roadhouse! Old building but fixed up pretty nice. Outdoor beer garden and large indoor bar and seating. Found it funny that they have an outdoor pool table! Food was pretty good. Loved the 1/2 lb Bacon Cheese Burger. It was so big it was hard to fit it in my mouth to take a bite. Burger was cooked the way I like it and all the toppings were fresh (each topping is an upcharge however). My onion rings were okay. Only because I think they were overcooked a bit. I think if they would have been a little less cooked that would have been awesome however. Pretty great menu for a roadside bar. 3 soups too! read more

At the front end of a long road trip we fueled up at Rachel's for lunch. We had the house chili (with fry-bread) and beer cheese soup with cut up brats. Delicious and filling--we didn't need dinner that night! Clean restrooms and helpful staff. Even a local produce stand selling corn, radishes, onions and tomatoes inside. read more

we used to love it at Racheal's. This last year or so we are continually unhappy. Everything has changed. progressively going downhill. Considering never going back. 5 visits in a row going home disappointed. They are skimping on everything. We went Sunday for what used to be a great chicken dinner, they gave us the heads up it could be an hour. We appreciated that, it 45 minutes after ordering they came to tell us they are out of white meat, which is all we eat. When food eventually came it was horrible! omg!! soup. ice cold. 2x baked potato was awful. blah and cold, salad JOKE. old small wood bowl with handful of mixed greens straight from the bag shoved into the bowl. one thimble of salad dressing in a soggy paper cup that held one spoonfu. Service could 1000000% be improved. Thought this was going to be a fun new spot. But Jewels had other plans. We sat at the bar and said we were ready to order. She blew us off and came back to say one minute. (Fine okay no worries) We ordered our food and with an appetizer. All to only get the appetizer a whole hour later! Drinks finished when Jewels came by with nachos I said thank you & immediately went to ask for our food. She ignored us again and walked off. My husband and I waited 20 minutes maybe she'll come back (we did acknowledge it was moderately busy) drinks still empty nachos gone 30 minutes down. We then asked a server next to us for the bill and paid for my husband's one drink and nachos. She (the new server) asked for a moment going to the kitchen to come back and say our food was plated. We declined because who would want food that had been sitting out. She was very polite and apologized. We leave half way through the parking lot and here comes Jewels yelling at us asking who do we think we are. Not the owner Not the manager And not a very good server ... We did stop, all for her to tell us her boss was pissed and wants to get paid for the steaks. She told us that we didn't order right away UNTRUE Jewels you took our order. If you have time to wait 2 hours on a meal this is the place for you. If you'd like to get yelled at a server after they do a piss poor job here's a place for you! read more

Rachel's is a classic small town bar. Feels very familial and quirky. Feels like those small town bars in a movie Didn't have anything bad. Didn't have anything life changing. Lots of options. The burger was tasty. Pizza was very nice. Loaded chili Chicken wild rice soup Definitely on the greasy/fried side of food options. Not a place to go for healthy food. barely busy, waited 45min for food, then waited 40min to get the check, and got order wrong, not worth it.

I give it two stars (1) it's a bar (2) they have good spinach and artichoke dip. It's all downhill from there tho. The server-bartenders are really nice, but everyone is running around like chickens with their heads cut off b/c there is clearly no concept of efficient operations management and that's not their fault. These ladies are bartending and serving and making pizza (which gets worse and worse), they don't seem to have sections, and trying to close out your tab will take 40 minutes. The food is the lowest quality food you can get, but hey that's fine b/c it's WAY more important to invest in cosmetic updates. The only saving grace for this establishment is that there's no competition in the area. read more

Food is always good. Sometimes it takes way too long to get your food. Staff is always friendly but often are too busy or distracted and you wait a long time to get what you want. Often way to loud to carry on a conversation. Much nicer and bigger than it looks from the outside. read more

Amazing burgers. Friendly employees. Can't wait to come back. We were there on a Thursday night, so had no problems getting a table. They have a nice outdoor area. They even have a pool table outside, which is kind of unique. I would love to come back sometime when they have live music, but I imagine it is pretty crowded. read more

Pulled into the bar and looked packed, however, don't let that fool you. It's massive inside. Longest country bar to sit at I've ever seen, and tons of seating. Service was on point but waiting was an hour to eat and we were informed as soon as we sat down. Killed time playing taptv via phone. Food was perch and shrimp with twice baked potato and all was fantastic. Well worth the hour wait. Beer was reasonably priced while we waited. Super clean bathrooms and bar area. We were in our way from Minnesota to Manitowoc and needed to stop for dinner. Found this great place AND it was Wing night! Such a cool set up, we took advantage of the outdoor bar seating area. They had an outdoor pool table too, which which is fun, and the bathrooms and whole establishment was very clean. The wings and shrimp were good and the cheese curds were amazing - great find on our trip and would love to come back again. read more

