She could not have been more kind and warm; I'm so sad I didn't get her and the owners' names (but her daughter also owns the jewelry store across the street!!). Olive & Slate is a must-shop. Instantly the scent of one of their candles hits your senses and you're drawn in. They sell these awesome robot pieces made of metal and tin and are painted and out together by locals. They also sell flour towels with amazing quips on them (see pics below - they're only $7!!), and Mud Pie products that you canNOT love without. You gotta go visit. BRING YOUR MONEY! Buyer's remorse is NOT a factor here!

First off, you will find a vast and constantly changing selection of antique and vintage home furnishings and decor- cabinets, hutches, shelves, accent tables, kitchen ware, a dizzying array of baskets in all shapes and sizes - which the the kind owners gather as they hunt estate sales, flea markets and the like. Most of these pieces are American made, all are handcrafted and one-of-a-kind. Some will have been lovingly restored by proprietor Damien - who also crafts new pieces and can do so to your specifications! We recently bought a house in the area and are slowly making it our very own. I'm in need of a short shelf/hook rack, which might easily be obtained as a cheap piece of crap from Walmart mass-produced in communist China - or I'll pay a few dollars more and have one handmade right here in Ohio. Take a guess which I've decided on. In addition to wood crafts, proprietress Shannon makes personalized T shirts, coffee mugs and koozies with a great selection of designs to choose from. Still don't see something that grabs you? No worries, bring your own design and she'll make it happen. They say you can't always get what you want but that doesn't seem to apply here! Something here for everyone and great gift ideas too. Any unscheduled closing (doesn't happen often) is posted on their facebook page, so if you're making a special trip might want to check that first- or call. My other tip is, if you see something that grabs you- grab it now! I highly recommend you get over to the Workshop.

The shop has a mixture of household items, women's clothing, and decorative items including some with inspirational sayings. I'll let some other reviewers talk about the women's clothes (other than this looks like a place for women, not girls.) What I noticed were items like battery powered candles, wind chimes, angel figurines, and some items that also had humorous sayings, particularly for cat lovers. The payment counter is centrally located in the shop and easy to see from the mall entrance. There were two women working during my visit and both were helping customers while I browsed. Much has changed, including the location, but the same sign that hangs outside, and amazing smells that pour forth, greet me as if I never left. I love being greeted by the cool staff when I head back to my old haunt on High Street. My Elementary, Jr. High, High School and College experiences always had a Bit O' the Berry to help it along, from cards to funny and exotic gifts, incense or clothes....... everyone knew, and still seems to know, this is the place for it all! I personally fought the urge to go home with the magnolia silk wreath beside the front counter but my mom ended up buying a kitchen tea towel and oven mit. From the moment you see the front window display at Cozy Nest you'll know this isn't your average small town gift shop filled with trinkets, Cherished Teddies, Precious Moments and Wooden Willows angels (no offense to you collectors out there). Conveniently located a few doors down from lunch at the Montage Cafe and cappuccinos at The Coffee Pot and you couldn't ask for a better Saturday morning in Greenville. I was impressed with the prices given what the items are. My only complaint was that the shopkeeper seemed to have a friend in while we were there and never greeted or engaged with us which would seem like a great marketing opportunity for a newer business. We'll certainly be back and I imagine this scenario isn't always the case.

I read that a lot of items come from Asia (I saw a lot from India) and apparently they have buyers that just go out and look for this type of eclectic furniture in bulk and one offs. Rugs are some of the best deals I have seen (good quality and good price). If you need a piece to really stand out (and no one else has) this is the place to go! They also have free popcorn and fruit drink in the front for customers!
