Locked our door from inside at 7:30pm. Then loud again at 1am & phone call at 3am. No way to lock your door if you go out to explore the town. Grounds unkept room some what clean. Bathroom floor had black hair all over and towels wrinkled hanging on wood rack. Bed was uncomfortable. Room was not the one we were told we were getting when booked. We were offered another night at a different time but not a refund at this time. Not a good birthday experience for my husband at all. Never staying at a Bed n breakfast again.

We should have been notified prior to our arrival, and I would have made other arrangements. The reason we select a bed and breakfast is for the breakfast. My guess is the kitchen is not up to code, and they are not allowed to serve food. The place is filthy, and the host is very unorganized. When we arrived the host took us to our room (no locks on the doors) and showed us our bathroom which was a separate room (we had to leave our room to use the bathroom). The bathroom light was not working and not enough towels. The host told us they would fix the light and then she went to another room and grabbed towels for us. The first time I took a shower I found a dirty hand towel hanging on the shower knob. So, I'm sure the bathroom was not properly cleaned. There was one dresser in our room, and all the drawers were full of personal junk, there was no place to put our clothes other than a hanger that was hanging on the wall. A microwave that didn't work and a small fridge that had ice build-up and needed cleaned were in our room. The downstairs was worse, looked like it hadn't been cleaned since the mansion was built, so bad that we would not sit in the living room or spend any time in the lower level. The day we left we walked around the property, and the place is overgrown with weeds. And on top of all this the host has accused us of stealing two of the nasty towels and breaking a defective window blind that was in our room. I guess they need the extra money to fix this place. We were very disappointed and do not recommend this place.

The venue is set up for indoor or outdoor weddings in case of weather. For my daughter's wedding it rained and the inside was just beautiful. I highly recommend them if you're looking for a wedding venue. Tracy and Deb were terrific to work with very helpful and kind.

Our first venue that we had our heart set on was not working with us to hold our wedding in 2020. Our florist referred us quickly to these ladies three months before our scheduled wedding. They were super responsive immediately and got us in for a tour and to our luck had our date still open! The place is absolutely beautiful, inside and out. The convenience of tables, chairs, linens and chinaware included in the price was a huge plus. The newly renovated Grooms and Brides rooms are super pretty. Tracy was always so quick to answer all of my many questions through text and telephone conversations along the way. Deb was there the night before at rehearsal helping set up and putting little touches to our décor we brought along, that she had. The day of the event the ladies were always checking in with us to make sure everything was running smoothly and if we needed anything. I am so happy we went with Whispering Pines of Carlisle and would have definitely started with them from the beginning had I did a bit more research on locations in this area. We are already talking about having our 10-year wedding vowel renewal there! Thank you, Tracy and Deb, - you both were our saviors!

There is a walking path along the river, with plenty of benches for sitting as well. The views of the Susquehanna and the bridge are very beautiful. When I visited this past Saturday, I walked over from town (an easy walk), but there was plenty of parking at the Trails Center, too. I just spent a few minutes here, enjoying the views, but I have been happy to read my book on a bench with those views if I hadn't had such a packed itinerary for my time in Columbia!

There is one boat launcher and 2 docked paddle boat access points, including one which is wheelchair accessible.  And I should count also the one undocked access point right under the bridge. The center marks the southern end of the Northwest Lancaster County River Trail, currently my favorite trail.  The one negative I should point out is that it can be confusing to get to the trailhead.  There is an overflow parking area and restricted access road that can potentially mislead. The key is to go across the traffic light to where the murals are and head left until the Y intersection where you'd have to cross twice in order to get to the trail.  Aside from that, this place is perfectly situated and planned out.
