I am hesistant to post this review as in the past, we were clients of The Barking Lot (with Matt at the helm) and loved it. But today I had a very bad experience with their current staff and policies. I dropped my pup off at 7:15 a.m. this morning (drop off is 7 - 8). I stopped in to pick her up at 12:15ish (pick up is before 1:00 p.m.). I wasn't really sure what "before 1:00" meant but figured if I dropped my pup off at 7:15 surely that was enough time to get her done. I was greeted by a very annoyed and unapologetic staff whose only response was "well... ugh!". I left and returned a minute later to catch them talking crap about me! My only crime was to try to be prompt and pick up my pup "before 1:00" (whatever that means). One of our last freedoms in this country is to decide where we spend our money - for me, it won't be at the Barking Lot. read more

We began taking our Goldendoodle to the Barking Lot from a puppy and continued to do so for the following year. The staff was never very friendly; however, a family member had been going to them for years, so we gave them the benefit of the doubt and decided to stick it out. After unfortunately missing a scheduled appointment we had to reschedule to a few weeks later to the next available date. This proceeded to be a very bad experience from the extremely rude attitude and sense of belittlement from the staff, to the overall state in which we received our dog after being there for 4 hours. The attached photo shows the condition in which we received our dog back and were expected to keep him for the next 6 weeks. Follow up phone conversations trying to find a reasonable path to mitigating the state in which our dog was left in fell on deaf ears. The staff was nothing but rude, offered no sympathies, suggestions, options, etc. The only response that was offered was to take us off their schedule, to avoid this in the future. We will not be taking our dog back to the Barking Lot and will highly dissuade anyone from going there for grooming services based on the customer service we continued to receive. I believe that the actual grooming service is okay when completed, but the customer service is entirely undesirable and therefore the result of this review. read more

We took our dog to Barking Lot for over a year. They did a good job in the beginning. They wanted us on a MONTHLY schedule. Our budget really didn't allow for $55 every month for our dogs haircut, nor did our pup need to be cut that often. We especially wanted to save during the holiday and didn't take him in for a few months. We decided to start back up and the owner scolded me for ceasing our MONTHLY cuts. He said he was going to have charge for dematting, which I was ok about because in the past dematting was usually $75 instead of $55. Not this time! They charged us $125 for one haircut and all they did was shave our dog. I called around to multiple groomers and none charged this much. I was overcharged and they had no remorse. A sad way to end a client relationship and the result is this poor review. read more

Like many people here in the Tri-Cities, I was absolutely appalled at the situation regarding another local dog groomer so I decided to take my darling Rose here. I can't believe I didn't have her groomed here to begin with. It's clear that the staff is knowledgeable about how to handle different grooming needs for respective dog breeds because it can be tricky to properly groom a fully-grown Newfoundland. When I picked Rose up, she looked fantastic. It's so convenient that they hold regular slots on their schedule for their doggy clients and their 'parents'--I don't ever have to worry about trying to fit Rose in for a session this way. This business gets high praise from me and I encourage others to head their way. read more

We have two small dogs with different grooming needs, and almost polar opposite personalities. One is a Shih Tzu and one is part Chihuahua/Papillion mix. The Shih Tzu is quiet and temperamental, and the Chihuahua/Papillion is hyperactive and reacts to almost anything. These guys handle them both really well. We get a wide variety of services including wash, brush, cut, ear maintenance, glands, and nails. These guys do an outstanding job on all of it. They also let us know if anything seems off (apparent ear infections, etc). read more

My yorkie Jack Sparrow went for the first time today, and though he's quite ornery, did very good and came home smelling and looking like a new pup! We needed to find a new groomer since we read the report in the Tri city herald about our previous groomer. Took our dog today to get groomed with specific instructions to cut his hair short. When we picked up our dog they barely took off any hair. When questioned my wife was told that "short" is subjective". When talking to the owner to cut it as we had asked we were told to make another appointment. Really good service for $55 plus a tip. Shame on my wife for the tip. Will never go back. It wouldn't let me post this without atleast giving a 1 star rating. Deserves a 0. read more

We are new to the area and I was looking for a groomer for my long-haired dachshund. I brought her once, and was impressed by the service. I have always had her groomed every 8 weeks, and when I went to schedule again the owner insisted I schedule every 4-6 weeks or he wouldn't schedule her at all. He was quite rude and treated me like I was an animal abuser for not wanting her groomed that often. I follow her vet recommendations and am careful not to bathe her too often as she has dry skin. It was quite a turn off for me and definitely not the kind of establishment I want to work with. I have no problems with the actual grooming service--the owner is just not great with customer service at all. read more

My family and I just moved to the area from Seattle where we had the BEST groomer. I immediately asked friends for recommendations as our doodle was in need of a haircut. First of all let me say I really wanted to make this work. The owner seems nice enough but was a bit aggressive when it came to pre booking for a monthly appointment. He asked that I bring my dog in prior to our appointment and said at that time we could discuss a possible 6 week appointment. Well unfortunately when I stopped by he wasn't in but I did meet with a staff member who was nice. I later received a call from the owner stating he would not see my dog for a grooming if we did not want a monthly service. I've always gotten my dog groomed every 6 weeks so this is different for me. I also found it strange that he wanted me to commit to this prior to even having one experience there. After him repeatedly stating his requirements I felt very off put by the experience and canceled our grooming. The owner was not pleasant to have a conversation with and was not flexible or even willing to allow me the opportunity to decide after a first grooming about a monthly commitment (which I was not opposed to). I feel that asking someone to commit to a monthly visit without even having the first experience is unreasonable. I will find another groomer that is good with dogs and humans. read more
