Having worked in the beer businesses and visited many wineries very few places instill such a feeling of peace and wonder as Art+Science. The ciders are very well made, the service was very kind and personable and the setting makes you wonder should I quit my day job and start farming. This is a must stop.

    Great cider

The actual winery is in Washington, but I would still consider that local. The number of wines offered was impressive. They had a large selection of whites, reds, and an even larger selection of sweet wines. We each did a tasting which offered five samples so that we could try more of the wines. I liked everything I tasted, but my favorite was the Pear Riesling. All of the wines were smooth and had nice flavor. The employee that did our tastings was friendly. He knew a lot about the winery and the wines we were tasting. He made conversation while we tried our wines and added to the tasting experience. The wine tasting room is on the small side, but was comfortable and clean. There is a tasting counter and then an area of food and other items for sale. Some of the wines for purchase are already refrigerated which was nice.

You get to taste 5 different wines, from an extensive list, and the tasting fee is waived if you buy a bottle. At this point, many of the grapes for their wines are sourced from eastern Washington, and notably Columbia Valley. Standouts for me were the Smoky Nor'wester, a Bordeaux Red Blend; and the Surfer Syrah. The Syrah was good and peppery, but on par with other readily available Columbia Valley Syrahs, so I went with a bottle of the smooth and balanced Smoky Nor'wester (hint: the name doesn't describe the flavor). My wife really enjoyed the "Rapture of the Deep", a sparkling cranberry wine. We came home with a bottle of that, too. If you are visiting Seaside, and enjoy wine, I would highly recommend stopping in for a visit.

At the recommendation of Michele from Triangle Wine Country Tours, we decided to visit Lonesome Rock Vineyard. Despite the limited number of Yelp reviews, all of which were positive, we trusted her advice--and we couldn't be happier that we did. A Quaint, Welcoming Atmosphere: Lonesome Rock stood out immediately for its smaller, intimate setting. Unlike larger, commercial wineries, it felt peaceful and uncrowded, giving us a sense of exclusivity and comfort. Upon arrival, Danny and Suzie, the owners, greeted us warmly. They had prepared a personalized flight sheet with our names, a beautifully set table, and delicious snacks--including freshly baked Gougeres from Suzie's oven. As a thoughtful touch, the recipe for these French cheese puffs was included on the back of the flight sheet, so we can't wait to try making them at home! Learning, Laughter, and Memorable Moments: Our tasting was not just about the wine--it was an engaging experience filled with laughter and learning. Danny and Suzie shared insights about their winemaking process and stories about the vineyard, making us feel like welcomed friends rather than just visitors. Unique Details and Beautiful Surroundings: One detail that caught my eye was the wax-sealed wine tops, reminiscent of a Maker's Mark bottle. Danny even has an Instagram video showing his waxing technique, adding a personal, artisan touch to each bottle. The October vineyard views were breathtaking, with autumn leaves painting the landscape in vibrant colors. It was the perfect backdrop for a relaxing afternoon. Standout Wines and Local Flavor: We enjoyed all the wines, but the 2023 Estate Pinot Noir was a particular favorite of mine. During our visit, Danny's nephews, Adam and Noah, arrived with a bag of freshly picked Chantrelle mushrooms--a delightful glimpse into the local lifestyle. I can only imagine how delicious those mushrooms were in that night's dinner! Friendly Company--Including the Dogs! The hospitality extended beyond the owners to their friendly dogs, who kept us company on the porch and added to the homey vibe. Spending two hours with Danny and Suzie felt more like catching up with old friends than attending a wine tasting. Final Thoughts: Don't Miss Lonesome Rock Vineyard. If you're looking for a unique, personal, and memorable wine tasting experience in Oregon, I highly recommend Lonesome Rock Vineyard. Danny and Suzie's warmth, the beautiful setting, and the exceptional wines make it a must-visit. Don't miss out on this hidden gem--you'll leave with wonderful memories and maybe even a new recipe to try!

I did the red tasting flight which consisted of 3 pinot noirs, a merlot, and a tempranillo. Oregon is known for its pinot noir and those were the wines I thought were best. Niki enthusiastically provided information and details of each wine as she poured. I appreciated her honest insights and opinions of Willamette Valley wines and of various types of wines in general. She really made the tasting experience both fun and educational. The relaxed atmosphere of this place was perfect for sipping wine. I ended up leaving with a bottle of 2021 Tualatin Estate Pinot Noir which was my favorite of the ones I sampled.

Tonight we stopped in to grab a bottle of the Grenache from the Maison Bleu label. While I've already ordered a few, my shipment came the day before I left for Oregon and with this varietal coming from the Milton-Freewater AVA, I had to get it now! It was everything and more. Yum! Back to the tasting room... The vibe is chill and there's enough room in here for a few different sized parties. They have some great wine! And cool trinkets, oils and such. If you are in the area, please stop in, say hello and try the Grenache! You'll not be disappointed.

Covid was a challenger in their intended first opening - but here they are Fall of 2025. Lucky is (locals)! Today I enjoyed a white wine flight, with wines from the Oregon columbia valley, Washington gorge, California Russian River and New Zealand. It's fun to break out - and taste the world! Then I saw they had one of my favorites - Le Ecole Chenin Blanc...so I had to order a chilled glass of that! Unfortunately I came with a full stomach - so didn't order any food. All local artisan sourced...ravioli, Draper family chicken, cheese and crab...but what I'm really looking forward to at my next visit is their (local) Pudding River cheese fondue! With sausage, baguette and apples if you like! Yes please and thank you. I also learned that great cheese pairing, art & wine events are scheduled. So sign up and make your fall and winter rich with great wine, food, new experiences and really great people!
