Our house needed a 'refresh' and I decided to do that through window treatments. We have a house full of windows and doors made of glass, and I was intent on having shutters given their timeless, clean look and the durability/resilience. I had initially been intent on getting three quotes and had my little list with Home Depot, Costco and one local vendor on it (The Blind Guys) I had selected the local vendor through consumer research. I had a budget in my head that I was intent on staying within and while I was not too picky about shutter brand, I was selective enough to know my budget was in a *quality* range. Scooter came out from The Blind Guys and did a great job with initial consultation. Very knowledgeable about the product he was selling and how things would look/fit, as we talked through. He left me my quote, explained how things would work if I decided to go with them and the Hunter Douglas products and I was incredibly impressed with our local business. So much so, that I did not end up needing to have the 3rd parties come out through Home Depot, Costco (reviews of quality/damaged products, scheduling, issues, etc. were a bit too frightening as well) Fast forward to 6-7 weeks later, when my 18 shutters were in; they called and scheduled an installation; came out with no issues or problems. The shutters were in perfect condition, and looked amazing! As mentioned we have a ton of windows, so there was a follow up visit a few days after initial install for some additional caulking that did not get finished and that was taken care of. The group of guys that came out were super friendly, hardworking and knowledgeable. The experience overall was fantastic for us, and it was a a significant investment so you want things to go well and right and they absolutely did. There is a reason that this business and their team get excellent reviews and I do not regret for a second going with my gut and just getting one single quote from The Blind Guys! read more

I spent 2500.00 on a blind and it does not work. To get it fixed they charge 100.00. this is the 2nd time it will not work or magically decides to work when you didn't Ask it to. I now have aluminum foil on my window to shut out the light. read more

Ordered 2 sets of shutters Jan 9. After a couple months they came to install. They ended up only doing 1 window because they ordered the wrong size for the living room. When the correct size came in they dropped it out of the truck on the way to my house. It finally came in and they came to install yesterday. And then discovered part of it was missing. So here it is 5 months later ( 4 trips to my house) and I still don't have them. read more

At the time of purchase I told both the salesman and the owner that I needed these blinds as soon as possible. Time was so important to me that I had them write the worst case install date on the sales slip. I was assured by the salesman that the blind would be installed on or before the deadline even if the salesman had to come out and install them himself. Five weeks later I had not heard anything from them so I called them. They NEVER called me. At that time the offered to install blinds on the 15th at 4:00PM but I work nights so that was NOT possible. At this point I reminded the salesman of his promise and he very rudely (tone of voice was very bad) said You never told me you worked nights so it is NOT our fault. If someone from the store had call me I would have felt different, but there is way no of telling when the blind would have been installed if I had left it up to them. In addition, I feel that there is no reason to be rude. I was not the one who failed to keep my promise. read more

"Not good" doesn't even come close---Awful is more like it. Worst service I've ever had to deal with. My 4-year old Hunter Douglas vertical blinds needed repair and was told it would take 2-3 weeks. It took 3 MONTHS and wasn't even completed satisfactorily. Someone discarded my original hardware so my only option was to accept a different opener mechanism which looks cheap. So-called service manager told me they would have a meeting to come up with an acceptable option; not only did that meeting not happen, he didn't bother to tell me until the rescheduled day 2-weeks after I refused the inferior mechanism in the first place. No attention to detail whatsoever and the owner never bothered to reach out to me despite being copied on an email in the midst of the debacle. No apologies because they just don't care. I wanted to give 0 stars but had to choose 1 in order to post this. read more

We purchased 4 Hunter Douglass blinds from the Blind Guys. 5 stars for the showroom, sales consultants and installers. We are beyond happy with our room darkening shades. However, when we called two times for service after the install (once to level the shade and once because another shade was rubbing on the window frame), the person who answered the phone was not friendly, suggested that we had somehow damaged or made the shades get off alignment and was quick to tell me that they would do us a favor to do the adjustment for no charge and that normally I should expect to pay for this type of service. I explained that it was still a result of the first installation and should be corrected. After spending thousands of dollars on the window coverings, we expected a little better in terms of follow up service. read more

