I contacted Jorge of, "The Best Guys" and made an appointment with him to do some work I was unable to do myself because of a recent knee surgery. Although he had some poor reviews, I am always willing to give someone a chance... Well, I guess I shouldn't have. Even though I spoke with Jorge on the phone and exchanged texts to confirm the appointment and the address, he failed to show up as promised. He never contacted me to explain or reschedule. Jorge Rebolledo and his crew are amazing. I have had them put up fences around our yard, and recently finished completely re landscaping our small yard...we've paved over every bit of it to save water and end our decades long battle with weeds. For which my neighbors are delighted since now I will no longer be Johnny Dandylion - seed! It looks amazing! It will be such a pleasure to be in the yard. Whatever and when ever we choose, we can grow using planters an pots. We liked his work so well, we've moved on to replacing windows all around and replacing railings around both porches. I have known George (Jorge) and Maria and his father Jorge Sr. for many years due to soccer. I noticed that his family business was doing repairs on the sprinkler systems on the soccer fields for Atletico and thus found out about The Best Guys Landscaping. He and his wife and father are very hard working, earnest, honest, friendly folks, and we have benefited greatly from their services. I had been having a high turnover rate for landscapers on our HOA grounds. It always started out well, and then they would start to get worse. Not so with The Best Guys. They have been consistently good for years now. We have had them do many things beyond the regular day-to-day landscaping. New lawn and sprinklers in our common area a couple years ago. They installed a rain sensing system so we use less water now. They have taken down trees that posed a risk to homeowner properties, including stump removal (very important). It was fun to watch as they did it very quickly. They prune trees back from homes regularly. They have done many sprinkler and pipe burst repairs. When they go through our complex, the place looks trim, clean (they do pick up trash), and it shines. I highly recommend The Best Guys. Julio showed up on time and did a FANTASTIC job in doing all the work in my front yard that was described in the estimate. Removing the massive amount of invasive weeds down to the roots, asking me what plants I wanted to keep or have removed, making sure the current drip system was placed where I wanted, laying down & securing the weed blocker cover and putting the wood chips on top. When the work was completed, all the trash was removed and there was NOTHING remaining for me to clean up. BEWARE!! HERE IS MY EXPERIENCE WITH JORGE OF THE "BEST" GUYS: I was planning on hiring Jorge for an initial cleanup of my yard, which was a $500 job, and then to be my regular gardener, coming out twice a week for regular maintenance. Jorge assured me from day one that he takes pride in representing his name as the BEST guys, so I went with him even though his price for the initial cleanup was $80 higher than his competitor. They didn't finish the job completely because they had no room left in their trailer, but Jorge assured me that the last few cleanup tasks would be completed during their first regular maintenance visit, so I was not to worry. No problem, I figured. I paid him the $500 in full- bad move! Jorge then IGNORED MY CALLS FOR 3 WEEKS STRAIGHT. I left him (very calm and not angry) voice mails almost every day for 3 weeks, and he only responded when I finally threatened to write a negative yelp review. His response, rather than being helpful and trying to address my concerns, was defensive and he told me that he would not do any more work for me. "Why?" I asked, and he basically told me that he had done enough work for the $500. What?! So he just decided partway through the job that he had done enough for the money, and so he would just ignore the client's calls? So when he finally responded, he told me that he was going to go on yelp and defend himself, to try to "defend his business practices." I'm not sure how he can possibly defend this type of business practice, unless he plans to simply lie. But then again, he lied to me in the first place about what he planned to do, and how he planned to do it, so it would not surprise me. Also, what kind of business owner leaves himself positive reviews on yelp? Especially just to offset a customer's negative review? That is shady and untrustworthy! Here is a list of the things which were promised to be finished, but were never completed. This is not the full list, but only the 5 most important things: 1) Fixing 2 broken sprinkler heads on my front lawn (I had agreed to pay for parts) 2) removing dead roses from a fence on the side of my yard (they removed part of the roses, but told me they would remove the rest when they returned) 3) They broke a wooden edge-board on my front lawn, and left it sticking out into the grass. It's still broken. (Who does that?!?!) 4) They did not effectively trim back the branches of trees from the roof, so leaves and branches can still fall on the roof, which they were supposed to do 5) they were supposed to clean up all they debris in the yard, and there was a good amount left. (I could get over this last one, but the first 3 are truly unforgivable) Again, it would have been fine if he had planned to do these things during his regular maintenance visit. The problem is that, when I tried to call him to come do the maintenance, HE IGNORED MY CALLS FOR 3 WEEKS, and then refused to do any work for me. I have no idea why he chose to do this, as I would have been a great and steady client. I just want to remind you that, if you hire Jorge, this is the type of person you are getting involved with. It seems that most of the positive reviews on here are from people he knows, so I'm sure he works well for his friends, and it also looks like I'm not the only person on here who had an experience where he didn't complete a job due to his deciding that there was a money issue. Bottom line: BEWARE!! USE A DIFFERENT GARDENER IF YOU WANT SOMEONE RELIABLE AND TRUSTWORTHY!! read more

I asked Jorge how much he would charge to plant, weed and do some cleaning around my house, he said $20 an hour. I figured if he put in a full day, I would spend $160. He came with 2 other people and they spent 3.5 hours working. He charged me $210! Said EACH of them got $20 an hour! He used my tools to do the work, which were not put away when he left. Then, all the plants died because they did not loosen the root ball before putting in the ground. Jorge did several jobs for me over the past year and until the last, I was happy with his work. After seeing the reviews for this company, I thought I would give them a chance despite the one long bad review they got. I called three times just to ask if he was interested in doing the work. Each time I was told to text him the address and he would get back to me. He did not call back. I thought I would make one more effort to contact him. He scheduled an appointment with me. I waited one hour from our scheduled appointment and he never called. I won't be calling him back. I hope he has a good group of regulars because he seems to care less about taking on new clients. BEWARE!!!! Gave me an estimate of $5800, but billing for $9400. I told him over and over that he needed to stay in budget, but he overspent and did'n't tell me until the job was 3/4 complete. So I paid him another $2100. Now he is demanding $1400 MORE!! Do not get involved with this guy. He is dishonest and will keep hounding you for additional money not in the estimate. Now he is threatening to trespass on my property and destroy the work he has done. He has a license number on his business card. It is not registered with the State of California. Hired The Best Guys (owner Jorge) about two years ago to weed my garden. Jorge, his father, and wife all did SUCH a good job, I've kept them coming back again and again. I'm almost afraid to post this up for them because then everyone will hire them and book up all their time and I won't be able to get him out for more work! haahaa... I have tons of delicate flowers but weeds keep growing up among them. I hired a couple of licensed landscapers from the phone book at $22/hr and they were really fast but they ended up pulling out flowers with the weeds! Then a neighbor recommended Jorge, owner of the Best Guys. He did an OUTSTANDING job. I felt like my yard was restored to the beautiful garden it was when I bought the place. It has never looked so good! Jorge plucks all the weeds and leaves all my lovely flowers. The results are outstanding. He is an honest hard working guy and has his own business license and insurance. The thing about Jorge is he always puts his very best into every job he does. He may not be the very fastest worker, but he works really hard, honestly and always does quality work. He is fair and honest with very fair and reasonable fees. I have moved out of the Santa Rosa area, but I still ask him to drive out to help me with landscaping. I give him a little extra to cover his gas and time driving but he will even go to San Francisco if the job is right. The Best Guys are honest and very hard working. His father always has a smile on his face and works himself to death and somehow has endless energy.
