I stopped in because a rental host had told me there was a July…read more4 fish fry at the Possum Emporium, and while I was waiting outside for my plate, they invited me to cool off inside with my little dog. "Sit down and relax for a while, that's what we do." Even brought a bowl of fresh water for my dog while I sat in a rocking chair. So kind! The shop displays looked fascinating, and there was also a fresh produce stand outside selling melons and peppers etc from a Mennonite farm. I wound up buying an adorable children's book, "Grinnin' Possum," written by the store owner. When I return to Mentone, a nice long browse of antiques at the Possum Emporium will be on my agenda... Look for signs, the store is not directly on the highway, but just a short distance up the side road.