Look elsewhere. This is not a discount store for DIYers, but that's okay... sometimes it's nice to splurge a little. When you do, and spend top dollar, you expect premium customer service. Unfortunately, The Blind Guys failed to deliver. Installation was very poor. The installer said he was done and about to walk out the door, but every blind was crooked. I'm not talking about a little off... they were WAY off. None of them were properly shimmed at the top. They also left debris all over the window ledges and floor, from drilling the holes for the mounting brackets. Who doesn't carry a cordless vacuum to clean up after an install? The answer: The Blind Guys. One of the blinds also arrived with the incorrect chain and tensioner. I was told the office would contact me. After waiting about a week, I finally had to call them myself. FYI... after they get your money, be prepared to constantly light a fire under them to finish the job. They do not communicate at all. I eventually got the chain replaced, but they forgot about the tensioner. At the time I was told they'd be back in a couple days. I've been waiting over two weeks, and never received a phone call. It's really unbelievable. After reaching out again, they finally gave me a date of next Wednesday. I'm not holding my breath, but we'll see. If you really want Hunter Douglas, there are other dealers in town. I won't be using The Blind Guys again. read more

Update: still being dissatisfied with this shade that cost many hundred bucks and is useless, I tried again to talk with the dealer who lied to me about having offered a " right choice promise" about which I had never been informed. Run as fast as you can from these people who promise service but who do not provide it. read more

The Blind Guys delivered consistently excellent service from start to finish. When we walked into their store, Julie, one of the owners, walked us through our options. Adrian, who came out to our house, helped us to finalize our product selections. When the shipment of our blinds got delayed, Alma the receptionist, Pat in installation and Julie were all helpful in arranging to get our new blinds installed right before we had guests staying with us. Daniel who installed the blinds knew what he was doing and was in and out quickly. He even drove back to the store to pick up a second set of blinds that had just been delivered separately. Everyone was pleasant and professional. Pricing was reasonable for Hunter-Douglas blinds. Highly recommended. read more

This company is not a licensed contractor with the AZ Registrar. It should not be doing any work for $1000 or more. It has a show room in a house and it conducts business in a residential neighborhood, contrary to City Zoning laws. It is surprising that Hunter Douglas would allow any of its contractors to do this. The company owners also harass the neighbors with disturbances from construction noise, visiting customers, deliveries and obnoxious behavior by the owners, Michael and Virginia Levy. read more

We had excellent service from show room visit, to sales gal and the Owner even came and installed the blinds for us because the installation staff had no openings but our blinds had come in. We have had the blinds in for 2 months and I love them even more than when we ordered them. If we need blinds in the future this is where we are going. They beat the big boxes hands down. read more

A year after installing some blinds for two large sliding glass doors, we were so pleased that we had them return do do three more windows. Pat came to our home with samples, and had great ideas that would give us what we wanted (light and heat blocking; shaded views; power operation). For the install, one window had drapes that needed taking down. When I asked the wonderful installers if they could please put them over another window, they did, for no charge!! Obviously their schedule allowed them to do that, but many people would have just said no. Months after installing, we had trouble with one of our power shades, and they were right on it and fixed it (they replaced the motor). They are super accommodating to fit your schedule. We wouldn't hesitate to use them again and again. read more

I purchased a house and asked The Blind Guys to come in to perform some minor repairs. We set a Tuesday appointment. Since I take a class, I emphasized that I could not meet them earlier than noon. So if they finished their morning appointments earlier, I could not meet an earlier time. When I pulled up to the house there they were parked in my driveway, blocking my garage. They plugged in their batteries to our outside plugs without asking. When let in, they marched right into my kitchen instead of waiting at the front door. They did make the repairs but asked that the check be made to Mike Levy instead of The Blind Guys. Mmmm. These guys just make me uncomfortable. read more

We have used Mike for shutters for four years. We're getting ready to move into a brand new house, and he was the first call I made. We wouldn't think of using anyone else for window coverings. Mike and his wife go out of their way to make appointments when its convenient for you. And, they always show up on time and deliver as promised, which is not exactly common in Tucson. We purchased five Hunter Douglas blinds from the Blind Guys and were initially impressed with the quality and workmanship. However, it has been less than two years and three of the five blinds have fallen off the wall due to poor anchoring. We had to pay them $75 twice to come out and repair the mountings but decided to do it ourselves after the third failure. read more

