While we could have just eaten the many grocery store options my sister had in her home, those just don't compare. So, we went in search of a cheese shop and found Mickey McGuire's. Our cheese order started with Comte, which I was surprised but delighted to find in a small town cheese shop. Next, my Dad asked for their best blue cheese and we were given a sample of a very creamy but very strong/pungent blue cheese...not for the faint of heart. Next we asked for a Beemster cheese they recommended. Finally, my Dad asked for a sample of a cheese they felt we HAD to taste. While this is a pretty difficult request since people's tastes are so diverse and it's a rather vague question, they were up to the task at Mickey McGuire's and brought out a special reserve of a local made cheese that is only available for the month of December. It was delicious and definitely something different. $82 and a whole lot of cheese later, we walked out very happy.

The sad part was that they didn't have my favorite flavor (bacon) but they did have a few that I've not had before like Prawn Cocktail and Worcester sauce. They even had larger 6 packs of Cheese and Onion as well as a variety pack that includes Cheese and Onion, Salt and Vinegar and Ready Salted. Besides the chips a whole array of other snacks and imported foods can be had here such as a mix of Cadbury and even canned foods. There's a pastry display that has cookies, pastries, pies and even cheeses. I'm never been to England but this store makes me want to go, seriously... What equates to about 16 bags of chips cost me about 17 dollars after tax. The larger 6 pack bags work out to be 5.50 plus tax. I ended up also getting a tin of tiny Rolos but mostly I bought it for the tin. This store is simply "lovely" :)

Everything here is so fresh, and I love that they sell their prepared handmade pasta at the hot table for CHEAP. I got one serving of their handmade tortellini in alfredo sauce for just $6.99 and I was able to make two meals out of it without any extra sides or drinks. I haven't tried anything else because they had already closed most of the hot table when I got the tortellini but what was still out looked really good. Their desserts are pretty good too, I prefer their cookies over their cakes as I feel I've had better elsewhere, but nonetheless have a great selection with good pricing as well. Staff are pleasant and always and WILLING to listen which is a rarity in the Hospitality Industry. I know I spent 40 years in the business in all different capacities. Operations, training to franchising. With AI having an impact in all businesses especially the banking and food service business, there is no hint of any staff cutbacks at Denningers. The complete opposite impact is prevalent. The food is always fresh from the kitchen at the sit down restaurant where schnitzels, sour kraut, bockwurst, potato fries are made to order from a very nice sized menu but simple enough to not confuse customers. Latte's are also available as well as tea and assortment of cold drinks. Seating area is large enough to seat 100 people easily and lunch time is packed. Outdoor seating is available and so is a beer with your meal. The retail store has a bakery, butcher for all your meats, cold cuts and cheeses and lots of sampling takes place during the week. The store is immaculately clean and spacious washrooms are available for those trips after consuming a cafe or an alcoholic beverage. Great place to complete some paperwork while enjoying a latte. I am so glad that the Denningers has only improved over the years and they are pillars of the community in Hamilton, Burlington and Oakville. Having moved to Calgary for 22 years I missed my visits to Denninger's and their high quality foods. Bravo Denningers of Burlington Mall you have me as a customer for life!
