Very friendly folks that are easy and enjoyable to work with.

I can't say enough great things about this place. The shop owner is such a cool & friendly guy. He makes everyone that walks in feel welcomed. His prices are reasonable and he always has great pieces in stock. I saw another reviewer complain about there not always being prices and the clothes piles he keeps in the front/back of the shop. I thought this was funny because it's my favorite part about this place! The owner is super fair with his pricing and gives a discount if you're buying more than one item. I also love sitting there and going through the pile of clothes before he's had the chance to price everything and hang it up for everyone to see. I have gotten some of my favorite vintage finds from the piles and paid about half, if not less, than I would at any other shop in town. Thank you for doing what you do! read more

I didn't spend too much time in here today, just a quick walk through to check things out. They had some cool clothes! The staff was busy (great to see), and as I was heading towards the door, the owner called out and thanked me for stopping by and invited me to come back again. And here's why he gets five stars... The owner had stepped outside to catch some air, and I thanked him for being open and for allowing me to gander. A quick conversation ensued, and then he offered me a bottle of water for the road because it was so muggy out! Not to many places I know of would do that, and I thought it warranted a review. I will say that I'm glad my wife and daughter weren't with me, 'cause that could've gotten my wallet in trouble! It'll be worth the trip to come visit again! Maybe next time I'll walk across the street to the brewery, because whatever they were cooking it smelled really good! read more

I've been wanting to visit this place for so long, but I just never made it to St. Paul until yesterday and was blown away! The selection is awesome and the owner was so nice and hooked it up! I would definitely recommend this spot to everyone looking for some good vintage crew neck/t shirts. read more

10/10 would recommend this absolute gem of a spot. From unreal treasures to the airy light energy beaming from everyone working I have to say this is a treasure hunting must do/see! After shopping I asked the owner to direct me to a good spot to have a bite/drink, they recommend Keg & Case about a block down which also didn't disappoint. SPOT ON. DING DONG! OK, I would normally give a place like this two stars (based on stuff I'll mention later), but I really applaud this place and the guy who owns it because he gets some cool, weirdly macabre stuff that you wouldn't find elsewhere. I mean, who else in the Twin Cities would have an entire taxidermied neck/head of a giraffe??? A fetal pig skeleton in a tiny wooden box to give your sweetheart on your anniversary? Well, this guy does. I'm an avid vintage shopper with a dark sense of humor, so I really appreciate this place, but it has some major problems. First off, almost nothing is priced. Awkward to have to ask about every little thing you might be interested in ('cause sometimes there's a lot). And if the owner isn't in--but say his Mom is--she may have to call him to get a price. Uncool. Especially for introverts who may just want to shop with as little talking as possible some times. The other major issue is the piles of clothing just thrown in large heaps on the floor; it just makes it look like the owner doesn't care about his business or his customers. I've seen this on multiple visits. I can only guess that his mom told him to pick his clothes up off the damn floor and he said 'No, MAW you can't make me'. But I will continue to shop here from time to time because the owner picks up some great, unique things and the pricing (when I occasionally ask) seems ok. It's definitely worth a look when you're in the neighborhood. Say hello to the giraffe. read more

Fun eclectic and full of surprises and oddities around every nook and cranny. The taxidermy giraffe head is quite the peculiar find. I recommend this place for some treasure hunting! My Daughter found a fun puppet and I noticed Taschen books in their case. A definite fun find on West 7th. read more

This is one of my favorite thrift stores in the cities. I almost don't wanna leave this review because this place is totally my hidden spot. This store is great. They have a ton of cool stuff, like vintage t shirts and sweaters, pants and even party attire. The best part of this store is the guy who owns it. He's super chill, really knowledgable, and never tries to swindle you. Nothing in the store has a price tag, you just go up and find him and he gives you an offer on your pile. He has always been super reasonable and even took my low ball on some great stuff. I really like this spot. I have gotten great vintage Lacoste, polo/Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and more. The Bearded Mermaid is every bit as cool as a place called The Bearded Mermaid should be. It's not like your average antique or vintage shop with towering piles of stuff and uncomfortably narrow aisles. It is spacious and uncluttered, with items displayed neatly throughout the store. It's the place to go if you're looking for something out of the ordinary, like original art or a human spine and equally great for unique furnishings and vintage clothing. read more
