She responds to you in a timely manner and is very patient and understanding. Her prices are very reasonable compared to other braiders who work in barbershops and hair salons. She provides the hair and takes her time. I have tried to book with her myself due to the quality of her work but our schedules have yet to coincide. Finally I said, "Enough!" In the beginning I really enjoyed his place. Barbers taking on the traditional form of barbering with scissors and clippers and shaving cream appealed to me. I like the fact that the location was next to the probation office and on a busy street in the near Shadyside community. I have been getting my haircut by Eric for at least the last year. He's a good barber but on the expensive side. One haircut for $23 plus tip. I am the kind of client is willing to pay that if I get a good cut and good service. But after this most recent trip I realized that I can't take it anymore!! The barbershop is dominated by a huge television. Typically, the television is playing in a loud volume very trashy videos that either have high sexual content or extreme violence. This has been the practice almost every time I have gone The last time that I was there my barber was cutting my hair while fully engaged in the movie and talking to everyone about the action in the flick. Three times I said to him "pay attention to my haircut." Enough said, I won't be returning. Why pay money for that. read more

My barber was not available and I needed an emergency hair cut. I chose to go to the barbers inn because he said it was closer to me and he knows a few of the guys there and if I absolutely needed it done and that's the next place he would recommend. I am an somewhat androgynous woman and have had negative experiences with men cutting my hair and if I don't flirt with them or have any intentions of doing anything with them then they provide terrible service. Or the experience is weird and they are condescending. This place is a joke... if they are cool with you then they will "cut your hair well" and if they are not cool with you they will ruin your hair and skin your head instead of giving you the fade you asked for. I went to the barber in the second chair who was playing video games until the other barber demanded he cut my hair. He got up and seemed nice I told him that I wanted a fade... slightly lower than the guy beside me because my hair grows fast. He cut it low and even but did not fade anything... there is a defined line where he drove the clippers up my head and stopped and did not fade anything out. He then proceeded to laugh with the other hair stylist and the other hair stylist yelled things from across the room about my hair. If you want f*ck boys to cut your hair then go here. I am tired of hyper-masculine male barbers that barely want to do their job think that it's cool to mess up someone's hair. I will stick to getting my hair cut at the "Cultural's Elite" and never trust another dusty a*s barber from the east end again. read more

The Barbers Inn - Barbers Near Me - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

The idea and theme of The Barbers Inn is spot on. A manly barbershop where you can watch football and be a guy. They do have a pool table and alcohol is available to members. I didn't get to see the table, but I definitely heard the familiar sounds of a billiards' break. As soon as I walked in, I was pretty much immediately greeted. I'm pretty sure that this place is pretty new, for it didn't seem like it had that worn in feeling quite yet (in doing a little research, it seems that it's been open since around 2008). As for the haircut itself, it seemed like their specialty is the classic shave, though I don't know if they offer a straight razor. If they do, I'm glad that she didn't because I'm not sure I trust her like that. No offense to her, it just didn't seem like she was quite seasoned yet. The haircut wasn't bad, but I'm sure some 18 year old at best cuts could do an equal hack job for half the price. I'm pretty easy going about life in general and maybe it's my own fault for not being more specific about my expectations. I usually go to a place and just tell the lady (I've never let a man cut my hair, strange, I know) to do whatever she thinks will look good as long as it's shorter than it is at that moment. I mean, it's pretty standard that the only difference in a men's cut is the length. Thus, I always ask for no clippers because I don't like it being real short. I had Anita, an alternative styled chick who was friendly, but seemed a little shy and a bit eccentric. She didn't do a horrible job, but I have noticed that she could use a little more practice with scissors. She may be excellent with the clippers, but I just don't go for the shave job if I'm paying. The cut is a bit uneven for I had went in with a pretty even head, just shaggy as all hell. It seems as though she thinned one side more than the other. When I got home, I did a few minor alterations for I had found some patches where it was clear that section was just too much longer than the other. I'm uncertain if I'll return here. I'm thinking I'd like to go back because the idea is right up my alley and next time I'll be a bit more demanding. I hate going to corporate chains, especially for any type of service (in this case, grooming). Thus, the concept of trying to make it a men's salon is pretty unique to Pittsburgh and definitely appealing to me. I'm also on the fence as to whether or not the cut was worth $23 plus tip (I don't think I'm cheap, but my $5 is pretty standard for me). After moving here from Chicago, I was on a search for 2 months trying to find a place to get a haircut that wasn't a chain or a place you could get a bikini wax after your cut. read more

This place has come a long way since opening in 2008. I think the bad reviews reflect the growing pains of a new business. This is a great upscale barbershop that has a mini bar, multiple t.v's, leather furniture and a pool table. Finally there's a great group of barber's that work there. They can cut all types of hair therefore, making it a multi-cultural barbershop. Prices are reasonable ($16-$33) considering a man's cut in a salon is $40+. This place is terrific -- I went in for a straight razor shave, something not so easy to find these days, and was treated to a steady head and great skill. It's a really comfortable environment -- TVs, pool table, soda available -- and the two guys running the place are cool. They even seem to run a car detailing service out back! I have been going to the Barbers Inn for years as Sheila is the best! I am very particular about my hair and due to the weird nature in how it goes Sheila got it right the very first time. She is a woman of great courage and strength, smart, beautiful and extremely talented. She knows how to take care of her customers and goes the extra mile to ensure quality is just not a word but a way of life for her. When my mother was dying in a nursing home I wanted to give my Mom that last beauty treatment of cutting her hair since she too was always very particular about it. Sheila came to the home and gave my Mom a "heavenly gift" of cutting her hair that not only brightened her day but mine as well. That speaks to the character of her as a person. Being the owner she sets a "high bar" for her other barbers to follow, but never asks them to do something she doesn't require of herself. During the initial lifting of the COVID restrictions I chose not to go anywhere else or even attempt to cut my own hair but waited for 4 months until Sheila could cut again. I recently received my hair cut from her and all I can say is...PRICELESS! If you haven't visited this establishment you are doing yourself a disservice. read more

The Barbers Inn is an amazing barbershop, the barbers are friendly, helpful, and supportive. The establishment has this relaxed laid back feeling to it. family orientated safe environment. You are greeted upon entry every time. The prices match the services. Its a bonus that they are open seven days a week and they have evening hours until 8 pm. read more

Just terrible. I went in and had a new barber give me a cut - my mistake all the way and I'll take that. It was my first time getting a haircut by a chick. She was talking during the cut and I learned that she was a rookie and didn't have a passion for cutting and was just trying to get her hustle game on. Half way through the cut I noticed several patches on my head and I had to practically hold her hand to get the rest of the cut done properly. Apparently no one else works there. I got in there primetime, between 5 and 8 on a Wednesday. The place was empty. The owner of the place only takes clients by appointment and the rest of the staff are hacks who don't show up to work, leaving the rookie to bottom feed. Never again. Pittsburgh is in short supply of decent urban barbershops that cater to an upscale clientele. If you think this place is it dont waste your time or $23 bucks like I did. It was an expensive lesson that no one else should have to learn. read more

Went there today and paid $23.00 for a $10.00 haircut. This is a beautiful shop where you can take any family member and not have to deal with the foolishness that lives in other barber shops. The barber I had is new to the game and not sure of what to do with African American hair. Enough said? She is a newbie that needs to hone her skills before charging top dollar for her services. I understand equal opportunity, but please, learn what is expected then execute and meet that expectation. The results were below average and I doubt I will return to her chair in the future. The sad part is that one wonders how the situation in reverse would be handled. If you want a great cut, try another chair. read more
