All I can say is wow! The food is so fresh and made with such care. No long wait and while I didn't finish the pizza at sitting I took it back and ate it the next morning. The staff is very friendly and enjoy what they do. At the time of this writing I also ordered their classic burger. Once again it was very fresh and reminiscent of a smash burger which we have back in the states. Very yummy! I highly recommend Chill and Grill to anyone staying close. The atmosphere is very relaxing (albeit not for the occasional honking of cars outside) and it's very homely. From this yank, keep up the fantastic work!

Chef is very down to earth and has been chefing for a long time and from what he told me knows the ropes. that is reflected by his food. Well done and thank you for the great meal. Just remember The Thoroughbred is a south auckland pub with this little makeshift dining room on the side. Service is from the bar staff so its not the best. Everyone's seen the adds with the model type woman tucking in to a Western Bacon burger. I felt like if she risked her diet to give that incredible looking burger a try, I must get one of these burgers someday. That day finally came. I was not disappointed. Putting it into perspective, don't go in expecting Burger Fuel or Fergburger. It's not going to feature in your top ten culinary experiences for the year. But if you had a rough night the night before, and want some grubby takeaways with a bit of flavour, Carls beats BK and Maccas hands down. The restaurant was clean and the staff were happy to answer our questions and make recommendations. The Western Bacon burger did not disappoint. Onion rings in a burger is straight up genius. The fries were also amazing, and I also gave my partners chilli cheese fries a go, which while a bit on the soggy side, weren't half bad. It is the only fish and chips shop (in fact it's the only food store) around this part of the Karaka area (for a few kilometres anyway). They are pretty good too and reasonably priced. The fish here is usually quite nice and fresh, with heaps of different kinds to choose from. With the water so close, perhaps they get some of it straight from the source. I have to say that the burgers here are not the best, but they are quite large and definitely filling. I think the convenience factor sees locals visiting this place frequently for an easy dinner option. Also they have other essential everyday food items that you might find in a dairy.

They also make some great milkshakes here and go great with their chips, which are the best in the area (though not the cheapest). The only problem with Bunters is that it gets extremely packed. One memorable Friday night consisted of my partner and I waiting for an hour for our food and almost no space to breathe in the waiting area and a line going out the door. I'd highly recommend trying Bunters on an early weekday, or order by phone to avoid waiting too long at the door.
