Instead, I got a selection of preserves in the farm market bing cherry, farm market boysenberry, wild and rare huckleberry, old fashion mountain blackberry, and old fashion red raspberry. I also got two jars of pasta sauce in roasted garlic and the other was portobello mushroom. I got one jar of Carolina reaper salsa as well. I thought these items would be great to bring back home and enjoy. Cashier was very friendly. Everything came out to about sixty bucks which wasn't bad at all. I have already tried the salsa and it is nice and spicy. The huckleberry preserves are good. I spooned a little into a small bowl and topped it with Tillamook vanilla bean ice cream and some granola crumbles. There are so many possibilities with the what I got and I am looking forward to trying everything. I look forward to trying more items from Farmer John's when we are in the area again.

We picked a watermelon and 1/2 bucket of apples. I feel like the apples were either under ripe or overripe. 1/2 bucket $8.50 full bucket $17. Watermelon upick is $6. They did have already picked buckets that you could just purchase a higher price. I didn't catch the price of the veggies or flowers. I will go back to check out the pears in a few weeks.

I was here for apples, and they had a ton of options. They were very friendly and patiently explained the process. You fill buckets and then pay at the end. They have pull carts so you can move multiple buckets around. There are so many varieties of apples! There is a chart at the entrance to the orchard with the names and what purpose is best for each kind of apple (eating, baking, applesauce). They also let you sample the apples to help with the selection process. The orchards extend farther than was apparently from the parking lot. It was peaceful at the far end of some of the rows, and we found plenty of apples. It can be muddy, so boots are probably a good idea. It was a lovely fall day, with blue skies. This was a fun way to connect with the season and to become more familiar with where some of our food comes from. Highly recommended.

Instead, you pre-pay for a container they provide (I.e. quart, 1/2 flat), and then you fill it and leave (no weighing). 1/2 flat was $12.50 for raspberries, blueberries, and boysenberries. They ask everyone stay at least 6' apart. It has never been too crowded, so it is rather easy to maintain your distance and pick where you please. The fruit is delicious, and right now there are plenty of raspberries and blueberries!

The blackberries and Marionberries, my fave. They are big, plump, and bursting with flavor. Plus, they are so much easier to pick at a farm where the bushes are staked to a trellis vs. the wild ones I pick on the side of the road. Don't get me wrong, I do pick the wild ones, but I'm usually covered in juice and my hands and arms get all pricked. When I'm here, I pick a huge bucketful so I can make pies. The berries are so sweet I just add a little sugar and lemon juice and the pies are perfect. Also pick enough so I can enjoy some plain, by the handfuls. Their blueberries are sweet and delicious, too! I make space in my freezer so I can have them throughout the year. If you don't want to pick your own, no worries, they sell containers and flats in their cute country store along with other food and gift items. This family farm is so picturesque! It's a lovely setting and it's well run with friendly staff. If you are picking fruit, definitely go in the morning to avoid the sun beating down on your back. And wear a hat!