We had the worst experience with this company. We purchased blinds from them for our new build. I will first say that the gal we worked with, who came to our home and did our measurements, was amazing! Really appreciated her! Also, the gentleman who had to correct ALL of the screw ups was amazing. But the installation crew was one screw up after another. They were installing blinds over our custom sliders and screwed a screw DIRECTLY into our slider. I discovered it the next day when I couldn't open the door! It was screwed shut!!! They broke the head off the screw adding insult to injury. When we asked Skip to replace our custom sliders for screwing a hole through them and ruining there integrity and weather ability, he claimed, "they fixed the door good enough and it didn't change anything". They put putty in the metal frame of a custom door! Among other things were drilled holes in the wrong location (left unpatched), my white walls were filthy in the areas they worked, small pinholes in 2 of the blinds, and as great as the guy who repaired all the screw ups was, he had to come back SOOO many times. Now, 8 months later, I'm trying to charge my electric blinds (which was wired so I didn't have to have batteries but didn't work with half of the blinds. Not completely their fault but partially) and the charger doesn't connect!! Just ridiculous! I can't open my front door because the blinds died while closed on the door! First world problems, I know. But come on!!!! So now I have to wait to open my front door until I get the proper charger. One positive, We did have some blinds that were measured wrong and didn't fit, but they fixed that quickly. read more

Very prompt to appt but you should be aware they are unable to install Hunter Douglas products to a brick/cement wall if your windows is in such. Wish it was noted before I purchased the Living Social deal.. Which was refunded. I did find other HD installers that said its extra work but can be done. read more

Mike and Virginia from the Blind Guys were amazing. They made a special long distance trip to install my blinds. They told me they travel all the time for customers. The guy with the one star rating is incorrect. They have a beautiful showroom on Speedway and Swan. They don't work out of their house like he says. Whatever goes on in their home and private lives is irrelevant to who they are as a business, which is what matters. They go out of their way to make sure they give good customer service and follow up with their customers. They are very experienced and fully supported by Hunter Douglas. read more

We were so impressed with the shutters they installed at our first home that when we moved to our 2nd home Mike at The Blind Guys was one of our first calls for another shutter installation. Hunter Douglas' headquarters gave us the name of Blind guys in Tucson for service work on an existing blind. I detached it from the mounting and brought the entire shade to their shop. This is an older shade, and there were two rips in the honeycomb or plies. Pat Hrrington waited on me. He said right off that they do not do repair work; that a new blind would be $300-500. he said that we had gotten our money's worth from the shade, ( which is 25 years oild.) His attitude was really off-putting--he said that he would have someone call. A day or two later a lady from his shop called. She had no information at all; she had NOTa talked to Mr. Harrrington; nor was he in the shop when he called--So we started all over again. I told her the story; I suggested that she talk to Mr. Harrington. she said she would and said she'd call us back. I never heard from her, or from anyone else from this company. they clearly are interested ONLY in selling , not in service. I called BHunter douglas back, and explained the whole story to them; after SOME delay on on the 'phone, the rep gave me the name of another HD dealer whom i called. We set a date; he showed up on time as promised, examined the shade; said he'd take care of it; and get us another ahde of a similar or closely matching color. the project is now on track. read more

I usually feel it's bad karma to write negative reviews but in this instance I feel it's my obligation to let others know about my experience with Mike, owner of the Blind Guys. He was consistently rude, abrupt, impatient and stressed-out. I purchased six high-end Hunger Douglas woven wood ultra glide shades from him and he refused to honor the warranty when one of them broke in less than a year's time. First, he said I should send it back to Hunter Douglas myself, then reluctantly agreed to come look at it THEN changed his mind and sent me a text message stating that he would no longer do any work for me and was blocking my phone number from his phone!! I did not do anything to deserve this treatment except call him back to my home after installation because the shades were initially hung off-center; he was indignant about having to return and insisted they were correct the way they were (yet my husband and housekeeper both noticed they were off center). I was also disappointed that the black-out shades in the guest room were letting in so much light around them and tried exploring solutions with him but again he just got annoyed. I was as nice and patient as I could be with each encounter. He repeatedly proclaimed that he was a "professional" but proved to be just the opposite. If he had issues with me, he could have had an employee help me with my broken shade rather than leave me stranded. I called Hunter Douglas directly, let them know of the situation and was referred to another business in Tucson who does their warranty work. What a relief to know that I wasn't stuck with a broken shade and no one to help. The simple repair was done on-site (no need to take them down & send them back) for a nominal charge by a very pleasant and knowledgeable technician. One star is too much in my opinion; if there was a zero star rating, that's what I would be giving The Blind Guys. Perhaps if I'd worked with his wife or a more professional employee, I would be writing a different review. read more
