The Thomas Center also boasts two art galleries and open cultural center available for all who come to this quaint college town. They offer seasonal concerts, community guided tours and self-guided garden tours. Overall, a wonderful gem in downtown Gainesville. If you ever get a chance to come here for any reason, definitely go. It's one of the hidden treasures of this town and must be experienced to really appreciate it.

Even that far ahead we ran into places already booked. We had a budget to stick to, but more importantly than that we wanted to find a place that spoke to us spiritually, a place that felt like "us", where our friends and family who weren't christian would be comfortable along side those who were. We wanted somewhere that was beautiful in itself, that we didn't need to decorate it one bit. We didn't want runners, or ribbons, or ferns or flowers. We wanted us, our guests, and the space to be full of love, not decorations. We also wanted somewhere that had a space for a reception, that had a kitchen to use, AND you can serve alcohol. Gainesville is lacking in places that have those options and are affordable. Through a friend of ours, we found the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Gainesville. We called and spoke to Cam Pierce who is the office administrator and he confirmed that their church fit all our needs. According to their website: "We welcome people, be they Agnostic, Atheist, Buddhist, Christian, Deist, Free-thinker, Hindu, Humanist, Jew, Muslim, Pagan, Theist, Wiccan, or those who seek their own spiritual path. We welcome people without regard to economic status, ethnicity, physical ability, race, or sexual orientation. We welcome the very old, the very young, and all ages in between" Their sanctuary is HUGE and gorgeous, the acoustics are amazing we didnt need microphones at all. They have rooms to change in, a cry room for the babies, and they also have a Social Hall for a reception space if needed. We chose in the end not to use their social hall for our reception because we couldnt decorate it the night before or get into it the day of the wedding because they had previous meetings scheduled there. But they do allow alcohol, and there is a nice size fully stocked kitchen. Cam showed us how to get in and out of the space, and the checklist as to how to leave it when we were done. They leave you alone, no watchful eyes on you at your own ceremony, which is so less stressful and needed. The grounds are amazing, with a memory garden in the back and a Labyrinth. UUFG was the perfect space for us, and they are just so laid back and easy to work with!

Long story short - their sound staff are extremely unprofessional and disappointing and I would never trust them to run any important music or dance show. Do not use this venue.

Never happened. We paid extra $40 for two people in room, yet only one key. If you plan to sit at the table on the very hot (with no fans) balcony, take some cleaning wipes with you as it was filthy. The room door has a mounting for security chain, but no chain. The drapes just barely cover the glass on the windows. Disconcerting for sure. The wood floor is sticky beneath your bare feet. Yuck! Bathroom lighting is so poor you only hope you got your eyebrow pencil somewhere close to your eyebrows. The toilet is so low it must have been meant for children, oh wait, no children in the big house. Cheapest toilet paper ever, your fingers go right through it! The no slip strips on the bottom of the tub were loose and flying in the breeze. Safety first! A book about Floridian painters, antique or not, is only of value if one can actually turn the pages. When it is falling apart literally at the seams it is classified as junk! The cook, "E" was delightful and went above and beyond expectation. The layer of dust on every windowpane in the dining room was a little gross. Being old and decrepit does not qualify as "eloquent" , and is not worth the exorbitant price tag.

Bridgette went above and beyond to make the process as simple as possible for me and as beautiful for my sister.. adding so many amazing details along the way without being asked - flowers inside of ice cubes in the mimosa bin, wooden hearts for attendees to sign for a guest book, etc - these amazing gestures were greatly appreciated. She even provided linens, plates, decor, as well as vendor recommendations for the very few things she didn't have. She also coordinated my rental and included everything in one invoice.
