Super friendly people. Gave us a nice tour. The honey samples were great and helped us decide what to get.

I would often buy honeysticks to share at my job, always buy a jar of Killer Bee Honey, and try another flavor just because.

Fast forward some weeks and I had the pleasure of enjoying a private catered event that she hosted, and it was awesome! Here are a few highlights: -Coffee rubbed lamb chops: Have you ever had a dish that catches you by surprise and makes you want to ravenously jump in for more, only for you to then remember that you should keep your couth about you and slowly enjoy the dish? Well, that's how I felt about these lamb chops. -Peanut pepper beef: I've had beef with peanut sauce, and I've had pepper beef, but I'm quite certain I had never tried this particular combination. The beef was tender and just slightly spicy and balanced well with the more muted peanut sauce. Which, by the way, wasn't that "Oh, this is like a jar of peanuts mashed up" type of peanut sauce. It was smooth, creamy, and not overpowering. Mmm good! -Yucca con mojo: I was thrilled that the yucca was neither the really soft nor the extremely hardy yucca that you find sometimes. Instead, it had a great flaky inside with an exterior that gave just the right amount of crunch. -Coconut panna cotta with spiced mango: First things first, I am reeeeallly not a coconut fan. That's why I was so impressed that this panna cotta didn't have a strong taste of coconut and that it played so nicely with the spiced mango. I had two *cough maybe three cough* of these and could have easily eaten another. -Rum cake: At the risk of being loquacious, I'll just say the rum cake was the bomb! In addition to preparing excellent dishes that suit every palate while paying homage to diverse Afro-Caribbean and Latin influences, Dominque truly makes you feel like a valued guest at her events. From the moment I walked in the door, she greeted me with a smile, and she guided us through the evening with professionalism and class. Toward the end of the evening, I had the chance to see photos from events that she's hosted in LA, New York, and (if I remember correctly) Ghana! Before I forget, definitely get some of her Better Than Old Bay seasoning. I was hesitant at first because I associate Old Bay with seafood, which I'm allergic to, but it works great on poultry and sweet potato fries (why yes, I did make chicken and sweet potato fries last night). You should definitely have Dominique cater your next event!

I enjoyed a private meal which included some truly stunning food - jerk pork, veggie lasagna, Brussels sprouts from heaven. I can't wait for my next TLBRT Hospitality experience!!!

This was our first time here, as on prior occasions we found the line too daunting. We were surprised when another 4:15pm patron was led to their reserved table, but we learned that their planning and caution was well-founded. We discovered the popularity of Bolder to be well-deserved. Seeking lite fare for an early dinner, calorie conscious, we both navigated the tempation-filled menu with success. We thoroughly enjoyed the bison burger and turkey club, the latter being sufficiently sample for a split lunch the next day too. Service was rock-solid and very efficient. We definitely hope to be back soon. And we will make a reservation. Dress code is casual.

It's a little bit off 70, but not bad. First off, this restaurant has an incredibly oversized parking lot. Maybe the restaurant has areas I didn't see, but I was a little bemused. Inside, it's decorated a bit like an old lady house with country accents. It's welcoming and nice, if a little old. I was seated and served quickly. My waitress was great. I ordered French onion soup and a bison burger with sweet potato fries. The French onion soup came out first. It had a huge layer of cheese on top, but it tasted like white cheddar. The soup itself was good at first but started getting bitter. I discovered a huge bay leaf in it. That explains that. Guys, leaving a bay leaf hidden in French onion soup is a violation of Article 35(2) of the Additional Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions. My sweet potato fries were seasoned with a chipotle cinnamon blend. It was weirdly sweet and clashed with the burger. I didn't care for it and honestly feel like if you're going to season with something weird, you should be abundantly clear. The burger was a disappointment. It was fairly basic. It was cooked right, but every so often I would get a burst of salt. I suspect the meat was salted and not well mixed. My burger, fries, and side of soup came to over $40. I am honestly being more critical of them because of that. At that price point, I expect REALLY good, not salt pockets, a left-in bay leaf, and weird seasonings.

They have their top combos or you can build your own. They also have blue crab of course and make sure you place orders in advance as they sell out especially on holidays. There is nowhere to eat inside or sit so you can order to go prior or stop in and get yours to go as well. The staff is wonderful and it was nice to talk with the other customers as we waited for ours. It's not big inside just a couple counters with food options to choose from and you take with you to go. They have all the seasoning and sides for sale also, along with frozen items and even paper for your crabs if you need it.

Service was friendly and I always appreciate when given the option to order crabs over the phone versus in store only. Once home we immediately started our picking party and the crabs did not disappoint. The large crabs were deliciously sweet filled with lump meat and definitely the star of dinner. The mediums were good and priced nicely. The crawfish and shrimp were pre-steamed and packaged chilled. The crawfish was the meatiest crawfish I had in years. I can't wait to return!

I also like that they have their daily specials posted on the wall. We tried the chicharrones de pollo (fried chicken bites) with an aioli sauce. We enjoyed those. I wanted chicharrones de panza (pork belly) but also wanted mofongo (mashed plantains) and requested if they had a mojo or garlic sauce to go with it. They were able to make the seafood mofongo, but replaced with the pork belly. I really enjoyed that, it came with a delicious garlicky sauce. My husband had the steak tacos, which he enjoyed. The service was great, our waitress was attentive and made good suggestions. But what really stood out was that the owner (Tony) stopped by our table and then Rosa (wife/co-owner) came over separately too. Both were really nice. We were talking about the business and coquito (Puerto Rican eggnog) and Rosa mentioned they made it for the holidays. She even brought me out a sample, which was very nice and really good. It was a nice touch to have both of the owners stop by our table to talk/check in on us. The restaurant was bigger than we expected, with a separate bar area. It's nice to know they have fun events at night and even live music. Will definitely be back and hope the business continues to do well.

But my recent experience was really disappointing. I came in for lunch around 12:30 PM on a Tuesday with five of my (teenage) friends. There were only a few other customers, but we weren't greeted when we walked in. Our waitress was nice, but she seemed rushed and overwhelmed for how empty it was. We waited about 20 minutes just to order appetizers, and even longer for the food. No one checked on us during the meal. When we finished, we had to ask for the check. We asked if it could be split six ways, and the waitress just said, "Figure it out," so we paid in cash. The total was $147, and we left $150 because that's what we had. On our way out, the owner stopped us and accused us of being disrespectful, which felt totally out of line considering the service we received. She was aggressive and made us very uncomfortable. I've never had an issue here before, but after that experience, I won't be coming back.
