I have walked by this placed and always seen clients coming and going. Noticed in Yelp they do scissor cuts,called for a appointment and they booked me with Lulu. Was treated well as a customer,and Lulu exceeded my expectations.She listened, and even cut my hair dry with scissors, which many stylists moan about because the hair goes flying everywhere. Nothing like a good hair cut,and at 76 I have had many. A fair price for West Hollywood too. I totally recommend Lulu and for any local to stop by. read more

\I really wanted to like this place since it's only a few blocks away and I'm at the coffee shop next door pretty much all the time. Unfortunately my experience left a lot to be desired. After booking online and getting a beard trim, I noticed I had been charged twice at full price, once when booking and again in-store. The trim itself was serviceable, okay price for an okay result, but worth flagging: double-check your statements after your visit. Getting it resolved was the more frustrating part. It took three separate interactions with the shop, including two in person, to try to sort it out. The owner was nice enough about it and canceled the appointment in his system, which probably should have triggered a refund on its own. But after a few days nothing changed, so I eventually gave up and disputed the charge through my bank, which is ultimately how I got my money back. It's a pretty awkward hassle for something that should have been a straightforward fix. I'm not looking to pile on, and maybe this was just a one-off. But after going through all of that, I'll probably take my business elsewhere for now, even though the location couldn't be more convenient for me. read more

I've been coming to "The Barber Den" ever since they opened. Jordan, the owner, is my barber; and he's great! Always cuts my hair perfectly. I appreciate the extra touches like shaving the back of my neck with a straight razor, cleaning up the eyebrows, and the hot towel for the face and head. Awesome. The small shop (around 5 chairs) is always hopping with a great energy. Jordan definitely sets the tone for this friendly and welcoming establishment. The decor feels like an upscale men's den. Very comfortable and relaxing. Complimentary bottled water and coffee. Super dog friendly. Based on the great reviews it appears all of the barbers are good. read more

THOSE WITH LONG/CURLY HAIR AVOID (unless you're chopping it off) -I spent 3yrs+ growing my hair out. No trims. -6+ months beard/stache growth. Some trimming myself. I mentioned all this to Jordan and the man he placed me with who wasn't on his lunch break. I was a walk-in looking like an auburn Gandalf who was referred to this place by a friend. I left looking like Randy Savage. I wanted a *trim* for a headshot session. "Get rid of the split ends," I said. "Natural" was the word we repeated to each other throughout the session. "Middle Earth" (if he didn't get the reference, say so! I can communicate other ways). He spritzed a couple times and started basically dry-cutting. He had me take my glasses off so I couldn't see what was happening... ...I got in the shower and screamed as I smoothed conditioner through my hair. That dude took off easily a YEAR'S worth of growth! What used to be natural, gorgeous layers that cascaded past my shoulders is now a blunt "skull cape." My high ponytail, is now a dreadful min-pone. I can handle the uneven weed-whacking he put my mustache through (2 months will even it out), but I'm now realizing why there are waitlists to get in with LA curl specialists. The beard trim was okay. Still puffy-looking. Jordan is very accommodating and friendly, but that won't get back the $500 I spent on my shoot. That said, I don't want a refund or even an apology. I want a Time Machine. It should be noted that this is not the only complaint I've read on here from a curly-haired person who's lost unnecessary length at this place. Unlike them, I won't be changing my rating. Atmosphere, vibes, and pleasantries don't matter if the haircut itself is terrible. We don't seem to be learning from our mistakes. And no, Jordan. I scheduled an appointment with Tony for the first time since I'm new to the neighborhood. I asked for a mid taper fade, and he told me he'd never heard of that before--even after I showed him a picture. That made me nervous, but he said he'd figure it out. I also asked him to trim the top by just a quarter of an inch, but instead, he cut off almost all of my curly hair. The only thing he got right was my facial hair. I'm extremely disappointed--it took me nearly a year to grow out my hair, and now I have to start all over. I won't be coming back. read more

Tony is a goat. His skill with line ups is on another level. Even when I totally mess up my beard line, he is able to somehow resurrect a sharp and even line. I love that he is always on time with scheduling and gets me in and out of the shop as fast as possible while delivering a top quality cut. One time I asked him for a crown in my hairline, and after 5 seconds of looking at a reference photo, it was executed perfectly.