This place was recommended by the lodging place nearby. Was skeptical if truly good, or getting paid to send customers. I was pleasantly surprised. I had a tenderloin french dip. This sandwich was tender, moist, mouth watering. With excellent flavor. Also had their famous cheese curds. The breading is totally different from anything I have had before, but that is s good thing. The batter was light and allowed the flavor of the cheese to take center stage. I realize places get busy on Sundays. This place takes forever to get drinks & food out and when I asked to order ahead for my friends that were joining me, the waitress told me they can order when they get there. When they arrived, it took 15 minutes to get the server back and when my friends did order their drink, the waitress slammed them down and rolled her eyes at us. Will NOT be back. Stopped on the way to our vacay destination. We ordered the cheese curds, Rachel's O rings, Ham and Cheese Croissant(with Swiss instead of american) and the Bacon Cheese Burger. All were spectacular. So I'm writing this review to let the world know that a small town bar in the middle of Wisconsin hidden away off of highway 29 is now my favorite place to be. The two sassy bartenders Bryer and Ang made our stay a wonderful experience. The drink prices were so low we had to stay for a couple and the food was awesome. Highly recommend the steak sandwich and Cuban sandwich. I'm pretty sure if I lived next door I would be fat and wasted all the time. So if your cruising down highway 29 between Wittenberg and shawano stop in for a couple cold ones and some fantastic grub. read more

Our order took forever. Way to long for a lunch break. Guessing they cook one order at a time. The burger was large but no flavor and the bun was dry and heavy. Cheese curds were ok....just ok. I was charged for ranch but didn't order it nor want it. It was assumed....ripping people off one quarter at a time. read more

I ate here because it was close to the hotel I was staying at. The service was terrible. Rarely had someone come check on me. The mixed drinks were just as bad as the service. Ordered a bacon cheese burger and it was super dry and bland. If I had known earlier that there was a McDonalds 2 miles away, I would've had a much better dinner and experience. read more

Want to start of with the fact that Covid-19 has nothing to do with this review. In fact, just the opposite. You couldn't tell there was a pandemic in full swing if you walked into this place! No social distancing, masks, no ordinary cleanliness let alone addition sanitizing. Place was recently "remodeled/expanded". Yet the bathrooms and original disgusting flooring couldn't be fixed? They renovation is half assed. Nothing is completed. Thankfully I didn't use that contractor for any of my projects. But I digress. The food is greasy, barely edible, definitely not healthy and the slowest/over cooked, most unappetizing food in the area. And that's the best part of the place. Please! Don't expect a polite friendly bartender. We have been there 2 times in a week (options are extremely limited in the area). The first time we stopped after working/driving for 14 hours. We definitely needed a cocktail! But unless you order a prepackaged beverage you will be wanting for the taste of alcohol in your mixed drink. After seeing the price for the mixed drink (vodka/seltzer) I made a mental note to ask for a double next time. Time to order... Time to wait 1 hour for your food. Not the way I expected to finish a long hard day at work. But Friday night, I'll let it go. Even though we were 2 of 4 people actually eating. Gave the place a second try. Absolutely rude bartender. After ordering a drink which again barely had a shot of vodka in it, we perused the menu. Not much to order on an average day. Basic tavern fare. So I looked around for signs of specials. Found one on a rack with other special advertisements and empty gift card envelopes. That special wasn't for the night we were there, so I continued to flip through the cards in the rack and found not one but two offering specials on drinks during the time period we were there. So we asked the bartender if we were going to be receiving the special deal. She said she has never heard of the special. So my husband remarked that she must be new. She responded abruptly that she had been working there 4+ months. Meanwhile she texted the owner to ask about the special. The owner responded with the same answer. Never hear of the special. Odd. We had been to the place several times for the special in the past and all the locals know about it. Oh well. Bait and switch. No surprise. BUT when we remarked to the bartender that it was odd that they knew nothing about the special she smarted back rudely that "If we hadn't dug around looking for something, we wouldn't have found it". Excuse me?! Dug around? Isn't that why you put the advertisement on the bar?? For your customers to see? After calling her out on her extreme rudeness and threatening to tell the owner about the situation, she reluctantly offered a half hearted "sorry". And then wouldn't go further than 5' from us. So must for social distancing. And privacy. It will probably be another 2-3 years before we give this place a try again. read more

Only ate here because it was the closest restaurant to the hotel we stayed at for a night before going to Green Bay for the Packers game. I would rather drove an hour out of the way then eat here again. Ordered a pizza that we took back to the hotel that was so burnt I couldn't finish one piece. read more
