I am new to PGH and came here to try out the barbershop when the other barber I have been going to was unavailable. Tony cut my hair and he did a spectacular job for the very first time coming here. There are 4-5 barbers here, so I think there is decent availability for booking appts and I appreciated the digital appointment system via their website (which even will send you an appt reminder the day of). The barbershop itself is fairly no-frills, and I would say the prices are moderate, but worth their value. My haircut was on time when I visited and was efficient, but not rushed. read more

I would come here again. Great haircut for sure, but damn the place is in a state of disarray. The floor stayed covered in hair and neck tissue. Also, the little brush they use to get hair off my face was pretty rough. No big deal but the thing that separates the best shops from the rest is a good sensory experience and a clean environment. Here's how you can get 5 stars from me and everyone else (the missing elements): Sweep up all the hair between cuts. Make a point to give high attention to the details of the whole experience. A little hot shaving cream and/or some smell-good stuff at the end couldn't hurt. read more

I desperately needed to get my beard trimmed and a few hairs trimmed while attending a vows renewal for my daughter in Pittsburgh. Men's haircuts are $17, great price for the service and care put into the work. I found this barber shop through a friend of mine when I had recently relocated to Pittsburgh a couple years ago and was trying to find a place to get a nice haircut. McGuinn's is a great barber shop that delivers high quality haircuts and the service is definitely above average in my experience. I usually make my appointments with Ken; however, I have gotten my haircut from the other barbers on occasion and the result is always the same. Also, if you interested in having your beard trimmed as well they do a really nice job with that too. Overall, just a comfortable environment with a really cool, old fashioned vibe, and all the barbers are very friendly and laid back. I'd recommend McGuinn's to anybody who was looking for a new barber shop. read more

I used to go to Southside barber and wait for about 30-45 minutes before I could get my haircut. It didn't matter if i went at 11 AM on a Monday, or 6 PM on a Friday. I always had to wait, and that got to be frustrating. So I started researching and found a barbershop tucked away off of Shiloh st in Mt. Washington. Walked right in, got a great cut, had some good conversation all for a reasonable price. McGuinn's recently moved locations into a really nice new spot off of Murray Ave in Squirrel Hill. Aside from the haircut itself, the price ($20), the best part about McGuinn's is that you can make an online appointment. He blocks off 30 minutes for each haircut, so you don't feel like you're getting pushed and rushed out the door for the next cut. Highly recommended barber! read more

I just moved from Cleveland so I was in search of a new barber and think I hit the jackpot. I made an appointment with Ken from the website which was relatively easy. Once I got there he was finishing up a previous client (as to be expected at a Barbershop) and I was seen 5 minutes after my appointment was set (not bad at all). Asked for a half inch off the top. Ended up with a half inch total length on top(!) I didn't realize in time that he was taking 2 inches more off than I wanted. In the end, the haircut I ended up with looks good, but it's not what I wanted. If you're super clear and attentive, I'm sure the haircut you get will be fine. read more

I take my son in for haircuts and his hair is always great. He says, "mom all the ladies like me , they like my haircut." We always see Chris. He's very nice and makes my son comfortable. My son has a speech delay and can be hard to understand but the two of them carry on conversations like it's nothing. It's a quality, friendly, affordable shop. Truly one of the best. read more

Mucho gusto! What else can one say when the welcome mat reads "Suavacito"! Took a family member in for a haircut and beard trim, first time appointment. Ken Mc of course gave a terrific professional service experience. We especially appreciated how well he related with dignity and humor given that his client is on oxygen and a walker, although just 50 years old. It takes a true suavacito ("smooth guy") to treat a guest with sensitivity for the handicap, but just as importantly, like a "100% regular guy." Highly recommended! read more

Superb Barber Shop, I recommend you schedule an appointment online though. They do accept walk ins, but only when they're empty. These men take their time & cut clean crisp lines. Undercut, hard part, you name it, they fade it. I like many others will agree, you'll likely find yourself refusing to go anywhere else. I mean, honestly, I don't even know why were sharing this place with you guys. It just means were all going to have schedule our cuts even earlier. I speak from experience, I'd rather my hair grow out, and look I look like a bum, over give my money to some other chum. Ken McGuinn knows what he's ******* doing with his blades. This place is ridiculous. I had an appointment with Chris Bruce and he takes a walk in instead of honoring my scheduled appointment. I was 15 minutes early for the appointment and no apology when I confronted him on the walk in. He expected me to wait and meet his schedule.
