I had my wedding at BWG on 9/26/15 and my husband and I had a very good experience. We initially had a very hard time finding a place to have an outdoor wedding that wasn't $5000+. We wanted to have a small wedding (about 50 people,) and wanted something simple, yet nice. Totally by chance we found out about Bendora through my sister's co-worker. As soon as I looked it up I was very impressed. The price, location, facility, and packages were perfect. We went and checked it out, fell in love, and booked it immediately. Our package included set up/tear down of the chairs, invitations, photography, and the cake which were all very nice. The invitations were simple yet pretty, the cake was delicious, and the photographer (Bryan Ghiloni) was fantastic to work with. Every step of the planning process was simple and quick. We got married outside in the rose garden which was beautiful. Our final cost was around $1700 for everything mentioned, which was an incredible price. We had a tragedy in my family the day before our wedding, and although we didn't make any changes, BWG was very kind and accommodating, offering to help us with whatever we needed. Patty was also always quick at answering any of my phone and email questions during the planning process. BWG really caters to a clientele that is often overlooked, those who want a simple, elegant, small, and affordable wedding. Overall we had a great experience and would definitely recommend it. **The only negative I have to mention is that in the garden there is no path to walk down the aisle. I thought there would be stones or a runner or something, but there wasn't. As a result the heels of my satin shoes sunk into the ground and were instantly ruined by the mud. I couldn't even wear them to the reception, so that was really disappointing. I wish I had known because I would have definitely arranged something to not only save my shoes, but also so I wouldn't have been sinking into the grass during the ceremony. So for other brides- please keep this is mind and consider a runner or pick shoes accordingly. The other issue is that there is no microphone. Unfortunately many of my guests, particularly my older guests, could not hear anything.** Those two things aside, I would certainly recommend BWG, and would happily choose to get married here again!

Bendora Wedding Gallery is elegant but affordable and the perfect place for a quiet wedding. I contacted Bendora through their website and was quickly able to reserve the time and date we wanted via e-mail. The elopement package was exactly what we were looking for: a quick civil service, just for us. We added the one-hour of professional photography to our package. All well worth the price! Bendora was amazingly accommodating to our request to have our dog with us. However, after the reservation email (in August) there was no communication from Bendora which made me a little nervous. I ended up sending an e-mail a day or so before (in January) to confirm that everything was all set. When we arrived at Bendora on the wedding day there was a rather large group finishing up. Because it was cold out, we were escorted through the crowd to the upstairs dressing room. It was a little awkward, but we didn't have to wait long for the photographer Katie (Kathryn D Studios) to start with the photos. She was nice and easy to talk to. We took a few photos in the dressing room before heading downstairs to the ceremony. The gallery is nicely decorated with white linens, chandeliers, and a lot of natural light. Patti performed the ceremony. She was extremely sweet and kept it perfectly short to last about 5 minutes then left us alone for more pictures. Inside and out there were many nice backgrounds for photos! When asked, Katie said that the photos would take 4 or 5 weeks to get back. They took double that time, but they were beautiful! I am very happy that I went to Bendora. It was a wonderful experience!

We learned that you can pick your own caterer and provide your own booze which can go along way in both cost and allowing you to truly customize your special event. This was one of the top contenders for our wedding day. What ended up keeping us from booking is that we wanted to have a November wedding and this venue is perfect for outdoor weddings so it just was too much of a gamble with the crazy Ohio weather. If you're venue shopping, I highly recommend this place. It was just so nice and if you're an Upper Arlington resident, you can get even more of a discount. Check it out!

The staff was excellent -- always checking in to see if we needed anything. According to Charlotte, one of the venue coordinators, they can seat about 150 max. The wedding I attended had a little under 100 guests, with plenty of room to move about with the dance floor set up in the front of the venue. For the ceremony: There is a beautiful outdoor terrace overlooking a pond w/ a fountain. Plenty of seating with a small aisle for the bridal party to walk down. For the reception: There is plenty of room! Tons of natural lighting. A concession stand type window bar area and an alcove to set up the food and cake tables. I was very impressed with this venue. It was clean, modern, easy to access, great staffing, with tons of natural beauty to it. I will definitely be suggesting this location to future photography clients. Well done, Amelita Mirolo.

Baking macarons is a tricky thing and Damaris did such a good job breaking down all the steps. She gave us lots of tips and tricks for our home baking, and you can see her passion for what she does. That said, I have been to several of the cooking schools in Columbus and this was my least favorite overall attendee experience. It was more expensive, yet very "basic" for lack of a better word. All of the cooking classes I have attended come with some kind of amenities - a welcome cocktail, wine bar, cheese and crackers, hot coffee/tea, etc. Something. This class was three hours long and there was nothing offered but water and iced tea (on a 20 degree day). We also did not receive any kind of information prior to the class, so parking was like solving a mystery (hint: the parking lot is behind the house down a side alleyway)

So first off I want to say I am glad my husband purchased me this gift. In theory cooking with tea…read moresounded like the coolest thing ever and it was a very thoughtful gift, but the actual experience was a bit lackluster. The Seasoned Farmhouse is a beautiful space, but the cooking class was just okay. I unfortunately didn't learn any new skills and the main reason for this review being so low is because my husband and I got food poisoning at the event. I felt sick as soon as I ate the food and didn't feel better until 24 hours later. I have lots of thoughts on why this happened, that I will explain later. Class + Recipes: The recipes we tried were good. It was a class all about learning how to cook with tea. We made Shaoxing Wine Tea-Poached Chicken with Scallion Oil, Sweet Tea-Brined Roast Chicken, Salad Greens with Golden Raisin Vinaigrette, Tea-Poached Eggs, Black Tea Poppy Seed Muffins, Earl Grey Tea Cake with Chopped Chocolate and Tea-Infused Cream Cheese Frosting and Roasted Yukon Potato Wedges with Aioli Sauce. The food tasted good and I appreciated the amount of thought that Chef Cindy Ramsey put into creating them. However, I was severely disappointed with the set-up of the class. I've been to 6 cooking classes at other locations and always was assigned to a specific station where each participant would make each dish and learn new cooking skills. This class was set-up where we were given a 20 minute lecture and then told to wash our hands and disperse to focus on different aspects of the meal. For instance I mixed the aioli sauce, iced the cake and teared lettuce leaves. Though we were told to wash our hands, we didn't wear gloves and this is what I believe caused my husband and I to get sick. Cons: Lack of cleanliness. During the demonstrations sometimes the chef would touch raw ingredients like eggs and chicken and would then touch other ingredients that would not be cooked. This leads to cross contamination and should have been avoided on the chefs behalf. In addition, because 10 different people peeled eggs, and various people touched ingredient components that would not be cooked I believe this also may be the cause of getting sick. As a science nerd let me share that we all have a different skin microbiome. Sometimes people carry more of one bacteria on their skin than others. Also depending on the length and cleanliness of finger nails, this also could cause unwanted bacteria on food that was prepared without being cooked. If these bacteria get into the ingredients, some people can get ill from them. Net: PLEASE HAVE ALL PARTICIPANTS WEAR GLOVES WHEN PREPARING FOOD, ESPECIALLY ITEMS THAT WILL NOT BE COOKED. I feel like the price of the class was not cheap and hopefully could cover the cost of gloves in the future. Based on this experience, I would not come here again and do not recommend it to someone who is looking for a more traditional style cooking class.
